Anna at Hall Swim Academy is an excellent teacher. Two years ago, my son (who was 7 at the time) was going to another swim school and was doing ok but advancing slowly. As part of that school's safety training, they threw him in the water wearing street clothes. He was doing ok for about 30 seconds but then panicked and started to sink so one of the teachers had to jump in and pull him out. (It was partially my fault since I mistakenly had him wear long pants that absorbed water). Anyhow, he freaked out and got very scared. We continued to go to that school for several more weeks but he stagnated with his training and the teacher became frustrated and tried to push him too hard so he had a melt down. Fast forward two years, I started taking him to the Hall Swim Academy west LA location about 2 months ago and he started trying again to learn how to swim with Anna. Anna is extremely kind and patient with kids. She demonstrates what she wants him to do and corrects mistakes in his floating and swim strokes and has him repeat as necessary. She is able to recognize how much to push and when to give him more space and repeats instructions as necessary. He loves going to swim class with Anna and is motivated to learn so he can swim with his friends at summer camp. Yesterday, he had two major breakthroughs. He spent most of the class in the pool without wearing goggles which he previously refused to do. Then, on his own, he decided he wanted to try the swim test. So, he put on street clothes over his swim suit, jumped in the water, floated on his back for 20 seconds and then easily swam to the side of the pool and climbed out on his own. He was so proud of himself for overcoming his fear and is now looking forward to his next class with Anna. I am very grateful to Anna for her kindness, professionalism, excellent teaching skills and being such a good motivator. Thank you!! read more

We've been with them for almost 2.5 years and our kiddo, who's now 7, went from zero swimming ability, to swimming across the pool, in both directions, in multiple styles! We started swim lessons at Hall Swim Academy for our then 3 years old daughter about a year ago. Our daughter was very scared of putting her face in the water and there was not much progress for awhile. Due to some scheduling quirks, we also had 3 or 4 different instructors for the first few months which did not help with consistency and building her comfort in the water. Swim lessons became a battle and we were ready to stop lessons altogether. Around 8 months ago, just before we decided to stop, we started lessons with Oskar and since then, our daughter went from crying and refusing to leave the steps to swimming to the other side of the pool on her own easily. Oskar really made the lesson fun for her, giving her the right amount of push and encouragement to try something hard while also letting her play and just enjoy the water. She really trusts him and now she is actually looking forward to swim lessons. She is still not the most confident in the water, but she has made so much progress in her techniques and asks to go to the pool all the time. read more

I highly recommend this place. True progress with both my 8 year old daughter who has been a fish her whole life, as well as my 3 year old son who has been water-shy since he (and I) endured an unpleasant swim lesson when he was very little. Oskar has been so good for them. My daughter is developing real swim skills (even working on pace, etc), and my son went from not wanting to leave the steps to jumping willingly, and participating in every way. I used to say that I knew how to swim to survive, but definitely was not someone who would swim for fun. I decided to change that and started private lessons with Hall Swim Academy and with Burcin as an instructor. Burcin is amazing. She did a great job of figuring out where the (many, many) gaps were in my swimming and broke down how to fix them. When I got stuck she'd come back each lesson with new ideas or new approaches until it finally clicked. Burcin has an incredible attitude and lots of patience. As for Hall Swim Academy they've been extremely easy to work with. Scheduling has been super straight forward and flexible with my own busy work schedule. Decided to go with Hall Swim Academy because they provide attention and custom curricula through 1:1 lessons, locations are convenient and the team is fantastic. I've been able to start from the basics which involves floating technique, front stroke, back stroke, breast stroke, water safety and more. My instructor Burcin is amazing - attentive, friendly, fun, and professional. Best of all, Bebe and team are quick to respond and make it easy for me to attend and schedule lessons despite a busy, full-time job. I appreciate they are one of the few swim schools to offer swim lessons all-year round! The lesson cost for their shared public pool ($89/hour) is not inexpensive, but it's been worth it for me. Very Disappointed with Hall Swim Academy. We have signed up with their Private lessons at home only to find out they collect travel fee - which was 80% of the fee they charged for the lesson and it doesn't mention on website nor did they ever mention until after they did the swim lesson. Their instructor was also late even though we have agreed on several communications that she needs to be on time as we are working around a tight schedule. I have read good comments and reviews for Hall Swim unfortunately we had a different experience. If anyone is inquiring with them please make sure you put into writing anything agreed to avoid surprise fees after lessons! Would not recommend. read more

Our most current instructor, Margaux, is very patient, fun, sweet and professional. She is always on time and she teaches very well with different technics that my kids all know how to swim now. We learned with Margaux about 5 months. As an adult, I also learned with Margaux. I know basic free style but didn't swim well at all. Margaux taught me a lot of ways to be more confident in the water, she never rushes me. I did learn a lot from her. Highly recommend this place and Margaux! Scheduling is easy and they do get back to you, instructors always be on time and we love that! I did try other places that instructor canceled the class without letting us know so we still showed up at the pool. 5 stars!!! read more
