Went to summer house my first time back in Jan of 2016. I've been in and out of the revolving door of treatment centers/detox's and before summer house I went to sunrise house two times and then before that I went to Lumiere. Summer house was by far the best detox when it comes to withdrawal comfort and staff actually doing their jobs attending to your needs. The blind detox protocol is by far the best detox method I've used in my life. While they don't tell you what's in it, or when they start Weaning you off it they base their decisions on continuous observation. If you are noticeably still sick/detoxing they are going to extend your protocol. Always just make sure your honest with any questions the nurses ask you. If you begin to get uncomfortable a few hours after taking the medicine, if 4 hours have passed they will give you another one. When I got admitted here I was doing a large quantity of heroin per day mixing with the occasional benzo. Literally no more than 45 minutes after drinking the cocktail I was practically in a coma for the next two days (the nurses obviously took my vitals and gave me all my doses) but for a solid 48 hours I don't remember a god damn thing. The good thing about not knowing when they start decreasing your doses is you don't start giving yourself anxiety knowing you'll soon be finished with it.. TRUST ME, I've been to 16 treatment centers since turning 21-29 (I'm now currently 30 and have been on MAT) THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST MEDICINE TO TAKE AND PROTOCOL TO FOLLOW FOR DETOXING OFF OPIATES AND BENZOS!! Think about it, with suboxone you exactly what MG their giving you and exactly when you receive your last dose. Speaking from experience psychologically it's much much better to just go with the flow and not know anything. I know, sounds crazy, and it did to me at first too. But after experiencing this detox regimen twice I was proved wrong. Also, when you actually finish being given the opiate/benzo cocktail, the nurses still continue to give you these cocktails that seriously taste pretty much exactly the same but instead of being full of narcotics, it's a proven formula that includes brain booster vitamins, energy supplements, and a bunch of other shit that's supposed to ease any remaining physical withdrawal symptoms and restore a natural balance in your brain. Yes, the food is amazing but honestly the food has been amazing at every single detox I've been to, so it's really nothing to brag about. Only thing I really liked a lot better at sunrise was their showers. The showers there are enormous and top of the line. And one more huge plus about summer house is they want you to relax, and STAY RELAXED. Meaning in every other single detox I've been to, you are responsible to make sure your awake to stand and wait in the long ass med line to the nurses counter to get your sub. That shit used to take FOREVER and just overall sucked. At summer house, the nurses are courteous enough to actually bring all your prescribed meds with them to give you as well as the BP machine, thermometer, and finally the Golden Cocktail. Like I said it can be intimidating to not know what or how much of something your taking, but if you answer all the questions honestly except for applying the number one unwritten rule in giving your drug history... double that shit no matter what!! From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with tender love , kindness, and respect. This facility is beautiful, not only in the superficial sense. Everyone from the techs, housekeeping, nursing staff, chef, therapists, and the Administration shows genuine care, love, and concern for every person that walks in. SummerHouse is the best facility in town if you're looking to get clean, and it's a family owned business, and it makes you feel like if you're right at home. I've been to quite a few detox facilities and I have yet to find one quite like SummerHouse!! The food is extremely edible and delicious.. In the middle of one of the most difficult times in my life I knew I needed help from my severe alcoholism. I knew I needed to go to a detox facility. I went to summer house not knowing what to expect but they ended up saving my life. I have to say Burt went above and beyond also in every step of the way. The staff there always made sure I was comfortable and treated me with respect. Christina was always there to listen to me and was awesome. They have nurses available 24 hours and that gave me peace of mind during my detox process. They have a chef that prepares 3 meals a day and the food was always great. They have a snack room filled with unlimited snacks. The facility was clean and the rooms were really nice. They had someone who cleans the Rooms daily. They also help you guide you in the right direction for treatment afterwards. The staff knew what I was going through and had a lot of empathy. I felt like I was in a resort during my detox. Mom from NC. I appreciate your concerns. Summer House has been doing detoxes in So FL. for 22 years, a majority of the patients come from long established treatment centers. Summer House does a "blind detox" meaning you will not know substances or amounts being titrated. Suboxone is the most popular and an excellent detox drug with one draw back, you have to wait 24 hours from last opiod use. This results in irritable patients going into uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. Many cannot tolerate the wait and AMA, and nothing positive can come out of an AMA. We use a short acting liquid opiate, which we can lower the dose and safely transfer the patient onto the subutex, without the fear of them getting sick. The industry standard for opiate detox is 7 days. If there was release of information signed, his doctor would be authorized to know what the patient received. I have had the unfortunate circumstance of dealing with addiction/recovery for years. I have attended far too many detox and treatment centers ranging from California, Ohio, Nebraska and now the Miami area. Without a doubt and bar none, Summer House has been the most respectful, well organized, professional and helpful of each facility I have visited. They left me with a detailed recovery plan (and hope for the future) utilizing counsellors, administrators, behavioral technicians and even cooks. Finding a decent detox in south Florida has been a struggle. Admitting you have a problem and need help is an entire battle on its own. The admission process with Jordan was a breeze and the facility provided transportation from the hospital. Which means so much to me considering the condition I was in. The meals here are delicious and if you are a vegan/vegetarian. They will accomadate you. TJ the tech here offered so much moral support when I wanted to give up it gave me the strength to keep going. The owners of this place really care of the patients and that is there main goal is patient satisfaction. The nursing staff is more than equipped to help nurse you back to your original self. This is the only place I would go for detox!I was treated very well and always felt safe! I saw in some other reviews that people felt uncomfortable with the blind detox.I actually prefer it this way.If I know what I'm taking I automatically will think it isn't working.Most of the staff goes above and beyond!The food is FANTASTIC! I love that nothing is forced but still an option ...Activities,meetings ect....They always provide a plan to help you be successful when you leave.The cleaning staff is great! I myself went to Summerhouse 2x and the staff was very courteous and caring. Administration made me aware of all options of treatment that would work within my insurance and helped me decide what the right fit for me would be with no pressure to attend somewhere specific. The chefs made delightful meals daily and they were very nice as well.
