I've been a fan of NYBS's restaurant since they opened, and my husband and I would visit at least…read moreonce a month for dinner.  Unfortunately, after a few recent bad experiences, we won't be returning.   My biggest issues recently have been - * Excessive salt on the Salmon BLT sandwich and meatballs - formerly, two of our favorite dishes * Smoked salmon fonduta - heating smoked salmon made this a fishy, unpalatable appetizer * Hamburger overcooked and dry, even with the added (very thinly sliced) cheddar cheese * Soggy fries * Crabcake aioli too sweet * Not enough servers to handle the demand in the restaurant, and we've noticed some turnover, too   I appreciate that NYBS offers reasonably priced specials and beverages, but their food quality has declined significantly since we first started eating there.  The only things we still enjoy are the steak flight, wings, and gouda and bacon macaroni and cheese.  It pains me to say this, but we are done. The decline in food quality and inattentive service have removed this restaurant from our rotation.

Not to mention this was during the lunch rush. That kind of service is incredibly rare and speaks volumes about how much they care about their customers. The Pollo sandwich was absolutely delicious. Meat stocks vary according to processing schedule and local buying habits, prices drop a little when cooler space is at a premium so check the calendar and choose wisely. Fruits and veggies vary with the weather as well as the seasons, I'm expecting the expected for price and selection when it warms up. Additionally, preserves, honeys, assorted tchotchky, and garden and gardening accessories are available in the modest little shed set back from the blacktop. I also think their private label items are reasonably priced and taste good. Lastly, I'm a big fan of the Publix bakery. It's the only reliable place I've found to get a good Cuban pastry like a pastelito in the suburbs of NC. Also, I grew up on Publix birthday cake, and I wholly believe it is the tastiest. Their custom cakes are super convenient, and they give you many options for cake flavor and decoration. I've never been disappointed by their selection. I love French inspired cuisine. I have traveled across France. We hosted a French exchange student for a year. I took French in school. This was meant to be a specialized gift for the occasion. The small seating area only had 10 tables tightly fitted into the back of the strip shopping center store. The decor was eclectic but overwhelming. It feels claustrophobic but clean. There were two servers tending to the dining room. They were friendly. There were mistakes on the special menu and they alerted of the issues. They had a special Valentines menu, a tea menu, and a dessert menu. The tea was good. They got it out in a reasonable time. The server brought me a smidge of honey. They had a decent selection of caffeine free teas. She took our food order the same time as our tea order. We sat at our table waiting for an hour before questioned the status of our meal. The table beside us was also becoming restless and tired of waiting. Finally the table beside us received his chicken salad sandwich. His date received my date's order ant took a bite. They resolved this by taking the plate from the incorrect table and gave it to my date AFTER it was touched! This left me sitting there with no food. My date finished her meal and I was still sitting there with nothing. I only ordered a salad topped with grilled chicken!!! After being there for one hour and fifty minutes they said the chicken was still not ready. They didn't charge if for our meal but I never received any food. Nothing. This was a well thought out special occasion that was ruined by an incompetent kitchen. It was a disaster. I left there and stopped by Jersey Mike's. Two hours of my life totally wasted.
