What can you say to an endodontist that actually cares about saving your tooth and then goes through the extra effort to successfully do it? Thank you, thank you, thank you! A previous endodontist took expensive x-rays and spent 5 minutes with me to tell me the roots were calcified and the tooth would have to come out. I asked if there were any other options and he said no. I left the office in tears. When my dentist got the report, she said go to Dr. Simpson for a second opinion since he is really good and he might be able to help. I was skeptical, but hey, my tooth and I agreed it was worth a try especially since I was impressed with the doctor's credentials and how he keeps his training current and is in step with the latest technology. For example, calcified roots do not always mean the tooth has to be extracted as it depends on the situation and having an endodontist willing and able to take on the challenge with precision tools, sharp mind, steady hands, and patience. Dr. Simpson is obviously up to the task! From the first call to the office, to the consultation, to the procedure itself, and all the insurance filing, everything was done with the highest degree of professionalism and care. The office staff is superior, following up phone calls, answering questions, and assuring you that you will be in good hands. I get the impression that they and the dental assistants enjoy working with each other and aren't replaced regularly like in so many offices these days. This adds to a sense of stability and security that you are indeed dealing with professionals. The office itself helps calm you with subdued lighting, soothing music, and a big screen television playing peaceful nature scenes. Want to wash your hands and tidy up without going into the bathroom? There is a sink and mirror in a little vestibule for your convenience, but don't hesitate to use the bathroom if you want: it's spotless. Dr. Simpson answered every question I had and even prepared me for the possibility that I might need a second visit to complete the procedure because of the complexity, but it turned out I didn't. The day of the root canal, I was naturally nervous, but everyone was so calming and I was introduced to Tiffany the Tooth which cracked me up: she's a little foam tooth with a smiling face and you can hold her and squeeze her if you like to keep your hands busy while your perfectly numbed mouth is being worked on. I find it helps and it was thoughtful that they have her available. Dr. Simpson was so gentle and I appreciated the use of a bite block--little soft wedge to keep your mouth open so you don't have to do it on your own power. It was the right size too as I didn't have the usual achiness that comes with holding your mouth open for extended periods. Five star service with no hesitation. Thanks again Dr. Simpson! read more

I'm quite tardy in writing this review. I saw Dr Simpson back on 1/22/26 to have a root canal. If you're like me, I was dreading it especially since I deal with a rare form of daily migraines. From the moment I walked into his office I felt relaxed. Dr. Simpson introduced himself, and I found him to have an awesome bedside manner!! Plus he was SOOOO compassionate, knowledgeable, thorough & gentle! He gave me the perfect amount of novocaine too and as a result, it didn't feel any pain!! Do you have to get a root canal or have something equally fun done? If so look no further!!! Just went back yesterday. Turns out my facial pain wasn't completely resolved. Dr Simpson was as great as ever. He saw immediately what the problem was and treated my tooth in about one hour, even though it was a complicated root canal. I'm so thankful for what he did! Dr. Michael Simpson was fantastic with my root canal! I've had root canal's done before and they hurt but I never felt a thing with Dr. Simpson. I'm down here visiting family, and I needed a root canal. I was referred to Dr. Simpson by another amazing dentist, Dr. Orzobal. Dr. Simpson is hands-down amazing. I've heard only terrible things about root canals, and this could not be further from the truth with Sun West Endodontics and Dr. Simpson's team. Absolutely nothing was painful. You might experience some noises that are foreign and odd, but that really is it. I did not even feel any of the injections of Novacaine. As he needed to explore how deep a crack in my tooth was, I did feel...something. He asked due to my response, and then he proceeded to give me some super powerful, fast-effective Novacaine deeper in the tooth. He really knows what he is doing. You can just tell as he switches between instruments and flips the lenses on the microscope. Also, his assistant, Brittany, is super nice and friendly and only adds to the calming experience. Had a root canal. Have not had one in over 20 years. This dr. And his staff are top-notch. They are warm and welcoming as you walk in the front door. I wish I remembered he name of the medical assistant and the dental assistant because they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and answer questions. The dentist Dr. Simpson is knowledagle and super caring and dealing with an old infected root canal was not easy. He is a perfectionistic. YOU want this team! Trust me it will meet your highest expectations. Small side note even thoe lobby and restroom is warm, inviting and super clean. One more ..in the old days dentists would do root canals and it would hurt later at the injection site like they did not really know where to stick the needle. I have no pain today.
