Although you may find old reviews that are quite negative, the company apparently has worked hard to build the company with strong quality and customer service aspects. We hired them, on recommendation of a friend who had a large restoration job done by them, and found them to be on time, capable of working well with our insurance company, providing excellent communication among themselves and with us as the customers, and using excellent workmen throughout the project. They worked with the flooring store I found tile at, found a way to get an old style of crown molding fabricated so it would match, and worked hard to meet my timeline which included having extra family moving in temporarily within about 6 weeks of the water damage. Almost one year ago, we discovered a refrigerator leak in our home and contacted Summit. They did the mold remediation and removal of damaged materials and we also hired them to do a portion of the restoration (mainly floors and trim.) Pros: * Everyone who worked in our home was very nice. We have kids and a dog and a hectic life, they were all kind and I never felt uncomfortable having these strangers in my home. * The estimator/project manager was up front about their 20% surcharge and advised on how/where we could source portions of the project on our own and at a lower cost than going through Summit (we are quite happy with all of the vendors he recommended.) Cons: * They did not complete their portion of our project. * They ghosted us for six months. Reached out to say our file had been lost, sorry 'bout that, please pay. Oh, yeah, the things that aren't done? Uhh, we can't find the materials. How about a small discount? * Upon asking for the situation to be escalated in order to reach an acceptable agreement, it took an additional three months for the next level of supervision to contact us. *** The Regional Operations Manager did offer us a reasonable monetary credit on our bill, which we accepted and paid immediately. However, at no time did anyone actually apologize for the subpar work or the way our situation was handled, which leads me to believe that it is acceptable to them. Also, the credit was offered for "the items you feel are unsatisfactory" not the items that are satisfactory.. which, again, leads me to believe that it is acceptable. You guys ripped up way more vinyl than you needed to and one of your restoration techs sat in his van for 2 hours after putting a drywall patch on our wall, obviously slacking off. Left 5 dehumidifiers running and ripped up my vinyl in my bathroom just because there was water on the ground in the laundry room, and our hallway. Water didn't even go into the hallway. read more

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. They sent us a price list that was completely bait and switch. We started giving them jobs shortly after adding them to our vendor list, and spiff cleans were turning into $400-500 jobs. Not at ALL what they quoted on their price list. They communicated so poorly. About scheduling, completion, and also pricing. They would reply and say their workers completed jobs - even referencing their employee by name. We go to look and it was never done! It's awesome to discover this at an open house when they claimed to have done it over a week prior. They sent someone to bring us coffee and cinnamon bread, apparently with the intention of ending our business relationship, but they didn't have the balls to do it. So they had scheduled a bunch of jobs already, and after they left us our "goodies" we went to send them another job, and the conversation went south. "I thought he told you..." Told us what? Oh, no. He didn't tell us that you were essentially breaking up with us without having an adult conversation, and were canceling jobs we ordered. No one in their right mind is ever going to pay you $400 for a two hour spiff cleaning. No one expects to pay $45 for a burger that was supposed to be $8 either. Especially when the burger isn't as tasty as it sounded on the menu. Just saying. read more

Summit did a great job for us. We have a company with over 35 employees. A few caught Covid-19. I called Summit to have our store completely sanitized. I first left a phone message, with a larger, nationwide company. Waited several hours for a call back. Then called Summit, someone actually answered the phone, transferred me to someone else. I explained our situation. He gave me some options, I picked one. He said "I'll contact our scheduler, then call you back ". Got a call back, seems within an hour. He said " we can be there at 7 tonight , to sanitize your whole store. " I was shocked, the bigger company, hadn't even called back yet. When a car missed a driveway and crashed through the front of my close friend's office building, I immediately recommended Summit Cleaning & Restoration. He already had a bid from another restoration company, but after meeting with Summit he promptly signed the work order. This was a custom job, and finding matching materials was going to be a bear. Not for Summit Cleaning. The end results were stunning, and at a much more reasonable cost than other contractors in the Salem area. I would recommend them again without hesitation. read more

Very fast response to my request for an estimate to have all the carpets in our home cleaned. Jason was very informative explaining the process and what items we could leave in place. Delay after delay, on three different occasions they came in and left us without water in the kitchen over the weekend. SUPER unhappy start to finish. Electrician climbed under our house, screwed up our electric box so it had to be replaced (we had no heat over Christmas) fell on our sewer line under the house, snapped in half and didn't tell anyone. When we called to have it fixed, we were told it would be faster if we called someone else. Job started June 14th, it's May 25th and it still isn't handled. Our liaison quit halfway through the job, we didn't blame him, he was managing 54 jobs at the time. At one point they came through and laid down the bathroom vinyl wrong, didn't empty the toilet and we came home to a puddle on the new plank flooring. DO NOT USE this company. The craftspeople were adequate, but what the project manager told me initially was a small job, took 3 months! They never arrived before 9:30-10:00 when they came. When I asked after two months, why it was taking so long to replace 4 feet of carpet pad, I was told they were not going to buy a whole roll just for my small length that was needed. I was repeatedly asked if I had leftover matching paint for areas that needed touch up. I was blatantly lied to by a flooring subcontractor they had hired and was not advocated for by the project manager. I have shared all of this, and more, with my insurance company. read more

My pellet stove caught on fire and filled the house with smoke and destroyed the stove. Blessedly my cats and house were spared damage (aside from the smoke of course). Never had any experience with this before and thankfully my agent suggested Summit. What an incredible group of people. I will start with Jake (supervisor) who was available to any of my questions or concerns, explained everything very carefully. Not one call was missed or returned in a less than very timely manner he spent time and worked very hard to get everything lined up very quickly for my cleanup. He set the tone for the crew that worked with him. By name, Madeline, Liz, Josh, Brad, Steve and Mary Lou, were exceptional. They were so pleasant, kind, patient, efficient, careful with all items, quick to check on how I wanted something handled and a joy to have around while doing all this cleanup for me. I would like to pick a special person out of the group but each were special in their own way. I cannot say enough good things about them. They all worked so hard but at the same time thoroughly. Unbelievably bad experience - stay clear! We engaged Summit to restore damage caused by water leaks after the winter thaw. After they tore down the walls and dried everything, they sent us a note claiming they were too busy to finish the job, that it would be 3-6 months before they could put everything back together. We had cabinets lying on the floor, dry goods, utensils and cookware in boxes, and a sleep number bed completely disassembled. This vacation home was totally unusable. We were forced to find another contractor to complete the drywall, paint, trim and cabinet hanging. Not easy finding a contractor in this economy. We easily lost 6 weeks of use and rental opportunities. Nothing but a 'sorry' from this outfit. read more

I had a genuinely horrible experience with this company! this was a very large job, and at first they were attentive and great at getting back to me and then that all came to an end. They were not looking out for my best interests and attempted to cut monetary corners by trying to have cheap lookalike hardwood flooring installed rather than the high grade wood flooring that was in there prior to the restoration. they grossly underbid the job, left my house torn apart for months with no restoration done at all! and then sent me an email telling me they would not be able to complete the restoration, attached was a bill for 6,000$ for tearing my house apart and fixing ZERO. I do not recommend them to even a person I despise. I would Trust them to clean my carpet and that's about it. read more

Duplicate listings for the same business. Company motto is "appologize later". Sub contractors they hire are questionable. The plumbers broke pipes, other workers overloaded then blew up circuit breaker, tracked mud in house, let pets out, etc, etc. There isn't enough room to describe all that has gone wrong. read more

Quoted two weeks for restoration and repair, but it took eight weeks. They only work two days a week, show up late in the morning, two hour lunches and leave the job early afternoon. The only reason the work was completed because I had to contract out. They do really poor work. read more

My wife and I had the misfortune to have a supply line to the kitchen faucet burst in the middle of the night and flood our house. My boss had a similar experience a few months earlier when the water heater in her manufactured home sprung a leak and flooded her home. She had Summit do the repair work and had nothing but good things to say about them, so I gave them a call. Brandon and his crew were great ! He worked with our insurance company every step of the way to make sure things were done right, and there was no cutting corners. We got consistent updates by phone or in person, and he went out of his way to make sure the work of the subcontractors was to our liking. Great job by a great company. We just bought a house for which the sellers hired this company to remediate some mold & mildew issues in the crawl space. The first time they came out they only remediated a portion of one beam that the inspector saw mold/mildew on. The inspector ended up coming back three times until he was satisfied with the remediation work. He took pictures to show us several beams that had obvious mold & mildew on them and the company had to come back a third time. This company may be okay for carpet cleaning but NOT for mold & mildew remediation, DO NOT USE THEM! read more

We needed someone to come to our house to check out some water damage from a leaking pipe in the wall of our utility room. The people who came out were very professional and courteous. That is the only good thing I can say. They continuously put us off saying how busy they are. When they found out that I planned on doing the build back, the mood definitely changed. Toward the end, they sent us an invoice. I e-mailed them and asked if the invoice included them coming back to re-install some insulation under the floor. I was told to e-mail someone else from the company. I did that but never heard back. I then e-mailed the person again and she said she would get back to me. After two to three weeks, I finally went down to their office and paid the bill. I told them I was tired of waiting and that I was done with them. We hired them because we like to stay local. I would never use them again. I have never seen anyone drag out a job like they do. read more
