Years ago when we first bought this house Big Kahuna started pool seevice for us. He collected $50 on the very first visit and left my water on and never came back. We had flood in my backyard. We never heard from him. This time I thought things might be different since 7 yeras had passed (we all learn from our mistakes). He came out the first time and forgot to clean the filter in the back. I called him to point that out, he said "I don't think we'll be a good match", just like that! I was happy to discover that salesman Steve there in Gilroy is incredibly knowledgable, helpful and low pressure (I for one cannot tolerate that sort of stress) and there was a wideselection of hot tub models. We discussed our needs with him and after some comparison shopping finally decided upon on a Caldera Seychelles (really glad we didn't impulsively go with Costco for this decision!!!) Steve was even able to recommend an electrician who often hooks up this brand and has an ongoing relationship with HTW. My wife had some real concerns about access to our yard but they were dispelled once we did a facetime video call down our pathway and clarified the dimensions needed. When it came time for delivery it was fascinating how professional and careful the crew was, like a brutish ballet! Now basking in the glorious 102-degree temperature of our tub, as our tensions melt away we now think that this might have been one of the better decisions of our life!

He charged me almost $100 for two pool floaters that sell for $18.50 each on Amazon. I realize a business needs to mark prices up some, but this was highway robbery. Before he started weekly service, he texted me that he charges "about $200 per month." The moment he started, he said his rate was $250! He ended up only working for me for about 5 weeks -- I just couldn't handle his gouging. The final straw for me was when he tried to charge me a 2nd time for a filter clean out/tear down. When he was called out on it, he took it off the invoice. During the 5 weeks, he filled cracks in the cement around the pool. He charged me a pretty penny, but he never finished the job. He gave me two excuses: 1) He didn't see all of the cracks the first time (even though we paid him $800 for a pool inspection before we bought the house), and 2) he ran out of material. I have asked him 3 times to come back and complete the job, but just like what happened to the other people posting here on Yelp, he just disappeared. What makes him so dangerous is that he is a "cool guy" and he is super knowledgeable -- I'll give him that. But unfortunately he looks at your pool as if it were an ATM machine, and he has no scruples. Steer clear of this guy!
