We had a great family dinner. Steaks were great; well priced, quality wine; and very good service.

They got us in without a reservation which was nice, though made it seem like they weren't sure if they could, even though multiple seats were open. We chose this place for our Christmas Eve dinner and I think it was probably the best choice around. The staff was very courteous and the ambience was very nice. The food was good but not stellar I'd say, I'm actually debating with myself between a 3 or 4* review because of it... the ribeye steak was cooked medium rare as I asked and it was good, but not as tender as I'm used too. Also, I like my ribeye quite thick, and this one was kind of thin. A bit disappointing. The sirloin steak was thicker, but even tougher than the ribeye. My wife has to slice it very thinly to enjoy it. The kids Mac & cheese was blend, very skimpy on cheese and overall pretty meh. We had to order chicken strips because our daughter would not eat it (and I agreed with her actually). The strips were good and the fries were very good too. Finally the lemon curd tart was a big disappointment, the tart shell was a soft shortbread kind of dough, felt almost like a store bought shell. Very disappointing. The s'mores brownie was good, but not memorable. After re-reading what I've just written, I made up my mind and lowered the rating to 3*. read more

Sat at the bar, great bartender, really attentive service. Nice waitstaff and friendly people. Had the peppercorn strip and the beet salad. The salad was good, but the beet portions were small, the greens didn't appear to be extremely fresh. Steak was ok. It was cooked well, but extremely salty (also served with butter on top which I didn't realize until they brought it out). I'm guessing it was overly salty as it was their peppercorn preparation, but it was realllly salty. Reasonably priced - and being from the states the exchange rate also helped with that. We have been at Sun Peaks for 2 decades. This place is hit and miss. Last time was such a miss, I will not be going back. We ordered two things. Steak sandwich and the Sirloin. Steak sandwich was fine; the sirloin was about 3/8" thick, raw on one side, and well done on the other, grey on the outside. So I sent it back and they come back and ask what is wrong with the medium rare steak? Then tell me it was perfect and that they don't want to argue. All this from Mario as he rapid fire talks over you and is literally in your face. Keeps repeating he does not want to argue and that is was perfect. Oh, forgot to mention about 1/4 of the steak was gristle and connecting tissue. Also they were not crowed at all because we were early. I have never been to a Steak HOUSE, that can't cook a steak like this AND does not know it. Staff is all transient young folks, so maybe the cook is a rookie. I know I can cook a better steak in a pan just by sound, let alone sight and timing. My advise is to stop in Kamloops buy a steak and pan fry it. Local grocery steaks in Kamloops are excellent. I think they age a lot of the meat unlike the US. It will be 1/4 the cost and be much better. No need to go there. But maybe you will get something OK or even good as others have. But if you have any problems, you are wrong and there is no recourse. BTW: I went and got another meal later that night. PS: The Italian place and the Powder hounds place are both up for sale. If you want consistently good food at the same price do Voyager. They are the best on the mountain. read more

My parents and I had a great experience here! The service was friendly and quick enough. The atmosphere was quite nice. Not too loud or crowded. My dad had the bacon wrapped tenderloin and it was perfectly cooked medium. I had the ginger sesame wild coho salmon that was cooked almost perfect. It was slightly over but I prefer my salmon medium. It was still flaky and moist. The veggies served with the tenderloin and the salmon were carrots, asparagus, and a small piece of squash and they were all cooked perfectly! My mom had the Caesar with prawns and it was good. Pretty standard but the prawns were above average. We also had the dessert special which was a creme brûlée and a caramel pirouette filled with pear ice cream, creme fraiche, and fresh diced- maybe poached- pears. It was awesome! The wine special was a Syrah and was nice, nothing super special. I had low expectations for a resort restaurant but this place impressed me! I would definitely come back. read more

Excellent food and service - best yet that we've had at Sun Peaks. Eliza is an excellent server! We weren't super excited about the house red wine, but she cheerfully took it back (we went for the See Ya Later Pinot Noir...) We had the beef stroganoff - yum!!! We decided to take advantage of the 10% discount from staying with Bear Country. Not the most amazing steak I've ever had, but it was no doubt satisfying to the tummy. I asked for medium rare on the rare side and it was exactly that. My companions' steaks were also cooked to what they have specified - not over nor under. Big portions. The ambiance is family-friendly casual. The service was pleasant. We wanted a nice dine-out dinner and we got exactly that. read more

This being the only steakhouse in Sun Peaks, you have no choice if you are craving a large piece of properly cooked meat. This place looks like a steakhouse, has a steakhouse menu, and is not terribly expensive by the steakhouse standards - budget about $50 per person before tips and alcohol. The ambience is more upscale than the typical Sun Peaks establishment; there is even a coat check (optional). The meat was well prepared and cooked exactly as requested. Common-sense hint: for better results ask for better cuts, rib-eye worked out well for me. The salmon appetizer was also good, the soups - just OK. Service was prompt and efficient. read more

The Steakhouse restaurant in the SunPeaks Lodge was ok by me...however, mixed reviews...the goat cheese/fig salad was very nice. And though the filet that my friend had she really liked...mine was still making moo sounds in spite of m order for medium. my brother's NY was thin and not a great cut. The horseradish smashed were dry and flavorless. Needed attention...it was busy...VDay...maybe they have better attention to detail on a regular day. $35 corking fee. Too high. read more

Service was atrocious. Rude from beginning to end. Mario, the host was abrupt and abrasive. There is a real arrogance that comes with being one of the few steakhouses in Sun Peaks, I guess. So many WONDERFUL places to eat, and so many kind and respectful people. Stay far away from this place. read more

I was a little worried after reading the last couple of Yelp reviews but I looked on Trip advisor and there's a lot of great reviews there so we (four of us) gave it a try! I'm so glad we did! Everything was delicious. We called at 4:30 on a Tuesday to make reservations for 6:30. When we arrived we were seated immediately & the restaurant wasn't very busy. By the time we left it was PACKED. Our server, Steph, was great, the host, Mario, was friendly & amusing. We tried a variety of things on the menu. Caesar salad with garlic butter prawns added was very good, the prawns were huge. Baked Brie appetizer was a big hit... maybe a little too much of the pears with it but it was delicious. The New York steak with forest mushroom sauce was tender, flavorful & cooked perfectly. Same with the pepper crusted New York w/merlo herb butter. Baked potato was exactly what you would expect. Steak fries were good. Seasonable veggies were perfectly al dente. Sautéed field mushrooms were good. We ordered a basket of garlic herb bread for the table & it was delicious.
