My experience with this practice is consistent with the negative reviews from other patients. I was referred to this practice in 2023 with fullness in my ear following a cold. A surgery was performed by Dr. Sujana Chandrasekhar that left me with a debilitating echo when speaking, making day-to-day life very challenging for years now. I also experienced the 2+ hour wait times for appointments like other patients, and post-surgery the doctor was unavailable for several weeks. I am grateful to two other doctors who have been working together very hard for 2+ years to fix the damage from the original surgery. After 5 corrective surgeries I have 75% of my hearing restored, though still with residual permanent damage. The management team of this practice has a real opportunity to introduce accountability, and improve operations and quality. I would strongly recommend others go to another competent practice in NYC. read more

She listens! A brilliant doctor, but she also has a unique gift of a true healer. When I was having general problems because of a bad reaction to radiation treatment, she was able to help me when other doctors just shrugged. Probably the finest doctor I've ever had. Unprofessional, unapologetic disregard for scheduling delays and blatant disregard for your time. I scheduled an appointment with Dr C after two episodes of vertigo and hearing loss. She cancelled the appointment. I rescheduled for 8:15am not knowing the office was not in the original appointment location. This added to the time it will take me to get to my office from hers. I arrived early, she arrived late. If you are a person with a tight schedule, be very careful about the time and place you schedule with her. It's 9:30 and I still have not been seen for an 8:15 am appointment. I work an hour away. I truly hope she is worth the wait. I find waits like this to be very unprofessional and disrespectful. In no other Business is it acceptable to unapologetically disregard appointment times. Time is money. read more

Dr. Chandrasekhar is amazing! The comments from Daryll H. are spot-on. I have had ear 'issues' since I was 2-years-old and have been to many Otologists and she is the best Otologist and best doctor I have ever had. When I was young, I had annual myringotomies and more recently tympanoplasties. Dr. Chandrasekhar performed one and more recently inserted a Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA). She is not only highly professional, active as a researcher in her field, up-to-date on all the latest advances and break-through, and an excellent doctor, but she treats her patients as human beings. She never makes me feel rushed and takes all the necessary time to answer all my questions, explain all the pros and cons of a procedure, and does all this with warm good humor. Dr. Chandrasekhar is a very unique and special doctor. I recommend her unreservedly to anyone! read more

I would highly recommend Dr. Chandreskhar, who specializes in hearing loss and vertigo. She conducts advanced testing to determine what is going on, which resulted in me being diagnosed with meneire's disease. I found her to be extremely competent, caring and easy going. read more

Try elsewhere first. I read the two positive reviews and tried her. I think Dr. Chandrasekhar herself seemed knowledgeable, but the office and the whole experience was terrible. One i went to an appointment, waited 45 minutes, got tired of waiting, asked, and only then was told she was running 1 1/2 hours behind. Pretty lame not to tell me in advance or just reschedule. She also prescribed for me something that the insurance company considered experimental procedure. It was painful and resulted in long-term ringing in my ears. That was pretty poor form not to be informed it was experimental and the risks beforehand. Finally, I had a follow up question after I saw her, and I've called and spoken with people who said they'd ask her and call me back, like 5 times, and still haven't gotten an answer. :( read more

She's a genius! And a genuinely caring person. I have Meniere's Disease which was really interfering with my life. It took her a while but she was able to get it under control, which was a lifesaver. I'm amazed at the negative reviews, which bear no relationship to the person I know. The only criticism which was somewhat valid was that she was not good at keeping to her schedule. She switched practice groups about 18 months ago and this one is better organized so that problem was not as much of an issue the last time I saw her. In any event she's worth the wait-- just be prepared to bring stuff to read. She takes a lot of time with each patient and doesn't rush. read more

I went to see Dr. Chandrasekhar for a 2:00pm appointment. I did not see the doctor until 3:45pm. There was screaming and yelling between the doctors assistants and waiting patients. It sort of felt like one was on the Jerry Springer show. Upon visiting Dr. Chandrasekhar I found her attitude extremely arrogant and as if the patients time isn't of value. She does not accept insurance, and if you have an inner ear issue your 90 minutes of waiting for an appointment will give you an office visit where she will maybe spend 5-10 minutes with you. Overall her office lacks organization, attention to patient detail, and pretty much good common courtesy. My advice is try another ENT before visiting Dr. Chandrasekhars cash only operation. read more

Best. Doctor. Ever. I went to see Dr. C for an inner ear issue I was having (she's a otolarynologist or whatever they're called) -- it had been horribly misdiagnosed for 18 months and left me kinda wacked out. She pretty much figured out the general problem without even doing an exam, and sent me to a bunch of other specialists for further testing. The specialists she sent me to were just as high-end as she was, and I couldn't be happier with them. Some of my followups involved wacky testing with people that had no appointments for 3 or 4 months -- she of course made a couple of calls and got me in in a week or two. She also had my case reviewed with the guy who wrote the book (literally) on vesibular/sensorimotor function, and was supposedly the "#1 doctor in the world" for this particular problem. Basically whenever I need to see any sort of doctor, I'm just going to ask her for a reference, because everyone she knows is made of gold. Also, she is the coolest person ever, and I don't call you cool unless you really are. In fact, you, the person reading this, are probably only 1/47th as cool as Dr. C. Badass! read more

I have never encountered a more condescending,arrogant doctor. I was appalled to hear her suggest that I had never been in that office, had never had any tests there and that perhaps I was confused about where I was. I am a retired counselor with 2 masters degrees and knew exactly where I was and the tests I had already had done in THAT office 6 months earlier. As she turned her back to leave me on that note, her secretary presented ALL the tests and office visit that she claimed I had no idea about. She never even apologized for her error, just left with the words that if I wanted her help I should take these tests again. She then SLAMMED the door behind her. RUDE! ARROGANT! I would not change her or give my care to any other Dr. I had followed her to the different offices she has moved to. She has provided great care for my daughter as well. I was referred to Dr. Chandrasekhar by an ENT of another specialty whom I trust completely. After 4 and a half months of evaluations following 3 severe vertigo attacks and other symptoms, as good fortune would have it I was given a thorough evaluation by this most competent, kind, and sensitive doctor who has excellent listening and clinical dx skills. She gave me a diagnosis and recommendations for a balance disorder and carefully explained what to do to manage condition. She really took the time to answer my questions and make sure I understood. She and office staff follow through and are excellent. I highly recommend this doctor. read more

I researched to find a specialist in otosclerosis, a hereditary condition that presented 27 years ago during my first pregnancy. My physician from 27 years ago, Dr. Noel Cohen, retired many years ago and Dr. Chandrasekhar studied under him. I am a chemotherapy nurse in Manhattan and have a lot of experience in the medical field. After seeing multiple doctors for my hearing loss, I feel blessed that I found Dr. C. She is personable, bright, sensitive and explains everything in a way that is understandable. I had a right ear stapeotomy yesterday at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. While I don't know the amount of hearing I regained yet, the experience deserves an A+. I chatted again with her before surgery and she confirmed that she would be doing the surgery and once again, reviewed the surgical plan. In my opinion, she is not only a true professional but also a sensitive and articulate woman who cares about her patients. If you have a problem with your hearing....go see Dr. Chandrasekhar. I wish I had checked out the reviews more carefully before making an appointment. Her credentials seemed good, and since my hearing has deteriorated recently, I wanted to find a competent neurotologist. Unfortunately I'll never know how good she may be, or if she's any good at all. My appointment was for 1pm and I arrived at 12:30 as requested, to do paper work. At 1:05 I asked receptionist how long it would be, and I was told the doctor hadn't arrived yet and had 1 patient before me!! I was ready to walk out at that point, but decided to stay a little longer. She finally arrived at about 1:25, bringing along 3 people, whom she told "I'll get you in", or words to that effect. So now I'm 3rd in line!! No way!! There are hundreds of competent otologists in NYC, and any doctor who displays such disrespect for patients is not worth bothering with. That's a form of "medical arrogance" that is totally unacceptable, and will undoubtedly be evident in the clinical sphere as well. read more

I only wish I can give her minus one star she is a horrible. Dr. Chandrasekhar is a horrible practitioner who is only in this profession for the money and accepted my son as her patient only to treat him as her Guinea pig. She has no heart and no care for how difficult it will be for a young adult to have to now deal with this after being seen after so many visit and yet still has had no success. On his second to last visit with her which was his post visit she came in to see him and literally walked over saw the site of the surgery she then left the room to speak to the Audiologist to be able to book my son with her and never returned. My son and I grew anxious and so we went out front only to be told by the receptionist that she had an emergency and had to leave I proceeded to ask why no one came to inform us only because we travel afar for the visit and all of a sudden the security officers was called as if we were doing something wrong. Dr. Chandrasekhar never called to apologize and she is still billing me till this day for that visit. I returned to see her after seeing the Audiologist only because the surgery had already been done and there was no turning back and because the Audiologist asked me to, only to find out that the magnet that she placed in my son's head wasn't attaching properly. That was my last visit. Again still no letter of apology but bills she does send for the 2 visits that she feels she should get paid for when she never should have .
