Last summer, when my son was 3, we took classes with Mackenzie and she is the perfect teacher for first time learners due to her sweet and caring nature. My son has never been exposed to swim lessons before but she helped ease him into swimming and by the end of the 8 day class he was able to swim on his own for several feet. I decided to wait until he was 3 to start swim lessons since I read that kids do not develop the muscle memory to truly master swimming until they are that age. Going to class on a regular basis and having private instruction truly expedites learning. After completing the 8 day program with Mackenzie, I enrolled him in weekly private Rose Bowl Aquatic center classes for the rest of the summer to continue practice, but its harder to see dramatic improvement from having classes only once a week. That prompted me to sign him up again this summer to take advantage of the 8 day consecutive schedule. I am glad they have classes in the evenings so we can attend them after work. We just finished our classes with Andrew, who helped my son improve his freestyle, as well as learn the backstroke, breaststroke and the butterfly. The butterfly was the hardest one for my son to learn but I was amazed they were even teaching it considering he is only 4 and still a relatively new swimmer. By the end of the session, he was able to swim the length of the pool on his own and then back using a different stroke. My son absolutely loved going to swim class and would jump in the pool excitedly to join Andrew, who is a very patient and nice instructor. I am definitely going to make sure that my daughter's introduction to swimming is also going to be this program since I like to optimize efficiency and going to class once a week seems like a very drawn out and ineffective process. Both Mackenzie and Andrew have been absolutely outstanding and I am so happy these swim classes are available in our neighborhood. Highly recommend this program to young kids !

So we wanted to get our little ones equipped as soon as possible with the best lessons possible. With that said we looked around and found swimming success and we contacted them through email and set up appointments for lessons. I have to say that the email process did take a little longer than I would've expected, because sometimes it would be days before I would hear back from their contact. We finally got things situated where both our kids would be able to take lessons at the same time, which was exactly what we are looking for. I like how the website outlines what to expect out of the lessons and gives an overview of how the lessons will likely go. For the first 3 to 4 lessons my son was yelling and screaming for his life but by the fifth lesson he was confident enough to jump into the pool by himself! My daughter didn't really know how to swim at all when starting these lessons and by the eighth day, she was able to swim pretty much across the pool all by herself. That is very very impressive! The instructors pay close attention to each one of their students. They knowledgeable to know how far they can push the student to make big progress. The only thing that I did not like about about the lessons is that they mentioned at the end of the last lesson that my son might not be able to actually swim on his own until he turns 4 because usually at age 3 and below children are not able to hold up their bodies and lift up their neck because their muscles have not developed enough to do so yet. Had I known this, I would have waited a year and saved our money to put him in lessons next year. Now I'm a bit freaked out because he feels fully confident jumping in a pool that he is not able to swim in. Otherwise, I am very happy with the lessons they took! I was reading over other reviews and it seems there is a communication problem but this wasn't really the situation I had. They got back to me within a day or two, and they were extremely helpful over email. I would totally recommend giving them a try to get your kids to learn to swim. They will get the job done, but my advise would be to make sure your kid(s) are at least 4-5 years old. Otherwise you'll waste $300.

Anna at Hall Swim Academy is an excellent teacher…read more Two years ago, my son (who was 7 at the time) was going to another swim school and was doing ok but advancing slowly. As part of that school's safety training, they threw him in the water wearing street clothes. He was doing ok for about 30 seconds but then panicked and started to sink so one of the teachers had to jump in and pull him out. (It was partially my fault since I mistakenly had him wear long pants that absorbed water). Anyhow, he freaked out and got very scared. We continued to go to that school for several more weeks but he stagnated with his training and the teacher became frustrated and tried to push him too hard so he had a melt down. Fast forward two years, I started taking him to the Hall Swim Academy west LA location about 2 months ago and he started trying again to learn how to swim with Anna. Anna is extremely kind and patient with kids. She demonstrates what she wants him to do and corrects mistakes in his floating and swim strokes and has him repeat as necessary. She is able to recognize how much to push and when to give him more space and repeats instructions as necessary. He loves going to swim class with Anna and is motivated to learn so he can swim with his friends at summer camp. Yesterday, he had two major breakthroughs. He spent most of the class in the pool without wearing goggles which he previously refused to do. Then, on his own, he decided he wanted to try the swim test. So, he put on street clothes over his swim suit, jumped in the water, floated on his back for 20 seconds and then easily swam to the side of the pool and climbed out on his own. He was so proud of himself for overcoming his fear and is now looking forward to his next class with Anna. I am very grateful to Anna for her kindness, professionalism, excellent teaching skills and being such a good motivator. Thank you!!

Teacher D brings enthusiasm, encouragement, silliness and playfulness into the pool, teaching the kids skills and allowing them to have fun all at the same time. My favorite part about Teacher D is how he begins each lesson with "Pool Rules" (i.e., never swim by yourself, if someone is in trouble run and get help and don't try to save them yourself, etc.). My kids have memorized the Pool Rules and can recite them even when not in the pool. I came here for the Memorial Day ceremony. I had never been to this park before and didn't know it…read morehad memorial plaques for people in our city who died in various wars. The ceremony included reading each of their names out loud and placing a rose on the plaque that matched the war they died in. WWII had the most roses and deaths. They had one of the fire trucks lift up a huge American flag next to the regular sized flags of the branches of our military which surround a pilar with a live flame. There was also a live band, singers, and flybys by planes in formation. It was a very solemn and respectful ceremony to honor those who died on duty. After the ceremony, I stayed at the park for a bit longer laying a towel on the grass under a tree. I don't know if it was just the spot I picked, but even though it was really grassy, underneath it was really muddy, like when I finally got up my towel was soaked through and so was my back. Then I got lost trying to find where I parked because the park is bigger than it looks and has 3 parking lots. I thought there was only 1, so I didn't pay that much attention when I walked towards the ceremony. When I tried getting back to my car I honestly thought it might have been towed. Now I know there's a parking lot by the building that leads to the swimming pool, another next to the swimming pool itself so you can actually see the water, and the last one is next to the tennis courts and baseball field. This doesn't include the parking spots all around the perimeter of the park. The park is clean, has plenty of playgrounds for children, tables and benches to eat at, and a public restroom. It's not the quietest of parks, though, since there are so many children and it's next to a busy intersection, like during the ceremony a trash truck and a random car honked their horns in support of the ceremony. Otherwise, it really is a nice park with plenty of amenities.

Let's break that down: * About 8 classes per month. * 30 minutes per class shared among 4-6 kids. * Realistically, that's only a few minutes of individual attention from the instructor each session. So for nearly $380 per month, you're paying for maybe 30-40 minutes of actual one-on-one attention over the entire month. Am I missing something, or is that an insane amount of money? To make matters worse, the pool smelled like it had more chlorine than water, the facility looked very outdated, and the overall environment didn't feel particularly clean or safe. Curious to hear what other parents are paying for swim lessons these days.

I have a health condition that causes my blood sugars to drop really low(especially while training)so I always have food packed! One day I asked Logan if I could eat on the table, he respectfully declined and said I could eat on the bench in the background of this picture. So I did! No problem. A week later I was working out for about an hour before I started going hypoglycemic. I felt like fainting. So I sat down on that same bench and ate my food to stabilize my blood sugars. Logan rudely interrupts and proceeds to tell me I can no longer eat on the bench (that he previously gave me permission to) that's completely separated with a wall partition from the rest of the gym. He tried kicking me out for eating a meal! This is discriminatory behavior and should not be tolerated! I contacted corporate because the way he escalated the situation was completely unnecessary. There's no need to kick me out of my own gym when I could barely walk. It seems like Logan is abusing his staff power instead of taking care of his members. I should've been asked if I was feeling ok instead of being asked to leave. I'm terminating my membership as soon as the 2 year commitment expires.
