We moved to Trilogy a little over three years ago but up until this year, kept our regular dentist in Cornelius after something like 15 years. Originally it was not a big deal to drive over there but the last two times I went, it took over an hour to go 8.1 miles due to traffic. In one case, I had to reschedule before I was over 15 minutes late even though I had called to let them know. Was able to reschedule and got in the same day. I've been a patient since sometime this summer. My wife found this practice and moved over sometime around the first of the year. Reason she moved is that we are both Seniors and have Medicare Advantage Plans with Dental Benefits. For some reason, we could never get them to bill our Insurance Company. Granted the coverage was not that much but a couple of thousand is a couple of thousand that does not come out of my pocket. Her Dentist is Dr. Allison Kelleher and she loves her and the great service she gets. I have Dr. Andy Pernell and he was the founder of this Service. When I came over, I already knew that I had some major issues related to resorption of tissue under the gums. On the initial examination, Dr. Pernell also that I had a cavity under a bridge under my upper molars. Made an appointment and came back and the bridge was removed, the cavity was filled, and a temporary bridge installed. Went back last week and got the permanent bridge installed. This was the first cavity I've had in over 10 years. I have an appointment in January to address the resorbtion issues on the lower molars. That said he referred me to Dr. Getz at North State Perio and he has examined me and we are schedules for planning and deep cleaning in December. read more

Amazing staff- great experience. I'm new to the area & went in for a cleaning. While there the dentist identified a small crack which required a crown. We also talked about my night grinding & an in office retainer was built. I had the crown done & I am so thrilled with the easy painless process. This is such a stark difference from the dentist I saw in Maryland. I had never had real dental work done before and at my prior dentist they identified I needed a crown. It was such a traumatizing experience that I was terrified when Summit advised I needed another one done. I also was given a plastic mold at the prior dentist that I had to put in hot water and try to fit myself - It never worked and it made me gag so I just stopped using it. Such a drastic difference between these offices- thank you Summit. My dentist fears are now gone. read more

My husband and I visited Summit Dentistry in Denver, North Carolina, on three separate occasions. During our initial visit, the dentist provided a list of issues with my husband's teeth and presented an estimate for the necessary procedures. We decided against proceeding at that time. On our third visit, the dentist reviewed my X-rays and briefly examined my mouth, informing me that I required approximately $3,000 worth of dental work. My husband was present at the reception desk, holding a list of recommended treatments valued at $3,000 on his hand. From the outset, he was not particularly comfortable with this practice. At the conclusion of that visit, I had discomfort after I was advised that I needed a root canal was also told I had a cavity. They attempted to schedule these procedures, but we expressed the need to consider our options further. Fortunately, we chose to seek a second opinion from another dental provider. It later emerged that there was no substantive issue with my oral health. I was deeply disappointed by this experience, especially since no teeth cleaning was not during any of the visit. Initially, I was told I was doing an excellent job maintaining my oral health, yet suddenly I was informed of two significant dental problems. This inconsistency was concerning, and I have decided not to return to this organization. As former President George H. W. Bush remarked regarding Bill Clinton, "Watch your wallet." I strongly advise others to be cautious and consider alternative providers. This experience felt deceptive and unprofessional. read more

I had two dental insurance policies, and Summit will only submit a claim to my primary insurance. I was responsible for waiting to see what my primary would cover, and then put in a claim to my secondary. My wife's last visit involved getting a crown, and we had to pay a portion up front (so called Moolah charge) even before the dentist submitted the claim to our primary. We had already paid more than what the insurance company showed we owed, but the next to last statement received from Summit showed that we still owed hundreds of dollars. Apparently we were billed for the full amount of the procedure, rather than the amount contracted with the insurance company. This was eventually resolved, but we had to point out the error to the office for this to happen. I switched to another dentist who submits claims to both of my insurance companies. Their office made the entire process anxiety-free. For my crowns, I only had to pay a deductible and not a penny more until both claims were processed. I have dealt with dental specialists who handled multiple insurers the same way: they submit a claim to my primary, wait for the claim to be processed, and then put in a claim to my secondary for the balance, with no involvement on my part. Can't understand why Summit won't do the same! read more

Dr. Pernell was able to align my older fillings that were causing pain as well as add new fillings that feel great! I had a crown placed a week ago and I can now chew on both sides of my mouth which I haven't been able to do for some reason or another for a long time.
