This place is a huge law suit waiting to happen. Please refer to Google reviews to read the many horror stories from this clinic. Place needs to be reported! To all the patients that have had issues I advise you file grievances with your insurance companies! I was supposed to get a procedure done and a denial letter had been sent to Sun Pain Management the 23 or 24th of March. I called the establishment many times of several days to verify that my procedure that I was supposed to be getting in the beginning of April was still happening. I was forced to drive there to get confirmation of the procedure. Thursday around 4:30 I was called and told the insurance had denied my procedure and it was canceled. I was told the denial had been sent to them on Wednesday. When I asked why they'd waited to call me so late in the day to inform me of this, I was given an unacceptable answer. I called the clinic back and in desperation asked how much the procedure would be for me out of pocket. For some context, I was in a bad car accident and many surgeries later, I have been left with severe nerve pain and generalized pain. I am not on any narcotics or opioids. So this procedure was very important to me. I was told I couldn't pay for the procedure due to the type of insurance I have. In the middle of that conversation another lady who claimed to be the office manager, took the phone and said it was 3 mins past closing time and that this was not an issue they could handle and HUNG UP ON ME. I called my insurance the following day which was Friday. I spoke with an agent from my insurance who told me that my insurance had called and left voicemails requesting a peer to peer. They also informed Sun Pain that I needed a more updated MRI of my lumbar. Which I had! All Sun Pain Management needed to do was request the records from the hospital where I've had my many surgeries. All of this would've been avoided if they actually did their job. When my insurance got no call back, no new MRI, and couldn't arrange for a peer to peer they denied the procedure. The letter was sent to them on March 23 or 24. The following Monday I again drove to the clinic. I wanted to see who the rude and heartless individual id been talking to was and report them to someone higher up for their extreme unprofessionalism. Come to find out the lady I spoke to wasn't the office manager. A lady name Angie was. I explained to her everything that had happened and she told me that someone was going to get "written up". I made the remark that they shouldnt have a job for 1. Speaking to a patient that way and 2. For pretending to be the office manager. I explained to her that my pain was unbearable. She got me in to see a provider id never seen before for some sort of injections that did nothing to minimize the pain. If anything I felt more pain with them, then without. When id called the insurance id filed an appeal and a grievance report for how I was treated. I informed Angie of this, and she gave me her personal cell number and told me to go through her for anything. She was diligent and was keeping up with things, and then everything lost momentum again. I had a stroke scare and had more MRIs and CAT scans done so upon discharge, I went to Sun Pain and signed the document that would release the imaging so that they could use them to get my procedure approved. I heard back from the grievance that id filed, and I'm going to be disputing the resolution. I deleted the original review because I got a call from Angie telling me that someone above her had read my review and told her they wouldn't be keeping me on as a patient unless I took it down. Since I thought they were trying to fix the original incident I gave them the benefit of the doubt and removed the review. However, after seeing that my case wasn't going anywhere with them I found another pain management place in a more dignified side of town, and have since discharged myself completely from Sun Pain Management. The biggest thing from this is DONT BE AFRAID TO ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF. I think it was fate because after reading the literal horror stories from other reviews, I'm glad they didn't do my procedures. They could've caused more harm than good. Please be very careful if you decide to start care or remain at this clinic. read more

I had a 9:15 apt on monday. I didn't get in for my back injection until after a 2 hour and 10 min wait. This is ridiculous, there were many going in for procedures that included sedation who got there much after I did, and somehow, I didn't get in for mine. Asked about updates and I was told the first time, 30 min. behind, after and hour, they are behind, 1hour behind, no idea when, after 2 hours, was told that she would check and then said it would be soon. I explained twice that sitting and waiting was increasing my pain levels, do to unpadded chair in the waiting room. They just don't seem to care! I don't know what the issue was, never could get any answer other than they were running behind and training people. I think i will be looking for someone who wants to do more than shots that don't seem to be working well. read more

Worst experience! worst place. It is like a third world clinic. They are much disorganized, people is not friendly. Bathroom inside the clinic is dirty, the surgical area has the wastebaskets full with an ugly (Rap) music very loud. Doctor Angel selected the music, not professional attitud. Unfortunately, I cannot attest to the treatment offered by this business. I was referred by my doctor. I immediately began to call to set an appointment. After four days of courteous, informative telephone messages, I gave up. I requested another referral from my doctor. I understand that businesses are facing certain challenges these days. But you are dealing with people in pain, who might be anxious to proceed with treatments.Four days of unanswered calls is inexcusable. Sun Pain Management was stellar from the start with my pain Management. A must mention is Buelah! What a breath of fresh air she was! She made me feel like a real person with the genuine care she provided at check in. She really set me at ease with not making me feel like just another patient. Her outgoing wanting to help personality was awesome. The injections I received were just what needed to relieve the excruciating pain I was experiencing. Today was my last at that office I've been going there since 2017 pretty long time may say but was not that day this morning I started good I got my ice coffee had my appointment with Mandy went as always as my appointment finished I went to check out and I went to my truck and I noticed I was blocked in and there was no way of me getting out of the parking lot out in to the road I went back to the doctor office I asked the peoples in the waiting area to please to move there vehicles so I can go home no one didn't move so I asked for Angie who is in charge of the the front office and the CEO had attitude with me cause I asked for to tell the patients to move there vehicles so can leave CEO told that she can only move one car and CEO state best she can do that patients can not move there vehicles knowing parking lot ghetto lot as fuck and know it a issue with parking lot from all this and trying to leave and I was done with my appointment and want to go home and have long drive home to south Phoenix I'm not done with sun pain management they are breaking all OSHA read more

I recently missed my appointment(Never missed one prior to this in the years I've been a patient) and they discharged me for that. I don't usually get tested often and was told that I need to do one before my appointment. I forgot where I had done the last one because it had been a few months and called the office MULTIPLE times to inquire about where to go. They finally called me the day before my appointment to of course, collect the copay. I advised the lady that I wasn't able to do the UA as I did not remember where to go. She then advised me that she will let the doctor know and I will get a call back that day. That did not happen. The next day comes and I missed the appointment  because I did not do the UA and was advised that I would not get my prescription if I didn't to the UA. I left work early and drove 20 miles to get there and was 15mins late as there was a car wreck on the route I was taking. I called and was told by the person that answered not to worry and I just come and knock on the door. I pulled up at 15:46 and my appointment was at 15:00. I knocked on the door and no one answered. I then called and spoke with someone who advised me that they will let me in and to wait. That I did...for about 25mins. Someone opened the door to hand a package to a FedEx guy and locked the door even after the FedEx told her I was there  waiting as he also heard me on the phone with the receptionist and she clearly also saw me. I called the office again and waz told to wait as they would let me. No one did. This is now 30mins later. I waited for them to call me back and never received a call. I had to call and was told by Julie's assistant that they were discharging me because I missed the appointment. Now, this person had the worst attitude because I didn't write the names down of the person's I spoke with each time I called. I didn't think I needed to write the names down as I believed these folks knew what they were doing. I have never felt so disrespected and miss treated and Julie's assistant had the nerve the giggle because I said I didn't remember the names of who I spoke with. I have done everything they have asked me to do and never had a dirty/bad UA or missed any appointments without proper notice of not being able to make it. These folks definitely need to be retrained. They are rude, disrespectful and insensitive. The doctor also refused to talk to me(Per her assistant). This add insult to injury, this is 2 days before my refill date. Now, I'll be left without my meds until I can find another pain management. As someone who has worked customer service, your folks need to be retrained on how to deal with people and someone also need to find out WHY calls are not being returned. But anyways, I'll also contact their corporate office to make a formal complaint. read more

If you would like to make an appointment on pain management I suggest you drive to your office and stand in front of them in order to get assistance I've left messages over and over again no one ever calls back I just spent an hour on the phone waiting for someone to help me and got hung up four times then the girl kept saying she couldn't hear me which is very hard to believe since I have a heart of hearing and a heart of seeing phone so that is almost impossible because the phone was actually writing down every single word that was being said the doctors I will say are very good but with this office being so large and them having so many facilities it literally seems like they have one person that answers the phone for all five locations which is a crying shame and unbelievable and inconsiderate of them not to hire enough help if nothing else to have one person to answer the phone or two people just to answer the phone and it would be nice if you ever could get a return phone call back from them again the doctors are great there but their office staff is lacking so much there isn't even a word for what lack of their office staff is no I should say whoever they have in charge of phones should lose their job read more

I attended Sun Pain for about 8 years, I never had a negative experience with them, my Provider Sue, (in rooms 7, 8 and 9) and I always discussed my treatment whatever they prescribed I took, Physical Therapy, Injections and Ablation I did because it was in my best interest and I wanted to get better inspite of my chronic diagnoses. You people are truly awful. A word of advice for future patients: RUN. I went in for a pain block (injection) for my wrist. I thought nothing of the seedy "procedure office" just so I could hurry up and get out of pain. My nurse Craig was very kind and the ONLY reason your "business" even earns one star. I found out the block goes through my NECK about 5 minutes before they put me under. Fortunately I had the option of sedation. When I regained mental capacity a few hours later, I still had pain, and much to my and my referring doctor's surprise, no pain medication at all for after the procedure; not even a sparse amount to last me through the night, especially since something went wrong during the procedure that left me with short-lasting nerve damage in my neck. No one called me to see how I was doing that afternoon. Or ever, for that matter. As it turns out, the meds were not totally effective, and whatever needle they used, hit a nerve near my shoulder area, inhibiting range of movement in my neck and shoulder area. So I went in with one problem, and unfortunately came out with two. As I said, they did not follow up , ana at this point I only wanted to know if this was 'normal', or to be expected. This was a Wednesday. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. I waited a day, nothing improved, so I called and left a message Friday morning. No response - *shocker*. No return call over the weekend. Monday, same thing. No return call. I left messages once a day ad nauseum each day save one, during which I tried to cover all bases by leaving a message each with the medical assistant as well as another with the nurse. All of these messages were polite, yet (silly me!) being under the impression that nerve damage was important and should be addressed ASAP, I was still patient and left my 8th and final message that Monday or Tuesday of the THIRD WEEK IN A ROW. Remember I went from Friday (1st week), on through the 2nd week, stretching into the following 3rd weeks, being Monday/Tuesday. I finally made an appointment with my referring doctor to a) be assigned to anywhere else but there or any place affiliated with it, and b) to please help me with this initial and now secondary pain - because let's face it, they were NOT doing the job they were supposed to be doing, and clearly had no plans to do so, and I was starting to get worried that the nerve damage they caused may be permanent. Not to mention - I was STILL IN PAIN. If their office had somehow gotten confused, it's right there in the title: Sun PAIN MANAGEMENT. I am unclear as to what they thought their actual job was. Unless (unbeknownst to me or anyone else) they'd changed their name to, "Sun Ignore Your Patients and Collect Insurance Money Management". During one of my daily calls with the front office, they informed me that I had ANOTHER appointment (which I did not make - of course that would have required contact with me)! Not just that, but in this order: Sedation, nerve block (because I was willing to subject myself to that again?) and then immediately after, an office visit. I'm no expert, but I don't think that information of any quality can be gotten from a sedated patient. Not to mention, I thought common practice was to ASK the patient BEFORE scheduling an appointment - that way they can let you know if they can make it, have other plans, etc., not to mention will be aware that they HAVE an appointment, since ideally you'd like them to show up - unless you're just planning on billing the insurance company for a 'missed appointment'. My GP ordered my records to see what was going on. Once they received his records request, unsurprisingly, I finally got a call back (thanks for that ultra-high priority, people)!! This was about a week after my initial call.FYI, that means I finally got a call back week FOUR, thanks to doctor intervention. Don't even go here for an ingrown toenail. Sun Pain Management is a joke. They refuse to acknowledge that the new opioid law contains a Grandfather clause that waives the law's mandate when treating chronic pain sufferers (long term opioid users who manage their pain with spe cofic prescribed amounts). They treat chronic pain sufferers as if they were common drug addicts by requiring them to agree to random pee tests for drugs. And they decide to close from December 23rd through January 1st fully knowing that there may be patients who will need prescriptions refilled during that time because their insurance will not allow refills before they are "due." I am now looking for somewhere else to go so thst my 10 years worth of treatment doesn't go toes up! read more

i've not been able to get my pain meds since before August a prescription was called in and because of a shortage the pharmacy did not have what was ordered so Sun Pain Sun Pain Management were sent multiple messages , Sun pain management never would respond to the pharmacy when you call Sun pain management they never answer their phones on any of their extensions. I had an appointment yesterday, the nurse practitioner sent me in another prescription, the pharmacy said they do not have the strength in stock it is on backorder, but had a replacement with the Dr approval, again no answer at Sun Pain Management on any of the extensions and it would take from 24 to 48 hour to return your call after you leave a message and most of the time they never call back . It is really bad because patients are there for Severe pain issues and cannot get the medications needed because some pain management will not respond to pharmacy calls or patient calls! read more

Sun Pain Management is the worst experience I have had with a provider. I was a high dosage opioid therapy patient of long standing, compliant and always willing to work with my providers with Desert Pain. When Sun Pain Management took over I expected little in the way of problems. Unfortunately I was wrong. I saw Mandy first and she was rude, would not answer questions, and let me know that I would be tapered to 90mg morphine equivalent despite my 20 years of compliance. All my concerns and questions were met with disdain. So I switched to Julie and it was even worse. My first appointment with her left me stunned and shaking. First, I heard her phone call to someone about me, then she told me to get with the program or be discharged. So I got with the program, and each appointment was an ordeal, usually including at least one reference to self discharge. I learned to never meet her eyes, speak in a monotone, and not ask any questions. It was a miserable six months. I checked Arizona law and she had no reason to taper my dosage as fast as she did. nor did she need to completely discontinue my long acting medication. One appointment she asked me about recent imaging. When I answered her questions, quietly, politely, and eyes averted; she accused me of being "ugly" with her. I apologized for offending her and brought my husband along to the last two appointments. She was business like in those appointments and ten days after the last appointment I received a discharge letter, citing "failure to establish a therapeutic provider/patient relationship". many patients were discharged from the Desert Pain clientele and at least one moved out of state because of this. I should have self discharged after the first miserable appointment, as that discharge letter plus her notes made it difficult to find a new pain management doctor. My story does have a happy ending, as I found a new provider and am very happy with him and his staff. read more

I came here for nearly a year pre-op. I was so sure my 4 level spinal fusion was going to help my spinal pain. Not only did it not help my spinal pain it got worse & the surgeon refused to listen! So 9 months post op I went back to Sun Pain. Thank heavens for after a few months my NP, Nadine Shivers "listened" and ordered a MRI of my spine & L hip. It took awhile for them to get back to me because of the Coviid-19 virus but some unknown NP has a laptop visit with me and did NOT want to read the finding until I insisted. Once she did she totally changed her tune and said I need to see a surgeon for my spine again and one for my hip (My spine MRI showed anterior annual tearing L3-L4 & L4-L5as well as a very serious Modic type 1 end plate)! Thank goodness I insisted! Only, it has been several weeks & it is obvious I am going to have to call them about those surgery referrals. I am so thankful for my NP Nadine! read more

I was recommended to Sun Pain by my previous provider that I've been seeing for 10 years or more until he retired. Dr. Porter was the best and I trusted him when he recommended me to Sun Pain. I never had any incidents with Dr. Porter. However today I was discharged be cause I had a couple of drinks due to a loss in the family. I tried to explain to Susan however there were no chances. She mentioned that I had alcohol before but she never mentioned it to me. There are other patient that I know that go there and see other providers say that they give chances but not this provider. I can tell from the way she addresses me that she was not going to work well with. I now have to be more careful in who I choose as a provider but I recommend not to to go there or at least not see Susan. Apparently she does not care for her patients that have major chronic pain she only cares if they have a drink on a stressful day. read more

I was having a lot of lower back pain going down the back of the leg and into the calf, and after seeing the family Dr. and having a MRI it was suggested that I go to Sun Pain Management. The first visit was @ the 5501 N.19th Ave location. So after a consultation it was decided to get an injection in the hip. That was scheduled for Monday, July 6th at 1:15 pm. When I was walking up to the door it looked dark, like it was closed. I looked in and half of the lights were off, no one at the reception desk. I tried to open the door but it was locked. I called to leave a message but the mailbox was full. ( Really?) So I called back to see if I could get some one where you make an appt. there I got to leave a detailed message. I headed home and about 1/2 hr. later I get a phone call, asking me if I forgot my appt. for today. I said no I was there on time, the office was only half lit and the door was locked. She said I should have knocked on the door. I said I tried the door it was locked! She asked if I wanted to come back for the injection, I said nope, I'm already at 101 & Northern. I live out in Waddell. You can bet that I'm not a Happy Camper! read more

I am very pissed off with sun pain management. Due to the coronavirus, i didnt want to risk exposure, since i have 2 autoimmune disorders. I called every day for 2 weeks and no one answered, so i left messages. No one returned my call ever. Finally on the day before my appt someone answered and i was told they would do a video appt on the following day, which was a Friday. I was told i would recieve a text with a link in it to Zoom. I waited and waited on Friday and never got a text. I called them and was told the dr was with a patient and i was next. Nothing!! I called again and no answer. So now they are closed for the weekend!! And there have been no refills for my meds called in!! They were to be refilled on Friday. Now i have to go without until they get their heads outbof their asses and get back to me!! i will be looking for a new pain clinic as soon as this pandemic is clear!!. read more
