This place is a pleasant little "foreign" shop in the reisterstown area. It isn't big, but does have a few interesting thing for an American like me, such as Arabic sodas, milka cookies, and some Russian/eastern European ice creams. That said, the selection of the latter is a bit small. It's sorta like a convenience store with more food varieties. If you are able to, I would suggest going to global gourmet by Family Dollar past the former big lots if you're looking for specific food needs. It has double the variety tho I will come here again if I am able to. read more

A good place, and my go-to shop particularly for apples priced much better than the nearby big-box grocery. Also a fascinating selection of international products including breads, preserves, dried pasta, canned vegetables and fish, candies, and interesting refrigerated meats and cheeses. Their packaged foreign snack cakes have led to fun experimenting trying new items. But watch out for the store-packaged Uzbek organic dried apricots. Unlike typical dried apricots, they're much thicker and darker in color and, while very delicious, some have seeds (or portions of pits) that you can't see. Those native to the area from which these come may well know that and know how to eat safely, but to the uninitiated like me a bite into one that chipped a tooth came as a very unpleasant surprise and landed me at the dentist. Sadly, seems the manager failed to accept my attempt at a good-natured suggestion some weeks ago--after a bit of unnecessary wrangling that included being told that apricots don't have pits, that you need to watch what you eat, and that it was my fault (which got me really annoyed and playing the attorney that I am)--to add "caution, contain seeds" to the label. read more

I love this little place. I live in the neighborhood, and it's super convenient to walk to and grab fresh produce I need last minute for dinner (so long as I do it before 7:00 pm or 6:00 on Sunday). Their produce prices are excellent and beat the bigger grocery stores. Besides produce, they have a lot of imported food from Europe, which is kind of pricey, but every once in a while I'll grab myself a treat while I'm there. My only gripe is that they only have full size shopping carts. The space is pretty small with narrow aisles, and if you're only grabbing a few small things it would be much more convenient to navigate with a basket in hand. read more

I have to say that this market is a close second to the one that I frequent in Owings Mills. This is larger and less friendly. It is a cavernous and dark space with tiny aisles and about 20 varieties of apple which takes up quite a bit of space. There are a lot of European items and Russian specialties in this one. Prices are just ok and higher than my OM go to. So I do not come here often but it is around the corner from my home. Not a huge selection of fresh herbs. Rotating sales each week. I noticed that the had crabmeat last week and a dairy/ice cream aisle. Cashiers not too friendly and I was literally hit by 2 cart wielding seniors on my last visit but the aisles are tiny. read more

I just love this place. You get your market cart outside before you enter. Be prepared. The store is small and tight. But, once you get inside you will not be disappointed. Let me tell you that strawberry containers were on sale for $1.79. I'm loving it. Employees have never let me down. I walked out only spending $43.00. I had everything from peaches, nectarines, green grapes, red grapes, two pineapples, cantaloupe, green onions, bananas, eggs, cherries and even green apples. There is a nice selection of reasonably priced produce. They have a large variety of locally grown apples usually starting at .69 lb. I love that they have a shelf and sometimes a cart as well with produce that may be bruised or not as fresh greatly reduced in price. The prices are a bargain. The staff is more business-like than friendly...which I don't mind. I will never shop at this store again. The workers are rude, they stare and don't speak. I'm guessing if my skin wasn't nice and chocolate, it would've been a different story. Today I walked in the store, btw it was my first time there. It was a worker that didn't speak when I entered. I didn't realize she worked there until moments later. I got my lemons and ginger so, I get to the cashier while standing behind someone and the man says " can I help you?" Pikesville, I've foiled your evil plan to keep this place a well kept secret. Finally made my way here last weekend and was pleased with what I found. The stock is plentiful and for the most part everything appears fresh. There were a few side-eyeable sections that needed some refreshing (wrinkly peppers, bags of apples full of bruises) but overall my produce needs were satisfied. The store could use more scales, I was only able to locate two in the entire store so it was a bit of an inconvenience since I wanted to make sure I wasn't spending a fortune. I made out wonderfully on my purchases- six heavy bags of produce for *drumroll please* $29.19. If my wallet is happy, then I'm ecstatic. My sole disappointment was in the lack of identifiable organic products. We all know local doesn't necessarily mean organic and in a produce market that boasts such great prices (which makes me assume that all or some of the produce is local), I wouldn't have had any issue spending more money if Sun Fresh offered organic produce. read more

The produce here is unbelievably priced. For example, Rome apples are usually as low as $.59/lb compared to a regular grocery store's price of $1.69 for a less desirable Red Delicious apples. How is that possible? I have a sinking feeling that their produce isn't necessarily from local farmers, though some items are listed as such. Not that anything is wrong with that, I get that price point wins out more often than not, but I do like to support local businesses when possible. So on occasion, especially during the months when the Farmers' Market under the JFX is going strong, I do feel a twinge of guilt coming here. Also, some of those items that are on a steep discount, really need to be eaten immediately - as in yesterday. Basically, what you really need to know is that the pricing and selection here is pretty impressive. And the carts are really tough to move around insice because the store is packed full of goodies! I do my grocery shopping every other Saturday. I have been living in this area for 7 years & always drove by the place. Wow, I am so mad at myself for never taking the time to go inside & shop. The prices here are better than just about any grocery store out there!!! For $27 & some odd change I got: sweet potatoes brussels sprouts strawberries grapes bananas broccoli cauliflower cilantro Kefir (2 bottles) 18 count large eggs plantains I pay a lot more for my produce at a regular grocery stores. I LOVE shopping here! I've never had a bad experience, the market has fresh produce that always last forever when I purchase them. I usually use the produce within that week and they never go bad or brown. The employees there are helpful and courteous. The parking lot is ALWAYS full! I just hope they don't move out of the area. They use to be on Patterson ave. and moved to the Reisterstown Rd. location. It was needed because they needed the larger space. The prices are reasonable also. read more

Great produce market! A lot of the boxed/canned items are in Russian as many of the patrons are Russian. All produce is fresh and very nicely priced. Sun Fresh produce has the best prices on good produce in Northwest Baltimore, and often better prices than H-Mart in Catonsville. I go almost every week, and often that's my only grocery shopping of the week. Lots of local produce, if you care about that sort of thing, and a wide variety of produce of all kinds: pomegranates, star fruit, berries, kale, leeks, persimmons, lots of different mushrooms. And everything is inexpensive! Plus, every so often, they put a usually expensive item on a super-reduced price, such as raspberries for 79 cents a box. They also have good deals on reduced produce that's in better shape than the stuff already in my fridge that I've not gotten around to using. They also have a wide variety of Russian specialties, chocolate, vegetable spreads like ajvar, etc. read more
