It's always fresh, it's baked to perfection, and it's impossibly hard to walk by once that smell gets you. Did I mention the smell? It's truly fantastic.

It seemed to have been made with some sense of standards, it seemed to have actual discernable meat inside it was tasty and it didn't appear that it might have been sitting there a few days, but instead seemed fresh! It brought back the old sausage roll and tomato sauce memories from my childhood. I might go back for another.

If you can't choose, you could order a sliver of each and call it day. This is the best bit about Kurtosh - everything is sold by weight, and there's no minimum (or maximum) for what you buy. So you can literally order a sliver each of four kinds of cake. Hoorah! Extra bonus: open late so you can pop in for after dinner dessert.

With the US$ having about a 30% stronger buying power, I filled up a couple bags to bring home. Didn't have to worry about breakfast this time. I wouldn't have been surprised to learn that the cheesecake was made out of shop and frozen. The chocolate mouse was fluffy but had some sort of strange plastic aftertaste. I would definitely NOT recommend this place for the quality of their desserts, but if you happen to be in the area and in a cake-related pinch, it will do. They are open super late on weekend nights as well, so that alone is a sizable pro.

I've never been treated so poorly but a cafe or any business. They made me wait, and said they were too busy to deal with my request. I had to articulate (loudly) that I'm waiting on their error. They then blamed me three times for telling them the wrong date and amount and they can't confirm. Once the charge was found they refused to refund the money because they couldn't confirm it was me. The Cafe Manager was rude, defensive and aggressive. I left upset and embarrassed by the whole scenario. They have no email to communicate. I will have to escalate to the Ombudsman, because they've my money and refused to refund. I'm most upset because they've ruined my Saturday mornings where I go to music class with my little girl and we have a babyccino and coffee after.

Up High Street I walked, turning onto Victoria Road, a quick detour down Penshurst and then back up Victoria to continue my way towards the centre of Chatswood. A thriving metropolis and definite pastry seller. Finally, halfway to the station, I found Sweet Delight, a small Vietnamese Bakery, and while the exterior might not scream Boulangerie or Stylish French Patisserie, once inside; the smell of fresh bread climbed my nasal peaks and made the ol' factory feel new again. I ordered a selection of snails, tarts and buns and had them all quartered to better distribute the goods amongst my peers. The price was nice and the pastries nicer, satisfying that strange and lingering urge to eat sweat sugary bread.
