So we wanted to get our little ones equipped as soon as possible with the best lessons possible. With that said we looked around and found swimming success and we contacted them through email and set up appointments for lessons. I have to say that the email process did take a little longer than I would've expected, because sometimes it would be days before I would hear back from their contact. We finally got things situated where both our kids would be able to take lessons at the same time, which was exactly what we are looking for. I like how the website outlines what to expect out of the lessons and gives an overview of how the lessons will likely go. For the first 3 to 4 lessons my son was yelling and screaming for his life but by the fifth lesson he was confident enough to jump into the pool by himself! My daughter didn't really know how to swim at all when starting these lessons and by the eighth day, she was able to swim pretty much across the pool all by herself. That is very very impressive! The instructors pay close attention to each one of their students. They knowledgeable to know how far they can push the student to make big progress. The only thing that I did not like about about the lessons is that they mentioned at the end of the last lesson that my son might not be able to actually swim on his own until he turns 4 because usually at age 3 and below children are not able to hold up their bodies and lift up their neck because their muscles have not developed enough to do so yet. Had I known this, I would have waited a year and saved our money to put him in lessons next year. Now I'm a bit freaked out because he feels fully confident jumping in a pool that he is not able to swim in. Otherwise, I am very happy with the lessons they took! I was reading over other reviews and it seems there is a communication problem but this wasn't really the situation I had. They got back to me within a day or two, and they were extremely helpful over email. I would totally recommend giving them a try to get your kids to learn to swim. They will get the job done, but my advise would be to make sure your kid(s) are at least 4-5 years old. Otherwise you'll waste $300.

I was about to send her to summer camp and was nervous that she still was a poor swimmer. A friend recommended Swimming Success to me and my daughter was swimming by the 2nd day! I was thrilled! It took them two days to accomplish what the other swim lessons couldn't do in two years!! She ended up taking swim here for three years. My son is signed up for his fourth summer of taking the lessons, and I can't say enough positive things about them. In my experience the teachers have been incredibly kind and caring (he has had the same wonderful teacher every year!), and while they do tell the children they need to do certain things, it is never in a mean or unkind way. Both my children love to swim and spend all summer in the pool, so I am thrilled that they have gained such incredible skills at Swimming Success!!

Anna at Hall Swim Academy is an excellent teacher…read more Two years ago, my son (who was 7 at the time) was going to another swim school and was doing ok but advancing slowly. As part of that school's safety training, they threw him in the water wearing street clothes. He was doing ok for about 30 seconds but then panicked and started to sink so one of the teachers had to jump in and pull him out. (It was partially my fault since I mistakenly had him wear long pants that absorbed water). Anyhow, he freaked out and got very scared. We continued to go to that school for several more weeks but he stagnated with his training and the teacher became frustrated and tried to push him too hard so he had a melt down. Fast forward two years, I started taking him to the Hall Swim Academy west LA location about 2 months ago and he started trying again to learn how to swim with Anna. Anna is extremely kind and patient with kids. She demonstrates what she wants him to do and corrects mistakes in his floating and swim strokes and has him repeat as necessary. She is able to recognize how much to push and when to give him more space and repeats instructions as necessary. He loves going to swim class with Anna and is motivated to learn so he can swim with his friends at summer camp. Yesterday, he had two major breakthroughs. He spent most of the class in the pool without wearing goggles which he previously refused to do. Then, on his own, he decided he wanted to try the swim test. So, he put on street clothes over his swim suit, jumped in the water, floated on his back for 20 seconds and then easily swam to the side of the pool and climbed out on his own. He was so proud of himself for overcoming his fear and is now looking forward to his next class with Anna. I am very grateful to Anna for her kindness, professionalism, excellent teaching skills and being such a good motivator. Thank you!!

Bailey is playful and fun, but also direct in guiding my opinionated four year old so that she can be water safe. Under her instruction she was able to learn how to swim across the pool by herself unsupported. With her new found confidence she now eagerly practices diving for gems and starfishes when we go to the pool as a family. A big change from where she began this summer - completely unwilling to go swimming without support from her puddle jumper!

Teacher D brings enthusiasm, encouragement, silliness and playfulness into the pool, teaching the kids skills and allowing them to have fun all at the same time. My favorite part about Teacher D is how he begins each lesson with "Pool Rules" (i.e., never swim by yourself, if someone is in trouble run and get help and don't try to save them yourself, etc.). My kids have memorized the Pool Rules and can recite them even when not in the pool. There was also a ton of shade, which was great for us, and plenty of walkways for rollerblading or going for a stroll. The ceremony included reading each of their names out loud and placing a rose on the plaque that matched the war they died in. WWII had the most roses and deaths. They had one of the fire trucks lift up a huge American flag next to the regular sized flags of the branches of our military which surround a pilar with a live flame. There was also a live band, singers, and flybys by planes in formation. It was a very solemn and respectful ceremony to honor those who died on duty. After the ceremony, I stayed at the park for a bit longer laying a towel on the grass under a tree. I don't know if it was just the spot I picked, but even though it was really grassy, underneath it was really muddy, like when I finally got up my towel was soaked through and so was my back. Then I got lost trying to find where I parked because the park is bigger than it looks and has 3 parking lots. I thought there was only 1, so I didn't pay that much attention when I walked towards the ceremony. When I tried getting back to my car I honestly thought it might have been towed. Now I know there's a parking lot by the building that leads to the swimming pool, another next to the swimming pool itself so you can actually see the water, and the last one is next to the tennis courts and baseball field. This doesn't include the parking spots all around the perimeter of the park. The park is clean, has plenty of playgrounds for children, tables and benches to eat at, and a public restroom. It's not the quietest of parks, though, since there are so many children and it's next to a busy intersection, like during the ceremony a trash truck and a random car honked their horns in support of the ceremony. Otherwise, it really is a nice park with plenty of amenities.

This man has no conscience, no ethical compass, and does business dirty to make a profit. He is unhinged, condescending, and worships money over service, professionalism, and honesty. My child is autistic and is a Regional Center client. Lucile Cowle, also under Daland Swim School, said that they would create an account with a 3rd party payer so that they could be directly paid by the 3rd party vendor with the Lanterman Regional Center. I started communicating with Lucile Cowle Swim School on March 5, 2025. It is now July 2026 (16 months later), and I was finally reimbursed financially after countless calls and emails. The only way that I was paid for adaptive swim lessons was to bypass LC completely, and Aveanna 3rd-party payers conducted a full investigation to unpack their numerous lies. Dealing with this unethical company was so traumatic and all-consuming. Aveanna had to create an internal memo to no longer deal with this company because they would often refuse to respond, say they already did without turning in the necessary paperwork, and they never responded to the Lanterman Regional Center. My Lanterman Regional Center worker constantly reached out to LC, and their statements about when they responded do not align with any of the paper trail. They have made it difficult at every turn. Read my reviews. I never posted a single negative review of a business before today. Even when I get less than stellar service or food/goods-I try to give businesses the benefit of the doubt and don't want to damage their business in chance it was just an off day. However, this took 16 months of my time, and the executive director, Tarrik Daou, was so nasty, condescending, and more fearful of not covering his bases when too many outside parties (not me) came with financial questions than actually providing honest, reputable service or transparent, ethical accounting. I have a long paper trail to back up every claim I make, as opposed to Lucile Cowle (now Daland Swim School), who can't keep records or even finish setting up a business account after 8 months. This is step 1 of any financial accounting. I just can't in any good conscience recommend this awful institution or Tarrik's narcissistic personality as someone you want to deal with. Please. There are other reputable swim schools who won't lie to you. I don't call people liars easily; in fact, I literally never have before in any business review. I had to come up with a long paper trail and unravel his lies because he's such an expert gaslighter; you want to double and triple-check facts to make sure the accounting is done correctly. Please take your business elsewhere. There are swim schools that actually care about your kids, not just the money that comes with it. If your child has any special needs, please stay away. Being a special-needs parent who must advocate for your child's special needs is hard; why add to your load by constantly having to unravel one vendor's outright lies? Your time is precious, and your child can become an agile swimmer at a swim school that loves children and not just sees an opportunity to financially exploit you.

So for nearly $380 per month, you're paying for maybe 30-40 minutes of actual one-on-one attention over the entire month. Am I missing something, or is that an insane amount of money? To make matters worse, the pool smelled like it had more chlorine than water, the facility looked very outdated, and the overall environment didn't feel particularly clean or safe. Curious to hear what other parents are paying for swim lessons these days.

But it was my first time there (came for a meeting in one of their terrific community rooms) and I wasn't prepared. Absolutely make sure you allow for a LOT of time, especially if you're there on a weekend, or in the morning. That parking lot is a fright! But this is a gem of a YMCA.
