But Dr. Kaveh blew my mind today. I was in a bike accident a few days ago and smashed up my face pretty badly (in the hospital for a couple of days). He and his team saw me as soon as I got out, and they were so much gentler than the dentist at the hospital as they inspected and did X-rays. They also set me up with an oral surgeon. THEN Dr. Kaveh met me at the oral surgeon's office to make sure everything went smoothly, and I'm so glad he did because although the surgeon did a good job, he didn't know me and wasn't as good at answering my questions as Dr. Kaveh was. ALSO Dr. Kaveh then met me back at home and helped me get my retainer in, which I was scared to do and it did hurt going in but it has made my mouth feel so much better since. Every office visit has been smooth, friendly, efficient, clean, high tech, and helpful but this was seriously beyond 5 stars. Cannot recommend enough!!!

This was surprising since my dental health had historically been great, so I planned to get a second opinion. The office tried to schedule a follow-up appointment less than two weeks later, placing immediate pressure on me to commit. Throughout my visit, I was repeatedly offered unnecessary whitening services in a manner that would be shaming or mortifying for many patients. I declined all of this flagrant and pushy upselling. I got a second and third opinion from excellent dentists who disagreed with Dr. Ducommun's assessment and were concerned by the aggressiveness of the recommendation. However, subjectivity in dental philosophy and salesmanship wasn't the most notable negative part of this visit. Dr. Ducommun asked me a series of invasive questions about the social and power dynamics of my parents' relationship. There was no context for it. It was an extremely uncomfortable and inappropriate line of questioning. I left the office shaking. This was one of my most stressful interactions in a medical setting and I finally decided to leave feedback on this topic after the review sitting as a draft for a couple years. I strongly recommend recurring, trauma-informed trainings for the entire staff, both the care and admin teams, alongside cultural sensitivity trainings. One compliment for No Fear: I cannot emphasize enough how great the hygienist was. It has been a few years since this visit, but he was gentle, patient, and truly kind.

After my first appointment though, I am (mostly) not dreading my follow up appointment! The building itself is straight out of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, very comfortable and clean with obvious aesthetic appeal that made me look at my own home decor in envy. They have a very comfortable waiting room with some fun things for anyone who might have some nervous kids - or adults who are kids at heart. The staff was very easy to talk to and professional. They answered my laundry list of questions, some of which probably toed the line on what is and what is not their actual responsibility. Special thanks to Sky who helped me feel calm and at home as we watched a cooking show on the tv above the patient chair (nice!). Lastly, the complete transparency during checkout was really a huge selling point. They showed me a complete breakdown for my follow up appointment so that I could make adjustments as needed and avoid any awkward sticker shock conversations. Thankfully, my insurance covered most of my appointments, but I know that is not always the case for everyone; the transparency during scheduling is telling of their business model! I am a bit concerned about their prices, they charge $49 for the fluoride treatment, every other dentist I've been to across the three states I've received care in has charged $19. The fluoride was the same, the price was $30 more which does worry me about what their prices are like outside of what is covered by insurance. When I brought up this huge discrepancy, other dentist in the area and asked why there was a difference. They were unable to fluoride treatments cost more here. When I asked about booking my next cleaning, I was told they didn't have availability until way later in the year and that I would need to call back to get an appointment so I could use my two free cleanings per year. The staff was great, my main concern is price gouging especially when the services are the same.

Not only did she check her location's schedule, but she offered to look into openings at other First Choice offices to make sure both my wife and I could get in for cleanings. The dental hygienist Will is friendly and professional, and Dr. White is attentive when reviewing my teeth and X-rays. Parking is also easy--there's a small lot, but I've never had trouble finding a spot.
