Our last few appointments with the new staff was full of interruptions and more talking than listening, telling me the same thing you could find online or in a book. He also has an additional appointment with the Department of Integrative Medicine and focuses a lot on nutrition and exercise, which is great for preventing disease before it begins. If you have any sort of musculoskeletal pain as well, he practices osteopathic medicine and does manipulations, which my layperson husband described to me as "massage stretching." When asked about the prescribed medication, I shared that it was causing cramping and not providing the intended benefit. Despite this, the recommendation was to continue the same course of treatment with minor adjustments. I expressed that I did not agree and was hoping to discuss alternative options. At approximately 1:32, I was told my appointment time was over and that I could discontinue the medication if I chose, review materials later, and return for another visit. When I shared that I did not feel the visit had been helpful, I was told that I was being "mean," which I found inappropriate and unprofessional. I left the appointment feeling dismissed, unsupported, and discouraged.
