This vet does what I wish all vets and dr offices would do: build a spare appointment or two into the schedule every day so if a client calls with an emergency, they can see you. Right after moving to Camas, my dog started limping. They saw me the next day (they would have seen me that day if I felt it was that urgent but I opted to leave that spot open for someone else). At the time of my visit, another animal came in needing emergency care. They offered to reschedule us or I could wait in the lobby while they did their exams in the back since "our" exam room was needed. I opted to stay and wait. The dr herself and all of the staff apologized to me profusely for the disruptions even though they really didn't need to. These things happen and I never would have known there was a crisis if no one told me. It was that well handled. They also offered a discount on our visit because of it, which again was above and beyond. The care plan for my dog is reasonable and was well explained to me. I was also given alternatives if I did not agree. Very happy this is the vet closest to my house. read more

All these people care about is your money, they basically robbed me of 1000$ I went there to get my cat checked on because he was sneezing, yes I'm stupid I probably could've just waited to check things out on my own but instead I brought him in because I was scared since I had a cat die recently prior to this because of random death due to fluid in the lungs and they took advantage of me crying and being in shambles because I didn't want to see another cat die randomly in my care so they diagnosed him on the spot with asthma and basically forced me to get 700$ X-rays (after already diagnosing him) then made me buy him an inhaler and medication through their website for around 300$ where I could've just gotten it at a normal price for 80$ some where else. Not to mention the 700$ X-rays for his chest were also probably cheaper somewhere else as well but they're overpriced and just take advantage of your lack of knowledge. We've taken our dogs here since the pandemic. I've had the most experience with Dr. Turner and she is present, extremely competent, and compassionate with my dogs. Bless her. I've had the same experience with the whole staff. Everyone knows and clearly adores my dogs. My dogs love it there, which says everything I need to know. But for the humans... I've been quite impressed with their ability to get us in quickly for new issues. They are cautious about expensive treatment while prioritizing our dogs' health, and the facilities are well maintained and efficiently run. The surgical staff is excellent, and they are quick to refer to other facilities if they think my dogs would receive better care there. I've had specialty surgeons ask who my primary vet is because they were so impressed with the quality of their imaging. I'm a worrier who possibly cares a little too much about my dogs. Some might even call me annoying. But I never feel like a problem when I'm there, all of my concerns are always addressed quickly, my questions are always answered quickly and thoroughly, and there's no one I trust more than Summit Animal Hospital. We were very disappointed with Summit Animal Hospital. After trying for days to get our sick dog in, we were offered a 3:00 p.m. opening at 2:30 p.m. My wife warned she might be late as we were arriving home at 2:55 p.m. from a funeral; the staff assured us there was a 15‑minute grace period. We arrived at 3:18 p.m., but the staff refused to see our dog. The staff's tone felt uncaring, and the manager (Jessica) was unavailable when I asked to speak with her. Our original appointment for 9:00 a.m. the next day had been canceled by the staff, but fortunately we were able to get it back. I'm sharing this so others know about their late-arrival policy and how it's applied. read more

It took them nearly a month to just be told information I already knew. The manger Jennifer was very unprofessional the way she talked to me. I was threatened to have the police called on me when I told her that I was going through a rough time mentally not being able to see my dogs due to my girlfriend and I splitting up. My ex had my name removed from ny dogs file and I was not notified nor given a reason why this happened. I asked that I would like to speak to her in person to explain about my situation in person and was told that I can speak to their legal team and if I showed up she would call the police. All I wanted to understand why my name was removed and why it was removed without notifying me. I had been with Summit since 2014 when I first moved to Camas. Dr. Tyler Vance was extremely compassionate with our previous dog when she was dying of cancer. Unfortunately I didn't see much of Dr. Tyler Vance; I would get his wife or someone else in the practice. In 2016 we got a new dog and continued with Summit. This past summer, my elderly mother moved locally to a senior home and brought her cat; so of course we brought the cat to Summit. Last week I had an appointment for both the dog and the cat. I had the dog appointment time wrong and missed it but still got the cat in for her blood draw. Apparently sometime in the last 11 years that I have been going to Summit I missed another appointment so this was my second missed appointment in 11 years with 3 animals. This is a snip the letter I received: "At this time, there have been one or more no-show appointments from your account. For future appointments, we will require nonrefundable prepayment for exam fees as well as the treatment cost of scheduled technician appointments." Needless to say I have found a new vet. Camas Washougal Animal hospital was able to get me in right away, did not ask an excessive amount of intake questions and does not require a separate drop for blood work if a teeth cleaning is scheduled. I probably would have been OK with a 75.00 cancellation fee from Summit; but they pushed too far for me. There have been MANY times that I was put on hold for several minutes and then asked a barrage of 20 questions which took much of my lunch break. Clearly Summit only is interested in generating income for themselves and are completely insensitive to understand that their customers also have busy lives and that their time is also important to them as well. I love love love Summit. Dr. Katie and Dr. Tyler are very skilled and thoughtful vets. They are compassionate and always give lots of options. I feel empowered to make the right decisions for my pet's health with their guidance. There's been many occasions where they could have upsold me or pressured me into more and tests as I have one veryyyyy old dog Zelda and one kinda old neurotic dog Argo, but they never have. When I first brought Zelda to Dr. Tyler Vance it was during COVID and she was having heart problems and I thought I was going to need to put her down. Dr. Vance fine tuned her medications (she's on like 6) but once we got her pain and fluid balance issues dialed in my dog is doing really great and she's 17. I got several more great years with my dog due to this clinic. The vets always answer all my questions and are very through. Now onto the other great part, the office staff here is wonderful! I've never had a vet before with great office staff AND great doctors. This is very hard to find. You can text message or email in medication refill requests and they will text you back to let you know it's ready! How easy and wonderful is that?! One time Zelda had a suspected UTI and I think it was Kelsey who walked up and down the street with us and Zelda and managed to catch her urine in a little tray when she squatted. I felt that was above and beyond. That's the level of dedication the staff has. Lastly, and what prompted me to make sure I wrote another review for this place is we went on a family vacation recently and had to bring our dogs with us last minute. We brought some dog antianxiety medicine but not nearly enough. When we got to the vacation house Argo wouldn't stop howling and panting and it was a nightmare. Took my cats here for the first time. Cat 1 has trouble with vets, cat 2 does not. They both had a tough time, which was the first time that both have been that upset, which I don't blame the vet for. That's just bad luck. She was able to do one exam on cat 1 (almost all of it) as much as allowed, and for cat 2, she looked in the eyes from a distance and tried to not get close. Seemed like pretty low effort but not unreasonable. I will say that for the cat that typically will try to swat at vets, other vets had techs and vets with skills that allowed for some degree of an exam, rather than standing against the wall. I don't have issue with what they were able to do. Main issue was the bill that followed. I believe they should bill for their time to a degree, and that it's not their fault that the cats didn't like it. I take issue with her billing both the same or even close to the same amount, which is a bit dishonest and misrepresenting what occurred. They reduced the price of the limited exam by a trivial amount, but it became clear that this was just a business. Will not be returning, didn't feel like I was really visiting with a vet either. This place has been wonderful every time I bring my dog here. He gets pretty nervous so they're always very reassuring and even nice enough to hold the door open so I can physically carry that 60lb tan sack of scared vizsla in there. I'm really hoping once the mask mandate ends this place allows customers and employees the freedom to do as they chose as well as allow me to walk inside with my dog for appointments and shake the hand of the vet that seems to care so much. We came to Summit Animal Hospital (SAH) at the recommendation of one of our neighbors. With our last dog/family member we went to the local big box pet store/pet clinic. It didn't fit our needs and we searched for a new place for our new pup. SAH is a small group veterinary practice at the top of Prune Hill in Camas next to the Shell station. We saw Dr Vance for our first pup check up. Dr Vance was great answering all of our questions. We had a few questions as it was a few years since our last puppy. She was great examining our pup and agreed to let me post her pic on Yelp. It was a great first visit for our pup and us. We look forward to receiving her ongoing care here. I am so thankful to have found this place with a recommendation from a friend. We had to pandemic bounce around to a few places to get care for awhile and even though it's a bit of a drive for us it's so worth it. Staff actually seems to care, they never act to rushed to answer questions even though I know they're swamped, and it's about half the cost of another vet clinic we tried (E.P.). I never feel pushed into extras (ahem, EP). My pup was spayed here last week and I have never seen such tidy stitching on a spay and I know my girl was well taken care of while there. I can't speak highly enough about Summit! Our poor cat Beastie was having some issues with his teeth and eating. After taking him in for a check-up, we found he had a few teeth that needed to be removed. Because he is an old dude, it was recommended that we also get some blood work done to make sure that was all that was needed. Thankfully, it was. They have a wonderful social distancing set up out front where you roll up and they take your fur baby from you and then deliver him/her back when done. We dropped him off at 7:45 and he was ready to go home at 3 the same day. Reasonably priced and super friendly service. Much appreciated during such a funky time. We have been bringing our pets here for one year since we moved back to the area. I am not pleased with the most recent visit and I can say in the last year throughout all of the visits, just the same. Not sure what the disconnect was this time with a simple check up and updating some vaccines. In the past my dogs have been coming out of these appointments feeling fine and today it's not going well. When I got to the appointment with both of my dogs the office staff seamed confused on which dog gets which vaccine. I walked into the room (this was the first time I actually had a chance to go inside due to Covid and they evenly finally opened back up in person) The tech looked at the computer and there still seemed to be confusion. Then I started feeling uncomfortable with having them there. I let them know... "if your confused on who gets what, their names are on their collars" I sat in the room while they took both dogs to the back. I heard yelping and was not concerned at first because I know my female fog can be a little dramatic with nail trims. I then heard a loud thud and then it was quiet. They brought my male dog back and said, "all done". They had a concerned look on their face when they came back into the room. They talked about almost being done with the other dog and I said it can be challenging getting her nails done at times. They brought her back into the room then and said, "All done! We are going to charge your card on file. It's $350." I agreed because I am familiar with what the vaccines prices were, so price was not an issue. This is the part that does not sit well with me. My dog is not feeling well. It has been 24 hours later and he is not himself. He is sighing and is clearly not feeling well. I am not outraged yet, because he is still eating and not lethargic. But he is in pain! What makes me so angry is they didn't not go over with me what actually happened in the back when they were giving the vaccines, they did not go over side effects, and they didn't do a follow up call. It was like here you go, we will charge your card and send you the receipt. My question is.. what the hell happened in the back and did they give the correct dogs the correct vaccines. I called and let them a message with my concerns. I will not expect a call back today because it is Sunday. I can only hope I get a call from them tomorrow. I am happy I may not have to go back there. We are moving again and I know there are other vets that are more caring and organized than this one. I can safely say we will not have to go back there because we move in 2 months and good luck even getting an appointment in that time frame. Just to get them in for this one was 3-4 weeks! With this experience if they did something that is going to need further follow up from the vaccines ghat they gave my dog, I'm sure they will not care and just have me go to the emergency vet. So I go to get amoxicillin for our dog. They are handing me the 2 weeks supply and mention they are going to charge the card on file $92 for it. I'm in healthcare. It's a $12 item at most. I decline. Both veterinarians are knowledgeable, professional, have common sense when treating animals and give several treatment options. We have had some medical needs dogs, an acutely ill dog with a rare pathology, routine care requirements etc. All handled above and beyond my expectations and I'm tough. I'm in human medicine. I live close by and thought I would try them based on positive views and I am so glad I did! Initially I saw Dr. Jeff Frey to update my sheltie's vaccinations and he was so kind, professional, and patiently answered all my questions and concerns. Then my dog, Kaia, got sick and I went in on Christmas Eve and saw Dr. Tyler Vance. He was just as kind and professional and the information he provided was not only helpful, but I also felt as if he spoke with me on a level commensurate with my own knowledge. Dr. Vance provided me with antibiotics, probiotics, and everything I needed for Kaia for the long weekend, including information for any emergency care. The front staff ensured I had all the correct items and I left feeling fully supplied and ready for any contingencies. Later that same day, I could see some improvement in Kaia and by Christmas I knew she was feeling better! No one likes to see their pet get sick and the doctors and staff at Summit Animal Hospital really are courteous and caring. Husband and wife team Dr's Kathryn Vance and Tyler Vance and their entire staff provide excellent care beyond what I have ever experienced with other pets at other vets over many years. They truly love animals and it shows in everything they do. My best friend of 11 years was terminal and beginning to suffer. I never thought I'd be writing a Yelp review giving five stars for the hardest experience a pet owner can go through. Dr Tyler Vance's compassion, understanding and love made the inevitable last visit one of comfort for our dog and also for us. The great respect, integrity, love and understanding for my family and our sweet wonderful dog was beyond what words can explain. I started taking my dog Charlie to Summit after terrible experiences with Orchard Hills and Banfield. I'd tend to agree that they recommend a lot of extra tests, but lets get serious... They don't recommend any more than a human doc would for kid (if I had one). Amy is always up front about the tests and presents an estimate before doing anything. She never pushes me to do any test I don't think is necessary. And, often enough she has talked me out of extra tests. I have Trupanion (definitely recommend them!) pet insurance for my boy, so I'm pretty quick to ask for a full battery. I love taking Charlie to Summit. He loves going there. And all the ladies are so happy when he comes in. I would highly recommend Summit to anyone that loves their animals like I do. If you just want to keep a yard mutt half alive then maybe Orchard hills would be better suited for your needs. Keep up the great work Dr. Twardzik!! read more

I love Summit Animal Hospital. They treat me with respect, and take very good care of my dog and cats. They do recommend more frequent lab tests and such than I care to do, but it's always my choice to say no (and I often have). However, they have always explained to me why they were recommended. I have never felt that anyone there was operating from a sense of greed. My dog has trouble getting in/out of our car now, and Dr Frey even came outside to give her a needed vaccination. I really appreciated that. They have excellent follow up and have worked well with the other specialty clinic we had to visit for my dogs neurological problems. Very friendly, patient, knowledgeable staff, with competative prices. Received great advice for my cat who has a chronic condition. We just moved to the area and I am very happy that we won't have to shop around for the right vet. This is the place for our pets!
