Nothing is "perfect", but by giving this a 5 star review i'm looking passed the inevitable hurdles and obstacles of doing a major construction project that tears apart your entire backyard. I'm focusing on the experience as a whole, which includes the communication between everyone involved, the personalities of the major players, how everyone handled the work as well as the hiccups along the way, etc. To preface - any time you do a project this big, with this many subcontractors and city inspections involved, there will almost ALWAYS be a missed deadline, a temporary stoppage of work and a few points that may need to be clarified to Swan or the subcontractors. It is MY job as the home owner to be comfortable addressing everything, upfront and throughout the entire build process, with the people involved. That is where Tony and his workers exceeded all expectations. At NO point did I hesitate to be honest with Tony about what we wanted (during the planning phases), how it was looking (during the construction phases), and when/where I wanted more time spent on the project. Subcontractors: This selection of contractors was superb. They were all professional and efficient, and i've established business relationships with the landscaper for work outside of the scope of this specific project because he was so pleasant to work with Timeline: We started the process around late September of 2019, and estimated the finish date to be in April. This was a big project that encompassed more landscaping in other areas as well as adding solar, etc. Although it felt slow at times, the timeline was adhered to and we finished in April of 2020. Its easy as a home owner who has to look at a giant hole in the ground every day to become impatient, but when I stepped back and looked at the initial discussions about timeline, everything was going to plan which included allotting time for potential hold ups Materials: We couldn't be happier with the choices we made (and the choices we were given). We went with something called "silver travertine" and it is fantastic - on a very hot and sunny day it doesn't overheat I can lay down on it with almost no hesitation after hours of direct sunlight exposure. The interior of the pool is smooth and looks beautiful through the water (just make sure to BRUSH the pool after its filled like they tell you to - can't stress how important this is). Solar: Get it. Period. It has recently been able to heat my pool up to the low 90's which is incredible for my small children. It also helps remove the headache of having to either consistently gas heat your pool in order to swim in it, or to have to plan when you'd like to swim in warmer water by firing up the heater hours before swimming. Conclusion: A project this big takes a lot of effort from the homeowner as well as the contractors. Working in the real estate industry myself, I can't stress how important it is to be understanding and easy to work with - as opposed to expecting the contractors to be able to read your mind and magically avoid all unforeseen obstacles throughout the construction process. This is a long overdue review for Swan Pools and their wonderful team (Tony, Roberto, Francis and Angie). Long story short, we had to fire a previous company who was completely incompetent and left our pool project in a complete mess (they dug a giant hole in the ground, did a bit of rebar and never return). After months of following up with this company and no response, we found Swan Pools. The professionalism we have experienced with this team is day and night! I am updating the review to 3 stars because our pool is operating well, and we've had no major mechanical or structural problems going into the 3rd year of operation. (A slight pool cover repair and re-adjustment was needed this year -- very inexpensive service call). In all, the pool is operating well and the circulation and water quality has remained excellent and we've enjoyed two summers in the pool and the hot tub/spa in the winter months. After again reflecting on the quite time-consuming and lengthy process to build the pool with SWAN, it's important to note that the end result is REALLY nice and is (so far) minimal maintenance. I do trust that Tony and others in the SWAN pool office have taken feedback to help streamline and communicate to their customers about the complex process of pool building and you will probably get the pool you want if you invest on spending time with Tony and his team on ALL of the critical decisions and quality checkpoints. Perhaps other pool builders are better at communicating and doing quality assurance during the build. Or perhaps not . We did get a fine pool from SWAN after all is said and done. Just don't expect that the project will be on "auto-pilot"; pllan to invest a lot of time in this big undertaking. Then, you will reap the rewards. read more

I signed agreement to have Swan build my pool in September 2021 after working with Vince on a design concept. I worked with them over the course of the next 11 months to complete the project. From design to construction they were super responsive and helped address any concerns or questions I had. While it did take longer than expected to construct, part of that was due to the city where I live, taking a long time to get the permits. The team at Swan: Tony, Roberto, Francis, Natalie, all helped along the way with different parts of the project. Someone was always there to answer my questions or find the answer. Of course while doing a project of this size, there's bound to be some frustrating times, but we were always able to work through those. I called Swan Pools yesterday right after closing with our issue and the answering service told us someone would get back to us in the morning. After no one called I called back at 2:24pm and spoke to Ivan. I explained I was calling on behalf of my elderly parent and needed to get a copy of the final bill from several years ago in order to not be hit with a $30K plus taxes on selling the home. Ivan was professional, listened and told me the former owner sold the company and he would have our paperwork but it was at his home so he would need a little time to email him and then he'd get back with us with our requested paperwork/receipt. I shared all pertinent info with Ivan and he communicated he understood the gravity of my parent's tax implications. Later at 3:46pm I received a call from Swan Pools but was unable to answer being with said elderly parent at a medical appointment. I called back at 4:06pm and spoke with Natalie and right from the very moment she started talking things went south. First off she was acting like she didn't even want to speak with me and was in a hurry and wanted me to accept what she was saying and not say a word back. She stated the company had been sold so there was nothing Swan Pools could do (in a 'whatever' type of spirit and tone). I shared that there were large tax implications and I was calling on behalf of an elderly parent. She reiterated in a completely bitter spirit and tone there was nothing they could do and in effect was stating in no uncertain terms to accept it and she was ready to end the call. At this point I shared that I had already spoken to Ivan who told me the information was there but located with the former owner and it would take a few days to get the info but Ivan was certain Swan Pools could get the extremely important final receipt we needed to provide the IRS for a capital improvement expenditure. It was obvious Natalie didn't want to hear it and in fact I felt she was very much rooting against us. I then shared that I was taken aback by Natalie's 'who cares' attitude and again I was calling on behalf of my 77yr old bed-ridden parent and before I could finish my statement she curtly and rudely cut me off and shouted in a bitter tone, "Age has nothing to do with it!" At that point I tried to respond but she hung up on me in the most belligerent and unprofessional manner. Pretty sure Natalie's real name is 'Karen.' My advice is ask for Ivan or simply look to give your hard-earned money to a much more professionally run company that values their clients past and present and is seasoned with grace. Absolutely NOT!!! Don't do it!!!! Building Crap, with crap!!!! We had a beautiful pool built years ago. I'm a contractor and questioned every one of their "LOW BID LARRY" contractors. Not one Swan person did any building. Only sub-contractors that don't care about anything. A two year worthless warranty. We have had many costly plumbing leaks under cement. We have numerous ugly rust spots on pool floor from rebar. Pump motors didn't. Leaking valves. Leaking solar. Pot smoking installers on side yard. Day one everything looked good. As time went on all the crappy cheap parts and pumps installed by non-Swan employees started to fail. Then came the cement cutting due to crappy plumbing installations. What's next? You get what you pay for, and they definitely only used "LOW BID Larry" not one swan employee did anything but take our money. I wish we never hired them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

He was referred to us by our landscape company owner.They did an amazing job, giving us a beautiful pool. Their customer service during and post install is exemplary. Had Swan come and start the designs for my backyard pool 6 months ago. Spent an hour of my time working with them at the house. Several months past and they did not send me designs or a quote. Called them a week ago to enquirer what has happened. They found my address and confirmed they had me in the system, and would go and find out what has happened. Swan Pools just completed my pool and spa project last week. There were many challenges to my project as it involved some pretty extensive grading, excavation (over 1000 sq. ft. pool), grotto, beach entry, automated fire features, etc. I interviewed and received estimates from three companies. Of the three, I found Swan to be the most knowledgeable regarding my project and got the feeling they would be the most qualified to build my project. I met with Tony during several meetings and he was very amicable to my input, offering up advice and suggestions along the way. He was also the only one of the three companies to raise questions or concerns about my initial landscape design. While I would be happy to pay a premium for this service, I found Swan's estimate to be right in line with the other companies proposals. Swan handled the permit process which was a little tricky due to a creek in my backyard but took care of all the feedback from the county and helped push our permits through without any real work by me. After the permit was issued, we met onsite with Tony and the rest of his team to spray out the pool location and they got right to work grading and digging the pool. Swan and his team also helped coordinate and communicate between the landscaper and another contractor working out there to ensure that our project turned out as planned and keep progress moving. As with any project, especially one of this size, there were some challenges that came up and changes needed, but Swan was extremely fair along the way and helped offer solutions that exceeded our expectations! I have and will continue to recommend Swan Pools to anyone who's asked me. My backyard is better than I predicted, and my experience with Swan couldn't have been better! read more

We had Tony and the Swan Pools crew install a pool over the summer of 2015, but wanted to wait a full year before writing the review to see how things settled. In short, we couldn't be more thrilled. The pool exceeded our expectations and the team's craftsmanship is top notch. Tony was super helpful during during all phases of the project. He not only designed the pool, but the hardscaping as well, and help us determine where we should spend that extra bit vs what we we better off not including in the project. I've worked with a lot of contractors since moving into our new home, and most result in delays, change orders and general frustration and I'm pleased that we didn't encounter any of that with this job. The process did take quite a while, but it was all according the what the initial plan was and we remained on budget. Perhaps the most impressive (and somewhat surprising) thing is Tony's communication and general responsiveness. He answers his emails within hours and I don't think I ever heard his voicemail. Contrast this where it can take forever to get ahold of a contractor, I was really pleased in how quickly Tony responded to my emails and answered all of my questions quickly and throughly. Best part, even though the job finished a year ago, he still answers all my questions quickly (I often send him questions regarding the equipment or maintenance). We live in the mountains and knew by past experience not all pool builders are willing to take on the job (another pool company never came back with a quote even after repeated calls). Sheri was very patient with me as I changed my mind on tile several times which caused adjustments to pricing. We are also one of their few clients who wanted a diving board. It can be done. I am not sure where to start and where to finish, about the negligence on the Part of Swan Pools. First of, please save your 100k and don't sign with these guys. Over promise and under deliver is there motto. The ownership is only concerned about the number of pools that they do in a year, least about the quality of work or the customer service !! Some of the good employees that they had have joined their competitors and the New Hire Mickey Lee is a lost soul, who seems to hate his job and every new client that Swan signs up. Customer Service ( After you sign the contract) is non existent. They want to get paid the whole contract amount and the upgrades before even you have water in your pool EVERYTHING is an upgrade, means what you signed for is a substandard product. I can list each an every thing that they are doing under the radar, but I guess it would be a waste of time. We just had our old pool re-done by Swan Pools and couldn't be happier. Tony was fair in his estimate and his time line was right on. We added a hot tub inside the pool, a baja shelf for the kids, re-did all the tile and all the plumbing to switch over to a salt system. They also re-did the entire equipment pad as part of the project. With so many moving pieces I was worried that problems would come up, and as they do in construction, some did. It is always the mark of a great contractor if those problems are dealt with quickly and without increases in budget. I was thrilled that Tony and his team took them all in stride, stayed on budget and on time. Truly an amazing feat in a large construction project like ours was. Choose another builder because these guys are the worst,,,First of all these pools are not cheap, over $100,000 cost for our pool. Once the pool was built I noticed right away that the waterfall was not descending even like it was suppose to. I called and asked if they can properly repair that correctly. Jeffrey arrived and just started sticking a saw blade in there and said it's fixed right in front of me but it wasn't, I told him it is not, and then he said it was not their fault and it was the pavers fault and that I should contact them,,,??? What?!!! I paid Swan Pools over $100 Grand and they are telling me to call the pavers... Also the tile work was not impressive at all, looked like an amateur job. To this date they have given me the run around and have not fixed this problem. This company's motto is, "Once we have our money from you, your on your own". read more

Run away as fast as you can!!! Swan pools did my pool 10 years ago and we hadn't had any problems so we decided to hire them to redo our pool and add a jacuzzi. We started with them early March. It is now end of September and at this rate the house is going to be done before the pool!!! Their tile selection is terrible, their tile installers are not professionals. After requesting multiple times someone fix the tile after 3 weeks, I still have this... They have promised me multiple times for a rough timeline, yet 6 months in I still do not have one. Additionally there is no point in hiring them because they just outsource all the work to a mason and contractor. It's almost impossible to get a call back, let alone get ahold of them when you call. Although in the beginning they seemed more available. Highly suggest looking around before hiring them. read more

Okay, I have to deduct a star from my previous review because I called Swan pools almost three weeks ago to set up a design for our new pool at our new home site. Mike was going to contact the city of Menlo Park to find out how far we need to be from power lines and heritage trees but never got back to us even though I emailed him two times asking him for information.
