I always go just for a spray tan every now and then, I noticed that they will tell you the options start at $50 and above for one spray tan, but its really an upsell package that includes product. Its absolutely still an option to just get the bare bones spray tan for $37.00 but you have to repeatedly ask the rep over and over again for the price of a tan only. I've learned you have to say a "walk in tan" otherwise you will be purchasing the same products over and over again! Once I caught on I told the rep that was dishonest and she agreed and said they are forced to sell spray tans this way. This business appears to be violating state law while taking advantage of its customers. I recently renewed my membership, which means I would receive the same services I was given in my prior membership. One of those services was free one time eye wear for those who forgot. I was never told that eye ware was required, and I was given these stickers multiple times. After I renewed this contract, I was asked, for the first time, to verify that I brought eye ware with me. I forgot the eye ware and did not have my wallet. They denied me service. This is a breach of our contract. Today, I went in to make sure I understood the policy. I was asked for my eye ware and forced to buy eye ware from the business even though they had free eye ware right there in their file. This is also a breach of our agreement. I have been to this place dozens of times. I was asked for eye ware twice. If it is a state law that the customer wears eye ware, this company is routinely in violation, and it is putting its employees in a risky situation as they are the ones who are not verifying whether someone brought eye ware. I have never seen another customer asked for eye ware, and I can't imagine how many customers have used the tanning beds without eye ware due to these repeated violations. This is a very serious safety issue. This is also a money grab. The company could easily provide free stickers, as eye ware, which they agreed to do with me. They refuse to do so, insisting on payment. This is like McDonalds requiring you to buy silverware when they have plastic forks available, and it is insulting. Requiring someone to purchase a product that has been provided for free to a loyal customer as a condition of service is a breach of our agreement and, possibly, an unfair trade practice. This company has five days to return my money for this membership or I will take legal action, including referrals to appropriate regular authorities. This business needs to take a close look in the mirror. read more

I signed up for about 5 tans looking to get a base. I asked the mgr for the best deal for me for that. He told the employee waiting on me there was a sale. Free tanning for the rest of February and then $40 for 1 month. I received a $70 bill for March and then got a bill on my CC for $40. When I complained the district MGr was very rude and said that's what was on my contract. I don't recall getting a copy and digitally signed for it. The Mgr said that it was a rolling monthly charge of $40 a month. Told her it was obvious that I didn't want prolonged tanning. Very very rude MGr I couldn't get a word in. I have had so many unpleasant experiences at this location. No towels, machines not working or even on. They changed the settings on the spray tanning machine so I wasn't getting what I prepaid for. I rarely write reviews. I started just going for one unlimited month and its now 11 months later! The Management and Staff are fantastic! Professional, clean and organized. Bulbs are replaced when needed and its great to be greeted by first name regardless of who is working. Im a stickler when it comes to sanitization and I have not been disappointed in this regard! Employees are obviously trained with high expectations to deliver all of this because regardless of who is in charge that day everything runs smoothly. Great Job read more

If I ever go before 5pm I just know to expect a wait that is 20 minutes or more before I'm even greeted or addressed (and currently there are 5 people waiting in line behind me, practically out the door) even though I check in online far ahead of time. I understand if I have to wait for the beds to be open, but to even be greeted?! Come on.. Even after being a member with the most expensive package possible. Any time after 5pm the staff is wonderful, very pleasant, gets me in and out in a very timely fashion. But if all the employees were as slow as Breanna I'd definitely be taking my business elsewhere. read more

After reading prior review I have to say it's true in that workers assume you know everything about tanning. I had to ask to be shown the room. I was asked what kind of spray tan I want but no education on what the options were is there (how about something printed and something on the screen?). The second visit the little washcloth for drying yourself was used as I ascertained by the crumpled appearance and confirmed by touching it (wet!). I didn't like that the worker would not take my coupon for a free tan either, saying it was expired. I didn't see a date anywhere on it. So that was another $24. So be cautious if you're attempting a promo. I regret falling for the "sale ends tomorrow" line in buying expensive tanning lotion. I should have pushed to find out what it for but the environment is not helpful. You're asking questions and there is a line because there is one worker so I just assumed it's a necessity and paid. I truly cannot imagine how to have a WORSE customer experience than I have had at this place! a loyal customer for a year, I cancelled because of a medical reason and continue to get billed. I called every month and said the issue and they always said a manager would call me back and never did. After 8 months I went in and refused to leave until my account was cancelled. A manager called me, promised me refunds and free tanning when I am ready to come back. That was in February and it is not July and I received nothing and when I called on three separate occasions no one had answers. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM. The employees at this location are incredibly rude. During my past visit I watched them turn their backs and talk badly about one of my friends simply because she made a last minute change to her tanning reservation. It was so blatant and obvious it was appalling. While the location is nice the staff is HORRIBLE. And I am not the only one who thinks this. I have talked to multiple people about this location and they all say they avoid this location whenever possible. If you can go to east Towne it's worth it for the service. read more

I have been spray tanning at this location near West Towne for the last two summers, and have never had anything but a positive experience. Let me clarify...I have spray tanned at other tanning chains prior to going to Sun Tan City. Let me share with you what a truly bad spray tan experience can be: 1) they run out of tanning spray but no one realizes it until you're standing naked in the machine; 2) you are spray tanned IN HALF. Yes, right side tanned, left side white, and 3) staff continually pressure you to buy one of their package plans or become a member, and if you don't, they totally ignore you. Not once have I had anything close to this happening to me at this location, and what I described above happened to me at 3 different tanning salons in Denver. Now, no one at this location has ever instructed me on how to spray tan, but a quick check on YouTube shows the process of how to use a VersaSpa spray tanning booth. There are also very large instructional posters on two walls within each of the tanning booths that show you what to do. I really like that the machine has a large display that shows you what the staff programmed in for you. So, if you asked for a light tan, and the display shows the person programmed in dark, you can pick up the phone in the room and call the front desk. They have regular promotions that you get via email, which have always worked for me. This summer alone I've had .99 cent spray tans, half priced spray tans, and two free spray tans with their promotions. No one ever pressures me to buy a package, however, the staff have sometimes forgotten to mention a package that would be beneficial. For instance, if you spray tan once, I believe it is $24.99. But they have a 3 tan package for $49.99, which is obviously a better deal. The staff typically won't mention that deal unless you ask about it. I see on some of the other STC locations reviewed on Yelp that theft of credit card information has been an issue. Again, this has not been an issue ever for me at this location. In fact, on my second visit here, I took off and left my wedding ring in the tanning room. I didn't realize it until I got home. I called in a panic and fortunately, not only had one of the staff found my ring, but they put it in their safe until I could pick it up the next day. This is a good quality tanning location. It's clean, and I have never found the staff to be anything but friendly. read more

I've had a sunless tanning package at this location for a year and I've consistently run into the same problems. I understand that malfunctioning machines are beyond the control of the staff, and there have been a number of issues recently (spray not coming out; machine stopping in middle of session, etc), but what really bothers me is the rooms are often not fully stocked. At least 50% of the time, the room is missing towels, napkins, wet ones, or barrier cream. I've mentioned this a few times to staff, yet it continues to happen. How difficult can it be to ensure the rooms are stocked? It's irritating to be undressed and then realize the barrier cream is empty. My experience today with the assistant manager is the reason I'm going to cancel my membership. Not only did the machine die in the middle of my session, there were no towels or napkins in my room. Stepping out of the machine, there was nothing dry to wipe off with. I told the assistant manager about my frustrations and she said she couldn't credit me a session because I'm on a monthly membership. When I replied that she could credit me with a couple of the sticky feet stickers, she said she would talk to her district manager to see what she could do. Seriously? Not only did she not apologize but she has to ask her district manager to give away some $2 stickers? I've been paying about $60 per month for a year now and I've not ever asked for a discount or freebie. I can understand the above situation happening with a junior employee; the fact that this person is management yet she was unable to resolve a basic complaint speaks volumes about the lack of care and training at this location. If you're in the market for a sunless tanning membership, I recommend you go elsewhere. read more

Never again. My friend and I went this past week to get spray tans for a friends wedding and we both ended up with our left ankles being EXTREMELY darker than our right in the EXACT same spot. We both used the same spray tan booth so it wasn't "user error". I called today to talk with a manager/ have them make the situation right and was basically told it was my fault.
