It's easy to find, it's got enough selection that I can find what I'm looking for, and it's even…read moregot a few things the wife likes! Really, if you're not looking for anything too specialized, you can't go wrong here. I've had great experiences with the staff, had some fun looking for unfamiliar things to try, and popped in on more than one occasion to get libations for a fancy home-cooked dinner. It gets three stars because getting in and out of the parking lot is *not* fun, and because the selection, while adequate, is limited. Although, bonus points for being able to do laundry next door!

Along with the usual liquors and such, Markham Liquor has a pretty decent wine selection. Though…read morethe parking lot gets pretty cramped and is kinda in the hood, I gave this place four stars because of the people... 1. they're really nice and are good as far as giving suggestions on what sorts of wine/liquor you want. 2. when i had to move, they were nice enough to give me their spare wine boxes and helped me put them in my car 3. 10% off wine days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays! shhhh, and if you whine enough and say you THOUGHT it just so happened to be the day you walk in, they just might give you the discount anyway. :) yay! 4. Oh...and if you're worried about missing any of the professional wrestling action, they have a tv at the register tuned to that. I don't know if it's just looking forward to that evening out or what, but I always find myself in a good mood after walking out of Markham Liquor. The people just simply know how to keep it real (or whatever that means).

Not only do they have a glass recycling area, but the people who work there have always been polite and attentive. And their prices are comparable to other places, if not lower! Give this business a try! (And if they could just do some landscaping, I'd give them 5 stars!!!!)

Do not ever shop here. Or if you do, pay with cash. I drove through yesterday afternoon and…read morerequested (1) 6 pack of Monaco drinks and (1) 6 pack of Yuengling. I handed over my debit card but could not understand the total that the guy said. So, I asked for my receipt. He said no, you don't have one. I said it's a card purchase that I didn't even sign for or put a PIN in, I should have a receipt. I sat in the drive through not moving until the charge came through my online banking app, about 2 minutes. He had charged the card for $51.29. I immediately got his attention at the window and said how on earth do 2 6 packs cost over $50?!?! He stammered and stuttered and said, well hand me your card back and I'll give you a refund. Never said exactly what was being refunded. This time when he swipes the card, he produces a receipt with a supposed credit of $20.15. Not sure how I could now magically get a receipt and it wasn't allowed five minutes earlier. Today, my bank says he did not give me a credit...he actually charged my card again for $20.15. I've paid over $70 for 2 six packs. I will not ever step foot in this place again and hope that anyone else considering it will read this review first.

Shocked, I say! **I had to ding a star - while I love this place and every positive thing I and every other reviewer has said is absolutely true, I've been in two or three times now and they didn't have the beers I was looking for. Still a great place, but it is simply too small to keep a true variety of offerings regularly stocked. It's a teeny, tiny place smack in the middle(ish) of Hillcrest, and it's one of the single most popular stores in the area, especially on a hot day. I personally love their beer fridge, because it's refreshing on a hot day, a shocker on a cold one, and it is full to the brim of delicious, scrumptious, well-traveled, filling, refreshing, beautiful beer. They have stacks of Diamond Bear and Lost Fourty, as well as a wide variety of brews from our neighbors across state lines, in all directions. I've found everything from local favorites on my to-try list, to obscure familiar bottles from my past lives in Portland (i.e. Rogue "Dead Guy"), San Francisco (i.e. Anchor Lager), and in between. They strike the same balance of local love, neighborly sharing, and reasonable selection in their wine and liquor shelves too - something that's all the more shocking because this shop is *tiny* I go here to get my wife's favorite wines, my favorite beers, and something or other to have under my arm to impress any host from a dinner party connoisseur to an indiscriminate guzzler. The location is a really nice perk on First Thursday (the first Thursday of every month) where you can walk up and down Hillcrest and be greeted with complimentary gifts from businesses, but also because it's a rare occasion where you can have a beer on a public street. I've also had consistently great experiences heckling and/or chatting with the staff here, although I don't think I've ever seen the same people twice!
