Unfortunately, I received a message from MADISON this morning stating that we have one strike against us because we called in to cancel an appointment when their business was closed. Our appointment line landed on a Monday and this is after the New Year's holiday and most places are closed. We tried to explain that my son has traumatic brain injury, and I was not feeling very well, but she was very unsympathetic and let us know that it's still one strike , and the next one we will have to pay for the visit in full, and then the third strike would be not being able to come to this veterinary clinic anymore for care I understand many establishments having policies for cancellation, and if I knew that they had one, I would definitely followed the rules. I was never told that we would have a strike against us. and I was also not told that you have three times before you're not able to come to this veterinary clinic anymore. I find it quite disappointing that a receptionist can arbitrarily make a decision for a family that has gone to this clinic that we have been going to longer than she's worked there. We personally know Dr. Polly and we were close to Dr. Garfield. That's the relationship that you have with people that stay loyal to you. You don't be rude to them and uncaring. I have always loved going to salmon Creek Vet, but this definitely has changed my mind and my opinion when people ask me where they should go. If there are policies, then you need to explain them to the customers before hand, not after. And this is not our first interaction with Madison. She has been rude before, and we just kindly smiled paid for what we needed to do and left. We thought that she was having a bad day, but it's obvious that not the case.

When it came time to say goodbye to our GSD due to an aggressive liver cancer, Heather communicated with me via text on a Friday afternoon to get Loki seen at an urgent care since they were booked. She then continued to touch base throughout the day as we got appointments set, records forwarded to the other clinic and then fit us in with a last minute Saturday appointment so he could cross the rainbow bridge and shed his pain. The texts were beyond appreciated as I could barely speak without bawling. Dr Primley was also compassionate and comforting as we said goodbye to our gentle giant Saturday afternoon and I cannot thank them enough for the kindness and care they showed us during that difficult time. I highly recommend them to anyone needing care for their fur babies.

A Rollercoaster Experience at Hearthwood Veterinary Hospital: Good to BAD to LOL…read more Strap in, folks, because this ride at Hearthwood Veterinary Hospital is all about highs and lows, with a heavy dose of mystery. My debut was good Dr. Dena Baumgartner, (picture shown on their website below), savvy vet tech (picture not shown), and the vibe that my furball and my wallet were in good hands. But hold onto your hats, because round two veers into the twilight zone. The plot thickens with their photo policy - so cloaked in mystery it could star in its own detective novel. I wanted to document my pet's first happy vet visit. If Hearthwood was a book, it'd be titled 'Why We Hide.' Auditing seems overdue, doesn't it? Then there's the 'VIP (Very Isolated Pets)' treatment - pets and owners parting ways for procedures, waving more red flags than a matador. Me and my sidekick? We don't play that game. We took our paws elsewhere after a peek behind the curtain revealed too many unanswered questions. They wanted to separate me from my pet for a simple booster shot. I thought that was odd since we were already in a private room and they were holding the shot in their hand. Wouldn't you think that was odd? Don't even get me started on time - or the lack thereof. This tech (see picture below) is 45 minutes late for the appointment. As you can see, she is less 'fashionably late.' It's not just about the wait; it's the principle. Most people count that as a "no show" at 20 minutes? Where do you draw the line? 15, 30 min? If it was the other way around they would easily charge me a "no show" fee. They also charged me wellness exam fee of some $60 which I did not authorize nor was I advised that a exam was being conducted. Bottom line: If you're shopping for a vet where secrets don't shadow simple check-ups and respect for your time is a given, let my story be your compass. It's time to vote with our feet, because the path to change is paved with our choices. In America, we vote with our dollar. And people like this business need to respect that. Personally, I would caution people from going to a business where the business manager spend his Sunday night looking up information on past patients (which I'm assuming happened because he was able to state a specific date) just to combat a bad review. TLDR: This used to be a wonderful place under Dr. Burton, but the new owners have ruined the good reputation and good will. Staff have been known to argue with people on their reviews so I'm sure a response defending themselves will be left on this one This was the best place when Dr. Burton ran it. Unfortunately, since it has been sold the experience has plummeted. Most of the staff was let go (though the new staff and owners will say they left voluntarily) and the consideration and willingness to work with patients has disappeared. What was previously a run in back with Dr. Burton for some blood tests and ended up being over $500 with no warning with the new owners. When I expressed confusion and concern that I had a massive bill that I had not been told about before the blood draw I was treated like I didn't know what I was talking about and quite literally had the card reader pushed towards me. When I asked if I could do a payment plan as I've done in the past with Dr. Burton as I had bills coming up and was not planning on spending over $500 I was told that that was no longer something that was offered and that I needed to pay right then and there. This on top of the fact that when the new owners took over there were days where the office was closed but there was no information about that put online nor was the voicemail updated. So anyone showing up for appointments that day were met with a paper on the front door saying they were closed and when I asked about it at a later time I was told the vet's son was moving into college and that it couldn't be helped. Again I was treated as if my questioning of why there had been no notice online was ridiculous and rude. If you are thinking of coming here because you've heard good things, I would highly recommend looking into some other locations. They offered to reschedule us or I could wait in the lobby while they did their exams in the back since "our" exam room was needed. I opted to stay and wait. The dr herself and all of the staff apologized to me profusely for the disruptions even though they really didn't need to. These things happen and I never would have known there was a crisis if no one told me. It was that well handled. They also offered a discount on our visit because of it, which again was above and beyond. The care plan for my dog is reasonable and was well explained to me. I was also given alternatives if I did not agree. Very happy this is the vet closest to my house.

Everyone from the receptionists to the technicians to the doctors have been absolutely wonderful. Last week our dog had surgery and everyone was absolutely great. She communicated with us following the procedure letting us know how things went and Hope was great with the after care information. We had plenty of time to ask questions and at no time did I feel rushed. Gretta most of all is my barometer. She was actually calmer then usual in this type situation which was extremely nice. When it came time for her shots they usually take animals out of the room, I prefer to stay with her and they were very understanding. The vet made suggestions for on going care, never tried to sell me dog food or anything else. I felt like there was genuine care towards Gretta's comfort level and respect for her age. Note: We are fortunate to have a healthy dog that is in excellent shape ( eg. not overweight no hip or skin issues etc) I like I could trust what was suggested and that Gretta was the priority not up selling of services, very nice! While veterinary care may seem expensive, when compared to human health care, it is a bargain.
