We really enjoyed our 8 day cruise on the Norwegian Joy with the itinerary from NYC to Quebec City…read more  This was our 9th cruise.  Thanks to Hurricane Idalia the original 9 day itinerary was shortened from 9 to 8 days and we had to disappointingly skip the Boston and Portland ports but it was still a delightful cruise.   Some observations follow.  Overall, I go with 4.49 stars and it was held back from 5 mainly because several beef and fish dishes in the main Manhattan and Taste dining rooms were pretty mediocre and the meal service was on the slow side.  But we were never in a rush either.   Otherwise, food quality and variety was quite decent given the price point for this cruise.   Staffers throughout the ship and the trip were attentive, pleasant, and courteous. I was pleased and would again recommend NCL based on our wonderful trip experience.  This is a big ship with 20 levels and a capacity of 3802.  I think I saw a list that stated it was the 9th largest cruise ship by tonnage.  It didn't feel overcrowded except during embarkation and when the rooms weren't ready (it was challenging finding a sitting spot anywhere) but that's pretty normal for early on Day 1.  Embarkation from the scenic Manhattan Cruise Terminal and disembarkation at the very scenic Quebec City port were efficient.  Those are two awesome ports I must say. Elevator usage throughout the trip wasn't bad.  The elegant Observation Lounge on the 15th deck was unique with lots of cozy lounge seating, good viewing, a bar, a piano, and a snack bar.  It was a secret for most of the cruise.  Best feature of this ship! Entertainment was of good variety and availability.  Between the big theatre, the several smaller music venues, the comedy shows, and the atrium, there was always an entertainment option available.  The main Broadway show "Footloose" was an entertaining 100 minutes long, and good, and much like a regular theatre production with many stage props!  The Beatles Revolution cover band was also always extremely popular with the older crowd on board.  I heard there were only 25 kids amongst the 3800 passengers, and that looked about right. With any NCL cruise, pre-book any events and dinners that you can, but stand-by on other occasions still worked for us.  NCL's business model allows for many stand-bys to make it into their various venues, but still best to book ahead if at all possible.  There were plenty of bars and they were conveniently everywhere.   This was another relatively unique feature of this ship.  Quite nice when you have the unlimited drinks package as we and many others did.  I think I averaged 6 drinks per day so they got me and I didn't get them, but at least I wasn't in a daze all the time lol.   Cleanliness, freshness, functionality, and room layout was good and they had a quite good shower size.  On board WiFi was ok/spotty but that's kinda cruise ship normal.   Entertainment and dining venues tended to be a little smaller than the same-named equivalents on the Norwegian Epic.  That's neither here nor there but the ships are not cookie cutter designs.   Having the sparsely used casino in the middle of the ship on busy 7th deck seemed odd to me but whatever.  The Joy Speedway racetrack was unique, cool, and fun.  On top of that, it was a great value at only $15 for an 8 minute race window.  That's the cost of one drink!  Besides, I whipped everyone in my race and my experience as a Chicago taxi driver still showed even after 50 years lol! The Canadian excursions (except in QC) were lacking IMO but that was not much of an issue for us.  We enjoy just walking about in the little port towns, checking out the scenery, getting our fitness steps in, and finding some free Wifi when we can.  The best part of the itinerary and the driving force for our cruise selection was docking for a final night in lovely Quebec City and after a morning arrival.  We basically got 1.5 days to explore this very delightful and very European-like city.  Our 13th floor starboard side balcony room faced the scenic cape and the very famous and iconic Fairmont le Chateau Frontenac atop of it.  This was by far the most scenic port stop we've encountered to date in some 9 cruises.  Bring docked in spectacular Manhattan was pretty cool too for what that's worth as well.   Overall, very enjoyable and highly recommended, but with cruises you have to experience yourself and decide what you personally prefer.  Several older folks thought the ship was too big but that's them.    PS - NCL readily refunded me the missed port excursion costs and and cost of a lost cruise day but made me rely on travel insurance to make up for hotel, no airport transport, ride-share costs, and extra paid meals.  And btw, Zurich (Costco Travel's trip insurer) came through for us with prompt and total coverage of these trip delay costs.

I had such a terrible experience with the NCL customer and resolution service that I have decided to take my business elsewhere after 10+ years of sailing with NCL, as a Platinum sailor. Buyers beware! You have to double, triple check their work, and they refused to fix any error by them but to put the blame on you. I booked a cruise on the NCL Encore this coming March, sailing from Miami. Requested Airfare for two friends who are sailing with me. A girls trip! The second friend was added a couple of days later, because I didn't have her personal information. After adding the second friend to the booking, the cost of the airfare doubled so, all indication of an added flyer. When we only receive a single airfare voucher, we called and after many hours of wait time, disconnected calls and hang ups. They admitted that it's their error for not including the second person to airfare. But refuse to make good by either issuing a refund for the added airfare charged or book a ticket for our friend. Now, we lost the paid extra airfare and now have to book an airplane ticket on our own to fly our friend down to Miami. This is the worst customer service I have EVER experienced! DO NOT SAIL WITH NCL if you want to have a nice vacation! Any mishaps, you are on your own, they will not help or give any support, they will ruin any enjoyment that you think you may get from your vacation. You will be lucky if you get through to the customer service. I have cancelled my upcoming April Vacation to Europe, taking a 25% loss to my paid booking. I will not support this business again! I would have cancelled this March booking as well, but they make it so punitive that we ended up losing all but 25% of the thousands dollar we paid!

FRAUDS! So I was contacted by "ray" from sky capital referrals aka sky relocation to transport my…read morecar from Texas to Alaska! Once they received my $250 deposit they never answered my phone calls and when I finally got fed up with it, I emailed them stating I wanted to cancel since there was never a contract and nothing was being done. They promised to have a carrier pick up my vehicle on Mon 9/29 (BTW its way overdue). They refused to refund my deposit and then I called from other phone lines (just so they would answer) and was continually given the runaround in which finally I had enough, demanded my refund and "ray" called me a b@#$% and hung up on me!!! How is this right? We are in the military and don't have that much money! I am beyond furious and plan on posting on every single review site I can find!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! I just want my dang refund back !! Luckily, I was able to find another BETTER company to help me with this mess!!
