I am usually the type to not review a place of business. I tend to rely on the commentary of others. I read and pick apart reviews to make my determination of whether or not to give a place a try. I just hardly ever make reviews. Whether my experience is good or bad. Again, this is rare for me and could quite possibly be my only review online lol. I did notice bad reviews on here, which confuses me, because my experience was nothing short of amazing. If these reviews are true I think it shows that Sullivan Auto Trading has made some vast improvements. Now to my review: Sullivan Auto Trading. This is what every car buying experience should be. In fact, this is what I believe every sales experience should be. My sales rep, Trey, gave honest unbiased information so that I could make the best choice. Not once was I pressured. Not once was I rushed. Not once did I feel like I wasn't a priority. As a person that once worked in the sales industry I know that the culture is set from the very top, kudos to ownership! These guys prioritize their customer's experience and overall relationship over lining their pockets. This is the complete opposite feeling you get when you're at T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon or AT&T and the sales rep keeps asking you to buy overpriced accessories or insurance. There's literally no pressure at anytime throughout your visit. I was searching for another car for about 2 months. I'm pretty patient when it comes to making purchases. I found Sullivan Auto Trading's ad on one of those car buying sites. I'm pretty skeptical about everything so I placed a call just to check if the deal advertised was some type of sales or marketing gimmick. Nope, just genuine folks here. I knew once I hung up the phone with Trey that I would be a customer for life. Needless to say, but our conversation barely lasted 3 minutes lol. You just know a good person when you talk to one. Eager to make my purchase, I left work early and headed there. I'll spare you the rest of the details, but every single person there went the extra mile to make sure that my experience was pleasant. It's rare that you go somewhere and actually remember names. I mean I just can't compliment these guys enough. Trey, thank you buddy. You're an amazing sales rep. Sullivan Auto Trading is lucky to have you. Will (owner), thank you as well. I appreciate your honesty and willingness to take the time to answer every question and explain every single detail. Can't forget Bryce. Thank you as well. I appreciate your help and courtesy. If I have any door dings and such I'll be in touch. Seriously car buyers, if you are looking for a car you need to go here. Make sure you ask for Trey. He's pretty amazing. Oh and one last thing. Pricing.. How did I do this review and mention pricing last? Just goes to show how pleased I am with my visit. Sullivan Auto Trading's pricing just can't be matched. I purchased the 75k mile extended warranty in addition and was still THOUSANDS cheaper than my budget. It is truly unbelievable. It almost felt like I was stealing. Just to give you an idea of how affordable Sullivan Auto Trading is, I called several friends with the same car. Mine just happens to be a 2017. They purchased the 2015 models brand new from a dealership. My payments are over $200 per month cheaper and I have less mileage than they do.. Not bragging just giving you some context. Hopefully my review helps nudge you in the right direction if you're thinking this is one of those sketchy dealerships. I seriously can't say enough good about them. Every person I come in contact with will be referred here and to see Trey. Thanks guys! read more

There are many companies out there claiming to be "Christian owned and operated." Anyone can make a claim but their actions tell the true story when they're tested. When money is involved, the cost of doing business often trumps faith. But, there are exceptions... My wife and I looked for a good used vehicle for our son who was starting his first year of college. Having researched the reputation of Toyota and having purchased 2 used ones in the past with which we were pleased, we found a competitive deal at Sullivan Auto Trading on a 2006 Rav4. We attempted to be very careful in our selection with our limited budget of $9,000, questioning the Sales Person at Sullivan's carefully re: Car Fax, Recalls, the inspection process, etc. We could not afford the extended warranty, but we felt confident that this vehicle would serve our son throughout his college years and maybe a little beyond. Our son took good care of his car, changing the oil as prescribed and addressing a couple minor recalls for which he was notified. About 1 year and 3 months after we made the purchase, an engine rod shoot through the engine block, and the engine needed to be replaced. There seemed to be no reason other than: sometimes bad things happen, and no one could have seen this coming. We were at a loss as to what we should do. We had just spent all we had to help our son get started. I felt there was no hope of getting any help from the dealership which sold us the car due to my past life experience with car dealers and with businesses in general. My wife was motivated differently by our past experience; she wanted to see God work through a Christian business man and prayerfully called Sullivan's anyway. Austin Sullivan took time to listen to our appeal, and although he could have, as a business man, have said "that's the cost of doing business," he did not. Much to my surprise, he took time to research what he could do for our family and helped us meet the need by providing an engine at cost to us and installing it at his own cost. We cannot thank them enough for their willingness to put their money where their faith is and helping our family recover more quickly from a devastating blow than we would have been able to otherwise. We praise God for the way they reflected Him in this situation. In light of this experience, we highly recommend them. read more

Will and Austin were both great people to work with. I think they may own the place. But here is what happened to me. I live in NC and this dealership is about 5 hours from me. I found a car on their website and reached out to the sales guy. He followed up quickly with me and we actually worked out a deal over the phone. I couldn't make it up to VA for another week so i paid $500 down to pull the car off their website for me. So fast forward 1 week later. The sales guy knew i was driving 5 hours up to trade in my car and pick up the new one (used one). So when I arrive the sales guy didn't even have the car pulled up and cleaned. In fact ,he had to put a new battery in the car just so it would run. Then once he let me test drive it, i found numerous other things wring with it including the air conditioning unit not working, the car mats and floor were dirty and I mean dirty, there was no antenna, and the driver side door and backdoor would not lock. It just blows my mind that they knew i was driving up 5 hours to pick up this car and they hadn't as much as even started the car to make sure it even ran. At this point I'm fairly upset and that is when Will and Austin jumped in. They were apologetic about the car not being cleaned and such. The allowed me to drive it back to NC and take it to a Jeep dealership to have the repairs done. They agreed to pay for the repairs themselves which cost around $1200. So that was very admirable of them and I wont take that away. Now that was the end of May when I purchased the car. I expected them to have my tags transferred in the next month or so, but that didnt happen. I've waited over 2 months to have my tags/paperwork transferred to the NC DMV. Why it took so long is beyond me. And I had to carry the car i traded in on my insurance until i had proof the car tag was transferred. In other words, i had to pay for insurance on 3 cars for 2 months when i only owned 2 cars. The car I purchased has had the check engine light come on 3 times already in 2 months. Its cost me about $250 dollars all together to have minor repairs done on it. So overall, i think the owners are good guys and not out looking to pull one over on anyone, but the supporting operations team is the one's that i really question. Overall, I would recommend using them...just take caution. read more

I saw the car I was looking for a good while for a great price at Sullivan's. Got a prompt response when I called to see if the car was still available and came up from Southern NC. My salesman Brad was awesome in answering any questions I had and even checked in for my ETA the day of to make sure the car was ready at the front of the lot for me to check out. No hassle at all or pressure in the slightest. Took it out for a test drive and was sold already. The car ran great and was in great shape as described by Brad. The trading and buying process was a breeze and I ended up getting more than what would normally be offered for the car on KBB. The GSM, Mr. Will Sullivan was beyond a class act. Very respectful, articulate, and very understanding. He's a great guy who runs his business the right way. He took care of our paper work in no time, was extremely patient and willing to explain and address any questions or concerns. A real stand up gentleman. He locked us in a great APR, explained all warranty options and was very transparent and honest on fees and every other small, intricate detail other managers wouldn't readily share with a customer. I couldn't be happier with the trading process here. After everything was signed and ready, Brad personally hand washed and assisted the detailing staff and had the car prepped and ready to go shining in no time. He's a class act as a salesmen. Highly recommend reaching out to him if you have any questions on anything on their lot. He will respond promptly and do what he can to make sure everything is ready to go. Sullivan has a HUGE selection and quite honestly, one of the most impressive lot and detailing/service bay you could find anywhere. They are the epitome of good business and honest values. Give these guys a visit, it's well worth the trip and you'll be treated with respect and feel at ease with some of the stress that comes with used car buying. Ask for Brad and another shoutout to Brad and Mr. Sullivan himself for the outstanding service and getting me into a great car I can depend on. read more

My wife and I went over to Sullivan Auto Trading on Saturday, February 9th, 2019. We were looking at a 2013 Camaro that they had on their lot for a first car for our son. My wife had texted Brian Saunders in their Sales department about the car before they even had pictures up and he was very responsive and even immediately took and sent us pics of it so we could see it before it was detailed. We had been looking in a 200 mile radius for the last few weeks and this seemed to be the most promising from the mileage, advertised condition and pricing. Upon arriving at the dealership, we were greeted within seconds by Brad McDaniel. The dealership was very busy but he was upfront that there was a little wait and immediately brought the car around so we could look at it. He offered us to take as long a test drive as we liked. The car itself was very much as advertised. It ran and drove smoothly and looked very presentable. After examining it we decided that it was a good fit for our son and a great price. No used car is "perfect" but all things considered, their inventory is varied and as clean as any I have seen. We then sat down with Will Sullivan who was going to assist us with the paperwork to complete the purchase. Will was very friendly and offered us a number of different options without any pressure. He was very fast and covered everything we needed quickly and politely. After that Brad made sure we were happy with the process and took the car and put gas in it for our trip home. Everyone there was friendly, down to earth and the family business aspect is a huge plus. The Camaro made the trip great and we have already done our own detailing from top to bottom. It looks amazing and our son is in love with it. A car like that for a first vehicle is pretty special and Sullivan's did their part to make sure that his first experience buying was just as great as the car itself. Thanks to everyone at Sullivan Auto Trading, we appreciate it! read more

I recommend this company most strongly and will probably go to them again in the future. Should a contact be desired, I can be reached via email at davisrpc@gmail.com. I bought a used car at Sullivan Auto Trading from Will Sullivan about a week ago. I used the USAA (TrueCar) Car Buying Service to narrow down my search. The vehicle appearance, both inside and out, was excellent, it had low mileage for the age of the vehicle and the sticker was well below the TrueCar recommended average market price. This was to the point were I asked and was told that Sullivan Auto Trading made money through volume aided by pricing for quicker turnaround of stock. Although many used cars are bought "As Is", Sullivan's has a 30-warranty for powertrain related issues which, in my opinion, is quite reasonable since my experience has been that many problems in this area tend to emerge rather quickly once you take the vehicle home. Unfortunately, my issue was in the suspension which was not covered by the warranty. I called Will Sullivan, explained the situation and he asked me to bring the car in such that they could see if it was something that, in their opinion, they should have caught. The Shop Supervisor looked at the car and came to the conclusion that the problem should have been caught. Sullivan Auto Trading fixed my vehicle at no charge and it was not a particularly low cost repair. There was no legal obligation under which they had to make this fix but they chose to take on a moral obligation and I am most appreciative. In my opinion, I got a good deal on a nice used car but the customer service acumen exhibited has been outstanding across the board from salesman to sales to admin to technician. read more

My wife and I were in the market for a new minivan and we were searching online for something affordable . We came across a 2008 chrysler town and country with low miles for a great price. It was a holiday and when I called I was told everyone was leaving at 6 so if we were able to make it they would be happy to help us. It was about 430 when I called and we live about an hour away so i called and asked if another day would be better because we would end up being so close to closing, the lady I spoke with said to come on over and that it was fine . So we drove there and got in about 530 there was 2 people working and Donald seemed more than happy to stay and help us . I was very surprised at the level of service we received coupled with the no pressure sales environment they let us look at the car and take it for a test drive with absolutely no pressure no typical sales tactics and a refreshingly pleasing experience . They offered me a fair trade in value and a fair price on the minivan as well as transparency that I am definitely not used to coming from a sales person Donald was the only one there after a short time of us being there and he told us repeatedly to take our time think it over . He ended up staying there with us until about 830, I really feel that these are people who are concerned not just about making money but the experience their customers receive and making sure they provide the best service they possibly can while not putting pressure on the client to buy. These are people who operate with integrity and have spent time and energy building a good reputation. I will be looking them up for sure on my next purchase !! read more

I have waited 3 months intentionally to write a review after my purchasing experience here at Sullivan Auto Trading. The whole team was fantastic, from Don searching and finding the exact vehicle at an unbelievable price. To Will working my payments and hooking me up with Virginia Credit Union. It may have been fate, I told Don what I wanted, and within one week he called me to come in. The truck (2010 Colorado 4 full door 4wd with the 5.3 V8), had been very well taken care of, too clean to believe the miles. Already equipped with a color matching cap. All the times I came to look the sales team was awesome, Brad, Josh, Ken, and Scott all helped me with no pressure, I told them what I was after. Will worked his magic in the finance department, formed a relationship with another credit union for me, a 5.9% rate on an 8 year old vehicle, and a 2 year warranty only changed my payment by dollars. Although the tires when it came in were not a state inspection issue, I wanted a new set of Michelins, Will was able to put those into my loan. Nancy and the techs got my tires in and on the truck same afternoon. I came to get my oil changed on their "Single Parent Saturday" where they hook up folks with free oil changes, car washes, free food. They had a live band and moon bounces for the kids. What a way to give back to the community and sharing the love of Jesus. 3 months later I know where I'm going to for service, half off oil changes and free va inspections for the rest of the time I own it, which should be a while, I am going to take it to at least 300,000 miles. ***TIP FOR CAR SHOPPERS*** Look no further! read more

I have purchased two vehicles from Sullivan's this summer. It all started through a question to a fellow train rider at Leeland Station who purchased a Highlander. She loved the dealership and the treatment she and her husband received. Subsequently, I got two more raves from folks on the train. We went to visit and it's an unassuming place with around 200+ vehicles and a great inventory online. We were treated courteously and professionally - which was desired. We went home not finding the one wanted yet. No badgering and no repeat calls from these guys. We then found online a vehicle that we wanted and used TrueCar and Edmunds to check prices. Also compared against other dealerships, Carmax, etc. I mean really a great price (exceptional was the tag). Went to test drive and it was clean, ran well and had low mileage. Put down a reasonable deposit and then drove it. We loved it and purchased same on the spot. Financing beat my Credit Union and the process took an hour to do. Easy, really. Good thing we didn't wait as a couple came in as they were putting on our temp plates and wanted to buy the same car. The Sullivan family and their folks are special. It's a model for the used car market. I would highly recommend them for purchase and I will write again about their service (discounts for buyers for the life of the car) when I use it. Can say their paint shop is grand as well. Don't leave them out of your planning. read more

I had a wonderful experience here and I am so glad that I made the hour trip to look at my now Lexus. I had looked all over Richmond but I couldn't find the exact car I was looking for. I called Sullivan and I was greeted by Ken, who was very polite and professional. I asked him about the car and he was upfront and honest about the condition of the car and he answered all of my questions. We drove up the following day to look at the vehicle and it was exactly how Ken had described it. Since I was coming from out of town, I was very impressed that Ken was upfront and on time to meet me. I fell in love with the car after the test drive. I went up and spoke with one of the owners who was wonderful and took the time to go over the car and any concerns I had. Even though I was buying a used car, I felt like I was getting the service of purchasing a brand new car. He took the time with me to explain how the procedure worked and made sure I understood everything, which I consider above and beyond. I was impressed with their building, their friendliness, and their willing to help. What could have been a complete disaster ended up being one of my best experiences. I would highly recommend them to any family or friends. As a woman I am always a little concerned about buying a new car, but everything worked out. I am so grateful for this experience! read more

I found Sullivan Auto Trading while searching the internet. Found that when searching for best price on a vehicle. There vehicle's would fill the page. I told my wife that I wanted to go check a couple of dealers in Fredericksburg Va. As this was a surprise for my daughters birthday, my wife and I set out. We found these folks across from the Big Honda dealer. Very big selection to choose from. We found a vehicle that fit perfect within our budget. They prices are well below most all dealers that we had shopped. As we told our salesperson, we wanted to go to lunch to talk about it. Absolutely no pressure at all from them. As we where returning from lunch, my wife said. Lets just check out this place called CarWeb. Wow is all I can say. This was a creepy place. We got out of there swiftly. Went back to Sullivan, Scott our salesperson got a little information from us and said I will be right back. Within one minute a gentleman greeted us a ask us to follow him upstairs. We where done with in twenty minutes with all paperwork. This place is the real deal, no games or gimmicks. Just great deals and they just make it painless. Great job folks!! read more

Haven't bought a car from here yet, definitely will be going back to check out more of the lot to find something I like. Found something I liked online, went that night to look at it without the escort of a sales rep, it looked incredible compared to what I saw online. However, I saw that there was a lot of undercoating under the car which is often used to hide rust problems. Wrote it off because undercoating is also a protective seal. Went back in a couple of days later to check on the car ask some questions and such, brought a mechanic with me. Before the employee even wasted my time, he told me point blank, it's got a lot of rust problems. Very appreciative of the honesty. I have access to get good deals at other dealerships but based on my experience here, so far, I will definitely be checking their inventory specifically until I find something I like. Their inventory has changed a lot over the recent years and although they're still pulling cars from auction, they seem to be getting the technique with this. I will update my experience when I go to follow through with purchasing a car from here. read more

I purchased a 2010 Ford Explorer from Sullivan Auto Trading this year and here is my review. The suv was super clean. I live in ct and drove to Virginia to pick this up with my daughter. It was a cool road trip. We rented a Jeep from enterprise and they were great on both ends. Pick up and drop off was super easy and they were very professional. The suv was a great drive home, however on the way we found the DVD player was found to not work properly. I contacted the dealer and they arranged the repair almost immediately. All set and painless. After a few weeks I heard a noise under the truck so I dropped it at the dealer and put the warranty to use. They are GREAT. The ford dealer that did the service said they were super easy to deal with and were also very professional and prompt. I did receive my plates today so all in all this was a great purchase from a great dealer. Sullivan auto get 2 thumbs up. They are solid and stand behind their vehicles and are true to their word. Thanks guys. I'd take the drive again in a second. Brian In CT read more

Sullivan Auto Trading is an honest dealership that's doing its best. It's hard selling used cars because you never truly know what you're getting into. I bought a 2006 Jeep Liberty from them over a year ago now and they have always been helpful and friendly from the time they sell the car to a Year out. I have had several problems with my car like all cars but what makes me really happy is their willingness to stick with me and help me through all the problems. They don't just sell you a car and leave you high and dry they make sure you're happy with your purchase and have cut me several deals while making minor and major repairs to my vehicle. Violet at the service desk is very helpful and always goes the extra mile to make sure I'm informed and satisfied with routine maintenance. Its hard to find a dealership now a days that you can trust but I believe they truly are looking out for their customers and when they make a mistake they admit it and try their best to make it right! All around good business. read more

I bought a 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT 8, sight unseen, in May of 2021. The car was just as advertised and the pictures they posted were fully representative of what I saw in person. My salesman, Scott Riley was very helpful and easy to work with. He assured me that I was buying what I saw, made sure the car was fully detailed and serviced prior to my arrival. I had to fly in from Kansas to Richmond, Scott arrived promptly the following morning and drove me to the dealership. There were no surprises, the pricing, financing and registration work had all been completed by email prior, and there were no "last second" unforeseen price adjustments. I was extremely nervous about flying half way across the US to buy a car from an unknown dealership. I am extremely happy with the service, promptness and honesty that I received. Thank you to Scott Riley, Ken Irwin and Austin Sullivan for "up front" dealing. Jeff D. - Derby, KS read more

I love the team at Sullivan Auto. I was nervous about buying a vehicle from any place except a dealership. However, I really liked a vehcile I saw online and they had it. We went to check it out and had an experience like no other. Josh was a knowledgeable, friendly salesman who knew just the right balance to make us feel comfortable. Austin made me feel like buying a car and getting a loan was easiest thing in the world. Watching him work to get us the best rate was stellar. In between, everyone who stopped by said hello and was genuinely happy as they went about their business. My husband and I have been back to Sullivan's and gotten 4 vehicles from them over the years. We never hesitate to refer friends and family. I know they will treat them like their friends and family. We were blessed with a great bunch of people when we stepped on that car lot. I'm sure you will be, too! read more

This is, hands down; the very best auto dealership I have dealt with. I've been through the car buying process many times in several different states in the last 25 years, and this is the first time I could confidently say that I will be back for the next car I buy. I went to Sullivan's with my daughter for her very first car. They were incredibly respectful, they answered all of our questions, and they were FAST!!! Imagine this, once we decided after her test drive that she wanted to buy the car, the entire process, including filling out paperwork and credit check --only took 45 minutes!!! My mind was blown! I have walked into dealerships on the last 4 occasions buying the exact car on the lot that I wanted and the process took 4-6 hours every time. To have the process this time only take 45 minutes was something I never dreamed possible. 10/10. Definitely signing up again. read more

I'm compelled to write this review less because I received a great deal on my second car purchased from Sullivan (which I did) and more because of the other reviews here on Yelp. I rely on numerous sources for advice and for restaurants Yelp reviews are always helpful. But the negative descriptions of Sullivan are 100% counter to my experiences. It seems that all of their ratings are either a 1 star or 4+. When reading the 1 star ones, most are incredible and if you examine the profile, many have only ever given ONE review. The used car business, especially in the Fredericksburg area is cutthroat. I suspect that some of these single reviewers are plants from the competition. If you look at their ratings by nearly 300 reviewers, they average 4.9 out of five, while Yelp is much lower. Stick with Yelp for food and drink reviews and ignore the haters trashing Sullivan. read more

This was the best car buying experience we have had in years even with Hagerstown Toyota which took 2 weeks and they only gave us one option on a brand new car which was nice but it felt like it was never ending to be in our new car Cause every time u turned around they wanted this and that. Well our sales guy Will at Sullivan auto was amazing and very attentive and was very pleasant and didn't put any type of pressure on us And was a very honest guy.as well as the other fellows working there. He made our purchase of a 2010 Chevy Camaro ss v8 with only 11,000 miles happen and within a timely manner. We was def in and out. They didn't rush us in or out had great convo while we was there waiting. We will def be going back for more purchases in the future. We love our new car. I def recommend this dealership and will be telling people about you all. read more
