I wanted to like this salon because it looked like a cozy and kind environment from the outside. I will say that my haircut also came out well, but Vanessa was so off-putting and came off as mean (hence the 2 stars). I explained to her what I wanted before the cut started and in the middle asked if I could get it a little shorter or see the back of my hair. She seemed annoyed with my requests and even exclaimed, "Oh God!" I wanted to ask even more questions or repeat myself to get confirmation that she was cutting my hair in the way I wanted it to be cut, but she seemed so annoyed - stating that customers come in with a request at the start and then she does her thing. I don't think it's wrong of me to ask questions in the middle or get a little confirmation here and there. But she made me feel really terrible. It's hard for me to speak up about what I want already and being put down for it or not being met with kindness was just really sad, despite a good haircut. read more

I absolutely love Suite V! When my hairstylist of five years moved at the start of the pandemic in 2020, she referred me to Suite V. I was nervous to go somewhere new, because I've had stylists in the past who didn't understand my hair. But Suite V is awesome, and I've gone there for balayage, cut, and color ever since. Cristi does my hair and I have so much fun talking with her! She always listens to my ideas for different haircolors and styles, and she's so patient when I'm indecisive. She's taken my hair from dark brown to caramel blonde, hot pink, and more, and she treats my hair (which is naturally curly, dry, and high porosity) with such integrity and care. Danielle does my partner's hair, and he's happy every time. I'll be a loyal Suite V customer as long as they're around, and definitely recommend this salon to anyone who wants stylists they can trust and a really calming atmosphere. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that part of the salon is a vintage clothing store! This is a really special place and I'm so glad it exists. read more

I waited a couple weeks to write this because I was hoping I would settle into a better place with the haircut i received, but I haven't. Basically, I paid over $160 to feel totally unheard and not treated with the careful service this salon prides itself on. I've been here a few times before and had perfectly fine haircuts. So I went back for my last cut before my wedding. I told the stylist that I "wanted to keep it long for my wedding," asked for 2-3 inches off and physically showed her using my hair how much hair I wanted off the length. She starts cutting from the back and after a bit puts some pieces in front. I comment that the length on those looks good and she doesn't really react. After a bit, she turns me around and my hair is basically 5 inches shorter plus I have these two weird longer pieces on the sides (the pieces I commented on). She says "I thought you were open to having it shorter." At this point, I ask her to trim the two long pieces because it looks bad and we end at just over an hour into a haircut that's listed for 1:30 mins. The cut was too fast. Also, I've noticed now that several pieces on opposite sides of my head that should be even are not, for a difference of literal inches in length. This haircut is not good regardless of it being shorter than I asked. I'm just sad that there was nothing more I could have done to ask for or describe what I wanted. I'm sad that the stylist either didn't listen to me or just went so fast she was on autopilot. An apology would have helped. I'm sad I won't have the hair I grew out for my wedding. read more

Veronica is amazing. I was really unhappy with my hair color, and I came to see her in January to re-dye my hair from a warm brown to an ashy blonde. She was very upfront with the process and how long it would take me to get to exactly what I wanted. She also was very clear with me about what would look good with my skin tone. I've been to her twice now for two balayage sessions (plus a haircut which was also amaze!), and I'm much closer to my goal of ashy blonde. Veronica is very kind and knowledgeable. I fully recommend her to anyone. I also love the vibe of the salon - it's very chill. Nice collection of vintage. I always walk out feeling both very zen and fabulous. read more

Let's talk about my new favorite spot. I'm a 39 year old man who never understood his hair, trying to figure what to do with my thinning middle area which apparently has aspirations to grow out like Bernie Sanders'. Cristi takes all this in, hears my plea for help, and recommends a cut that structurally really works. I had booked a styled cut, but at the end she charges me for the (cheaper) barber cut. First let me say that I have very thick and wavy hair which can easily get cut and styled incorrectly and I am EXTREMELY picky about who cuts my hair and rarely go back to one person more than 2-3 times. BUT, I am so thankful that I found Suite V and Vanessa. I love this hair salon! Vanessa is an amazing stylist and is talented both with cut and color. I really trust her with my hair and she's also great to talk to! Vanessa always makes sure that I'm happy and I feel comfortable letting her know if I ever need any minor adjustments. Cristi is great, I walked into the salon not knowing what to do with my hair, I needed a change badly! She was very intuitive and knowledgeable giving suggestions in what we should do to make that happen! By then I was game. I had color done before on my hair, and I was never soo happy like this time, My hair suddenly had a lot more volume and the color looks soooo natural! Like I was meant to be born with it. She rocks! I've had Vanessa style my hair for the past 8 years and I was so excited when she opened her own shop in Crown Heights! Wow! All I can say is wow! Cristi B was my colorist, and after my visit I decided she is the only colorist allowed to touch my hair. She took my hair from a very dark brown to light blush with silvery tones. I am living my cotton candy fantasy and it's sickening! Cristi was able to drastically bleach my hair with basically no damage. Like my hair feels the exact same as it did before. She really knows what she's doing. If you're looking to stand out in any crowd or just need a change, I'd definitely suggest giving Cristi a visit! Also Suite V is a beautiful salon and is so welcoming! I was thinking about how great my hair is still looking after (*checks IG*) SEVEN MONTHS and how I'm due for another haircut from Veronica. I wanted to make sure I'd left a review and how whack that I didn't. It's not just that the haircut was fire, but the whole experience was on! I still remember being welcomed to the salon, getting a cup of tea, and having great conversation all while getting a great look. Veronica asked if I wanted to do anything with my color, but my broke bih self had to hold off, and she didn't repeat the question or try to push me into any further services or products to buy, which I really appreciated. Feeling pretty bad after my hair cut today, took a while, hair texture feels terrible and I have jagged hair edges upfront. Honestly I feel worse coming out of that appointment than I did going in and going right home to wash off the insane amount of product in my hair. Is a shame as it was quite expensive and a lengthy affair. And I decided to add more to this review after getting home. I tried tying my hair and there are ragged ends everywhere. The salon, attention because it's located conveniently by the B44 bus stop and only two blocks away from the 3 train Nostrand Avenue station. The salon has a very stylish vibe. What keeps me coming back is Veronica. She specializes in curly hair and I always have a hard time finding somebody who will cut my curly hair in a way that keeps me happy days after I leave the salon. Veronica does that. It is SO hard to find someone you trust with your hair. I was looking to go from very long hair to pretty short--I went through about 5 "just a trim" trial haircuts with different people and just didn't trust them to make the big leap. Then I found Jacob! Jacob is not only one of the nicest, most genuine people you'll meet, but he is a magical wizard with scissors and the best thing to ever happen to my hair . Seriously, if you're only so-so about your latest hair cut, come see Jacob and you will know true hair love. My hair is that weird curly-wavy-in-between that likes to do weird flippy things when it's short, but Jacob took me from long to short AND left my hair beautiful and weird-flippy-free. Alright so I don't do Yelp reviews but I specifically told Vanessa (the owner and amazing stylist that did my hair) that I would because I LOVE my haircut. As a curly haired lady it is almost traumatic going to a new stylist but I knew I could trust Vanessa the moment she asked me about whether or not a had put my hair up or slept on it because my curls weren't consistent.
