I recently had a brokerage boat under contract here that I found on YachtWorld. I paid for an engine survey, and a hull survey. I obtained financing and insurance and when it came time to close on the deal, Sun Country could not produce a clear title to the vessel. I extended the contract several times to give them more time to obtain a transferrable title, which they could not. After the contract expired, I asked for the survey monies back, as they could not fulfill their end of the contract, and I was basically told it wasn't their problem. I would recommend staying away from ANY firm that would treat a buyer in this manner. read more

We took our Chaparral boat to them to sale on consignment. We took it out right before and it ran perfectly. It was there over a month and during that time we called several times and left several messages. They put 1 exterior picture if it for the ad. No reply. Never a return call to let us know how things were going. . . We picked it up and took it elsewhere. When it was opened up it was filthy. The batteries were near dead and they had turned it on which burned up the impeller. After it was cleaned and fixed it sold in 1 day. Worst place to consign a boat!! Don't take it there. read more

I love this place. After looking at two boats for sale through private parties, we became uncomfortable with the sellers. We then went to Sun Country and got a great deal on a 2007 24' Four Winns. They even detailed it and went through the mechanical components in their shop. Very professional! Didn't even have to haggle. Took all of about 30 minutes to do the deal. Picked the boat up a couple days later. They got it all cleaned up and ready for the lake. I was looking for the right pontoon boat for a long time. I found exactly what I wanted at Sun Country Marine. It was a consignment boat, but was priced fairly and the help I received from Diane at Sun Country Marine was both professional and wonderfully cooperative. I was a little under the weather, and had recent shoulder surgery, when I first visited Sun Country Marine They were very understanding going out of their way to make sure that mobile stairs were at each boat that I wanted to examine. Typical "Bait & Switch" service shop... I took my Boat there from the quote I received on the phone. But, when I got there I was told the quote was only for 1/3 of the job that was discussed on the phone... Really! Boats are not like pulling in with your car, it takes a bit more to move them around. I think SCM knows this quite well, and plays this card. Hook em on the phone with a decent price, reel em into the shop with the boat in tow, then lay the real price on them... You already hauled your Boat all the way there at that point, so they think you'll pay their inflated price. Very Sad way of doing Business, never again will I step foot in this place! This place is despicable, me and my grandfather were moving some cars to his body shop and in doing so one of the cars broke down in the middle of the road, mind you it was the car my grandfather was driving, after it had broken down we made an attempt to move it out of the road, so we tried to push it into the sun country marine lot and the property manager said no, my grandfather is 70 years old and they denied his request to leave the car in the lot for 10 or 15 minutes while we waited for a tow, so we were forced to push the car much much farther into a different lot and wait for the tow, my grandfather had done business with these people for many many years but after today he will never do business with them again. read more

We have, or should I say "were" a loyal customer! We dropped our boat off for our annual service and our boat and 3 others were broken into. I had over $1900 in stereo equipment stolen from my boat alone. How did they respond and take responsibility? With a simple response "too bad & so sad" but all boats are individually insured and they will not accept any responsibility. This is how they treat a loyal customer for many years, unfortunately I will no longer be a customer & will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

WE Recently moved to Arizona from Washington we have a brand new regal with 40 hours on it decided to take it in to get it checked out before we take it on the lake told we need a new impeller my husband said well OK . $368.00. We pick the boat up a week later took it out on the lake within 10 minutes it overheated took it back to the marina. Told them the problem they said oh drop the boat and we will back it in and look at it . So actually they put in a new impeller you be the judge I wouldn't even give them one star they ruined our whole day they are rude they didn't even tell us what they were doing never ever go there. They should be reported to the Better Business Bureau in my opinion but how can you prove anything read more

I purchased my new Chaparral 19 H2O here a month ago. They made me feel important from day 1 . They always gave me updates on my order status . Chaparral even called me directly once on my order status . I even had a problem with my truck and they spent an hour of their free time helping me fix it. If you are looking for a repair shop for your boat. LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!! The Lake Pleasant storm hit Phoenix on 7/14/2017 and my husband got stuck in the storm and actually had photos posted on New Channel 3 with damage and the chaos. We called our insurance company and looked at various locations. My husband delivered the boat to Sun Country Marin on 7/18/2017 and he was told that they do all of the work onsite and that the estimate would be done in a few days.....................We called several times and were treated very poorly. The insurance company called and same thing, weeks pass and nothing. We called again this week and same treatment. Finally the insurance called and they sent over an estimate listing the parts that needed to be replaced with NO prices. Who does that, how can anyone determine the total cost if there are no prices. So I called and spoke to Dale and he proceeds to tell me that the insurance company asked for the list and no prices, no way, I have dealt with various insurance companies and none of them request a quote with no amounts. I asked him at that time if the boat was under covered parking or if it was exposed to the elements. Dale said its outside, we dont have covered parking... WTF our boat had not been exposed to the elements it had a cover until the storm. So now not only is the boat out side its not covered and the interior is being eaten up by our Arizona sun. Not on our watch I told Dale that I was not happy about that and he really did not care and told me that he would speak to his partner to find out what was going on with the insurance. I never got a call back so my husband decided to go and pick up the boat. He walked in and told the same nasty receptionist that he was done with them being nasty and not working on the boat. He left with it and not even 30 after he picked up the boat the lady from there called out insurance company to tell them that we picked up the boat, I really have no idea why she would have done that, hello crappy service and no action on the estimate = we take our property to a different shop that wont feed you a line of BS and crap and that treats you like a customer. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS AND THEY DONT CARE. read more

Needed to sell boat and didn't want the hassle of selling myself. Took it to Sun Country Marine and met with Diane. She was helpful in determining the value, which was twice what I had estimated. I feared August might be late in the season to sell and expected it would be on the market a lengthy amount of time, but agreed to have them consign for me. Their fee was a reasonable flat percentage, with no hidden storage fees like others try to add. ONLY 9 days later, the boat sold for only 1K below listing price. I purchased my Chaparral Signature 276 from Sun Country in 2006. They have always treated me very well and I trust them taking care of my boat. I read previous reviews, most of the negatives are complaining about money. Boating is an expensive hobby; be prepared for hi maintenance and repairs expenses. If you cannot afford it, rent or don't go boating at all. I lived in Florida for 2 years, with my boat, and experienced other marinas and boat mechanics; Sun Country by far has been the best and the most reasonable in repair times and fees. I trust them and highly recommend Sun Country! read more

I've bought parts there a time or two ,each time I had to take a mortgage out on the house. The only employee I really have ever dealt with is Dale. Dale's a good ole boy, if his hands ever got dirty it had to be from the money he was counting or because he tripped and accidently fell down. Dale is one of those smooth cats who slid through life , maybe not on a red carpet, but what ever he used it worked. Dale could give a flying @*&^% less about anything including politics, the economic deficit, unrest in the middle east, the price of tea in China. If the place was mine, after a little attitude change, I would move him to customer service, he presents himself well and you couldn't corner him if you had a bulldozer. Now those of you who hit he lottery I mean , big, Sun Country is where you wanna shop. Five figures gets you about half a new boat. Save up another 5 figure sum and you get the other half, they float so much better when you have both halves. They got things like marine toilet paper for 3.00 a roll, that means you could wipe with a dollar and maybe come out cheaper if you can "fathom" that, for lack of a better marine term. You can go to Lowes and get some pretty good rope off the bulk roll for a dollar something per foot. Heck no.... everyone needs to own a 200 dollar anchor rope, at least once in this short journey we call life, they got one for ya. Your gonna need every bit of your winnings to walk out with anything. Oh and their not bashful over there. Heaven forbid they find out they hold the part you need and there is not another for counties away....hold on to your hat....get a bite stick and grab your ankles cause its coming.. I've been on the phone for anything from boat parts to motorbike parts to airplane parts. After getting an initial price quote many times I have haggled the price down. On the contrary with Sun Country, Dale was checking availability on a gimball bearing, didn't really ask for a price but heard someone in the background say sixty, ok dale thanks talk to ya laters...wait its gonna be 75 bucks...no wait sorry gotta get 85 out of em' and after the smoke cleared he had me up to 95 bucks. Conversation was kinda like a mid day totally conscience nightmare playing in reverse. No shit.....hate to see what it would have been had I asked the price. I bought a 40 foot 396 Carver Aft Cabin from Sun Country brand new, ($249k) plus several other smaller boats thru the years. I have probably spent close to $400K with them between sales and service. Obviously I should have spent my money else where. My boat was damaged in a severe storm at Lake Pleasant in July of 2017 last week . I called them for repairs. They said they would call me back. After several calls and still no response, I drove to their location. They told me that that they had not called me back because they were not interested in doing my work. Dale, the Service manager said that there was plenty of other work for them because of the storm. My guesstimate of the repairs for my vessel would be in the 15K range. A few years back they did a repair for me that was also 15K . They sure have fallen down a long way from their original reputation as the premiere marine sales and service company in Phoenix. read more

I have always had me heart set on a Chaparral boat so when I finally had enough cash together I went down to the dealership. Keep in mind they are the ONLY Chaparral dealership in the state. After dropping what I thought was a great deal of money on a new boat I encountered problem after problem. First, I was told that since it was under warranty they would take care of the Bimini top and non-slip mats. This took 4 months to get them to fix. Second after only being on the lake twice I find out that the motor was missing a part and that the whole rear end of the boat needed to be taken apart and rebuilt, lost 2 months on the water for this one. Third, the trailer tires all blew. I had to replace all 3 trailer tires after only towing the boat about 100 miles. This left scratches on the sides of the boat. I asked them, since they wouldn't take care of the trailer damage or replace my tires would they at least buff out the scuffs? I was told yes, however that never happened, "we're in our busy season" I was told. All and all, I will still buy another Chaparral, however I will be driving to California to pick it up. Jeff is the only one who knows how to speak to customers, however he also knows how to say the right thing and not follow through with what he says. Dale is the parts and service guy and he does not seem to know much about what takes place in the shop. Just ask him what the status of your boat is and watch him say "I don't know". read more
