There were times I would say hi to them, and instead of being nice, they would respond rudely or try to find something I was doing wrong. Yes, it is their job, but you can be decent about it. The rules are extremely strict, which caused me to feel anxious just walking into the school, scared I'd mess one thing up. They don't allow you to be on your phone, no matter what time of the school day it is. I received a detention (which is on Saturday mornings) because my mom was texting me about my grandmothers health, updating me on her surgery. They don't care what the reason is, even if it's something understandable. They block cell service throughout the school to prevent this, which is honestly scary if something were to ever happen in the building. The deans make it there lifes goal to shit on every student no matter when or where. Some teachers are very good at good counsel, but many are careless. I had teachers not grade my work for multiple weeks, which caused me to be stressed about my grade the whole quarter. Another thing is that the food is horrible. They make it seem so good during shadow visits, tours, etc. The food is of poor quality, and there were times it wasn't even warm. The school throws problems under the rug that involve staff that affect the students who go there, lying to everyone about the true reasons things happen to make the school seem better. Lying in public announcements and not valuing the catholic values is something good counsel does really well. Sure, they offer mass daily, but the staff lacks in truly keeping the values. The school supports homosexuality to a point where it seems more drastic than public schools. Supporting that as a school is something that should be implied, but the way good counsel does it is too much, which makes students feel uncomfortable. From hearing the staff is seriously considering gender nutural bathrooms and that they have pride flags in rooms within the school is something I do not think a catholic school should promote as much as they do. The future of this school does not look good if you are trying to send your child to a school to avoid these things, which is a reason I went there because they made it seem so different than it is during shadow days and tours.

She has been fabulous to work with, and she's made sure we are happy with the tutors she matches us up with. Michelle always gives us options when selecting a tutor, and we've been so happy with the results. My older son was having so much trouble with virtual learning that he was failing every class. Michelle matched us with an amazing tutor that connected well with my son, tutored in the subjects he needed most, and tutored in executive functioning. With the tutor's assistance, that mostly turned out to be in executive functioning and walking him through the steps to write a huge history paper, my older son ended up with A's and B's for the rest of the year. My younger son needed some help in writing this past year. Michelle recommended what seemed to be an unusual pairing, but my son is so inspired by this writing tutor that instead of playing video games, he takes time to write pieces for her to go over with him and suggest improvements. My older son is also seeing her now as well and is gaining valuable feedback on how he can improve his school writing assignments.

So much that my child spent 4 great years at Owlets and we all cried a bit when we moved out of state and had to leave. I can't say enough about the warm, family-like environment. Teachers and classmates became a second family for my child, and families were really encouraged to get to know each other through events and gatherings. It felt like Owlets was a support system even outside of school hours. We loved the balance between structure and free play and really felt like Little Owlets prepared my daughter very well socially and knowledge-wise for kindergarten - the transition to elementary school was a breeze. My child LOVED the Montessori-inspired activity time and still talks about it. And there were so many creative and fun activities - cooking, yoga....We loved that outdoor time was emphasized in all but the worst weather and the kids got in quality outside play and exercise time. Oh, and the food was so good - I found myself envious of my child's lunches.

Happy to put another CHECK right here! Aliya and Lola are very patient and nurturing. They have plenty of teaching materials and incorporate lessons into play every day. Sona is truly a child whisperer in the way that she is able to meet children exactly where they are and lead them into their most amazing selves. The activities she engages them in fosters independence and real world transferrable skills that are evident when the kids are outside of school/care. Transitioning my son to elementary school was an absolute breeze and I whole heartedly believe that is largely in part due to Sona's investment in my child. Notably, the support, guidance, and patience she demonstrated during the COVID-19 shutdown was immeasurable. My child understood masking, germs, and protecting self and others which is wildly impressive for a then two year old who's world changed over night. Both of my children have routinely hit developmental milestones on time or ahead of schedule in an organic and supported manner. Oh and I forgot to mention, the kids get exposed to organic local produce that they learn to grow responsibly and sustainably in Sona's personal garden. I truly cannot say enough good things about Sona and her childcare center.

Outdoor time is also an important part of our program. We ensure that children are exposed to the outdoors and all the wonders that come with it. We have a fenced in outdoor play area where children can run, jump, and explore. We also take the children on supervised walks to the nearby park and have special activities, like nature scavenger hunts, that help them learn about the environment. We prioritize playtime and outdoor time because we believe it’s essential for children to develop and grow in a safe and stimulating environment.
