We met our guide, Steve, at "The Greek Joint Kitchen & Bar." We started our eating there with warm bread accompanied by seasoned dipping olive oil, tzatziki on cucumber, and Greek-style pork ribs with lemon roasted potatoes. Next was "My Favorite Spot," an Asian fusion eatery that sports custom food bowls. We were served a chicken bowl, with a tray of 8 sauces to chose from, a garlic shrimp, and a queso frito. Our third stop was at "ChileLimon" where we had meat tacos on the best corn tortillas. Along with the savory item we sipped margaritas and coconut lemonade (for the non-alcoholic drinkers). Then we headed to "Verocca Sweet & Salty House" where we had (salty) empanadas and alfajors (sweet sandwich cookies). I guess the empanadas are supposed to be salty (hence the name of the eatery), but they were too salty for me. Others in the group liked them. We all loved the (dulce de leche, guava, nut) sandwich cookies. Our final stop was "Chocolada," where we each chose one dessert and a cookie but took them home because we were too full to eat anymore. During the walk from place to place, Steve regaled us with some history about the city of Hollywood and pointed out a few interesting spots. It was definitely an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Our group met up with our tour guide Anthony at El Camino in Pineapple Grove. We were given a short introduction and sat down to our first tasting starting with Margaritas, Home Made Chips with Red and Green Salsa and Brisket Quesadillas. What a great way to start the fun. Next stop was a real surprise, an Asian Street Food location off the beaten path called Goodies. We sampled a delicious fruit tea and a new item to me JianBing, an Asian chicken burrito with a crunch which made the taste and texture exceptional. We actually watched the chef create this on a crepe maker! (see video) This is a great affordable lunch stop in Delray! Next stop, Beer Trade company very conveniently located next door to Goodies. Everyone was offered a beer of their choice from a HUGE selection in the cold case and on tap. It all started in Maryland so Old Bay was a great addition to their Honey Old Bay wings recipe marinated in what else BEER. They were crispy and sweet with quite a kick! We also sampled the risotto balls - yummy! We walked a few blocks to stop #4 Death by Pizza! The owner Koby greeted us and gave us some background of this Detroit style pizza company which has become a very popular location two blocks off Atlantic. What a treat! This business is take-out only so we stood outside and sampled a square thick crispy crust slice topped with amazing cheese and tomato sauce known as The Enemy! I can see why..i gained a pound in the sampling but boy was it worth it!! Sadly one last stop, (i was FULL but having way too much fun) @ Dekes Coffee. Nico, a young visionary, gave us a full explanation of the coffee making process as we sampled an affogato, espresso shot over a scoop of vanilla ice cream. If you like strong unsweetened coffee, this is your coffee shop. From coffee plant to green coffee beans to the roasting process, we saw it all. Unfortunately, I don't remember where the coffee beans originated in our espresso affogato, however Nico spoke of Ethiopian coffee as one they serve often. I would highly recommend this tour as a chance to sample some great independent restaurants in Delray. Our group seemed to be most impressed with the gems we found off the beaten path. We topped off our tour with a trip to Archibalds Village Bakery, where we were given either a blueberry scone or a cream scone. I would have much preferred to choose my bakery item (like we did at Hollywood Donut on the Las Olas tour). It's a short boat ride that takes you through the canals behind the mansions and quasi-famous homes on the water. Your guide on board will tell you about the homes and landmarks you pass en route. There is a bar on board, so no need to sail sober! LOL There are also a few snacks for purchase. The air movement on the boat keeps you from getting too warm, even when the sun is blazing, but don't forget your sunscreen. There's no bad seat aboard. All in all, it's a nice little boat ride if you're looking to get outside and burn some time in Fort Lauderdale. There is a string of food shops along the waterfront outside the entrance, so you can plan to grab lunch or dinner before or after your ride. We really enjoyed our trip, but I'm deducting one star due to the boat traffic (which I know they cannot really help). Maneuvering around all the other drunks in their watercraft was kind of a drag.
