Be very cautious with this business. I was denied dental care because I refuse to give them my medical history for a basic cleaning and was condensed to and then preached at by their receptionist for protecting my privacy rights under HIPAA and as an American Veteran. I was actually preached at by "a wife of a service member", who supposedly knows better than a 21 year Veteran. I was informed that they take a "whole health" approach to patients but let's be real. You are only able to perform oral health issues. I needed a cleaning and that is it. If a surgery was needed later than I could understand divulging more, but that was not the case. These actions are highly discriminating and you should be concerned about their ethics. read more

It was our first visit at this dentist for my mother and the lady at the front desk was extremely rude. Normally insurance coverage is verified prior to a visit, but they didn't verify anything prior to our appointment. The lady told us that she was not going to take the time to verify my mother's coverage because it would take her 2 hours of her time. She wanted my mom to see the dentist without knowing if any of the services would be covered or not which meant my mother would have unexpected out of pocket charges potentially. Very unprofessional attitude from this woman who is dealing with patients. We decided to leave and will not go back. read more

OMG. I have never been to a dentist that I look forward to going back. Dr J Is amazing. He had alot of work to do. In two hours, he took out my failed implant that couldn't be saved next to a broken molar. He cleaned it up and Prepared all for a bridge. Made my temporary bridge. NOT ONE OUNCE OF PAIN. This dentist Jason Melashenko must be a phenomenal dentist because he sure is a jerk! I think it's time for me to find a new place to go. If you have issues with someone in your mouth, I would not recommend this place. I had a crown completed here and as he was prepping my tooth for the crown, removing the old filling and tooth, I felt a piece of something hit the back of my throat. I got nervous and wanted to sit up. His response was, "well hopefully you didn't swallow that because it's gonna end up cutting up your esophagus." Then seem to have gotten mad and stormed off. I was confused and when he returned, stated he had to take a "phone call". If you don't care how you are treated and like being treated like an inconvenience, go here. This dental office is the best! We drive over 30 min to to get our dental care for our whole family taken care of by them. Kathy and all the hygienists are professional, helpful, and caring. Dr Mashni and Dr Melashenko and the amazing staff at SD&D treat me, my husband, my children, and my parents and we wouldn't go anywhere else! They have fixed so many dental issues that our family has come in with with ease. I would recommend them to anyone as I already do. BEST dental office I've EVER been to! From the front office staff, to the hygienists and dentists, these people are customer service experts. They never make you feel uncomfortable while exploring your mouth (as my past dentists have). Highly recommend going to Polli for a cleaning, she treats you so well and is always caring about your needs. I got a deep cleaning done and I have appointments lined up because they made going to the dentist a great experience. I used to be so avoidant because my old dentist was just blah. This is long overdue...I will attempt to be nothing but objective. Also, keep in mind I am a medical professional. I went to see Dr. Melashenko in June 2018 for a toothache. Was sent to an endodontist on 6/19 where treatment was indecisive. Back to Dr. Melashenko on 7/3 who offered to clean up the decay, under the crown, to save the tooth for a root canal. When cutting off the crown, I felt the saw blade cut into the tooth in front of the tooth being treated - he later denied, stating "I'm not that sloppy"! He said the tooth cracked while working on it, and proceeded to extract it. After extraction, he inserted two synthetic bone grafts, which would be needed for an implant, the future treatment of choice. He proceeds to start suturing it closed, observing "there's still some infection". Then he applies DermaBond (sterile super-glue. One NEVER closes an infected cavity!!!!! Poor medical practice!!! No prescription for antibiotics. Sent on my way with pre-printed post-op instructions, stating the sutures are absorbable. I'm not feeling well. The buccal (cheek) side gum is swollen, red and painful (guess why?). He seem me on 7/9/18. Removes the sutures stating that they've done their job! This leaves m with a gaping hole, that he tells me to flush out after every meal. He also scrapes the inside of the hole ("to make it bleed"), which was quite painful for more than "just a few more seconds". I'm given a prescription for Amoxicillin 250mg, and after I'm almost to the pharmacy, while sitting at a traffic light, I notice the wrong patient name on the prescription! Such attention to detail. Still not feeling great when I see him on 7/18, my regular 2 week follow-up appointment. His tech takes an x-ray. First words out of his mouth are: "well, let's remove those sutures"! Doesn't this dentist keep and/or read progress notes??? After I inform him that he already removed the ABSORBABLE sutures, he says "it will heal faster if I re-suture it...can I do that?" I'm ready for something good, and say "sure". He dabs local anesthetic on both sides of my gum and IMMEDIATELY starts injecting; and despite my complaints of pain, continues saying "just a few more seconds; almost done here"! I hadn't experienced painful dentistry in 50 years. Being in a hurry is no excuse for poor patient care. He stuck some gel foam in the gap to absorb blood/fluid and sutured it up. Then he made a comment about the fact that I kept the hole very clean, and suggested when I returned in two weeks, we should discuss a bridge (versus an implant) because of my good oral care, and because it would be cheaper and a lot faster in terms of finalizing my treatment. Previous to this, it had been all "implant" therapy!!!!! On my way out, I was charged for the bone grafts. Midwestern University's Faculty confirmed, that the bone grafts are no longer in place, as Dr. Melashenko knew, when he saw my x-ray on 7/18/18---and by visual inspection on that date. Which, is why the treatment plan changed - he was not looking out for my pocketbook! I paid for products I no longer had, and he didn't have the honesty to admit this. I was not sent an e-mail appointment confirmation notice like I had been previously, although I was phoned the day ahead to see if I was coming. I declined, feeling enough damage had been done. No one ever checked further on me about my sutures or future treatment. Dr. Melashenko lied by omission. He is unethical, uncaring - especially when in a hurry, and lacks integrity. Please consider this information carefully before choosing him as your dentist. I doubt that this is an isolated incident. read more

I had a bad experience with a dentist about 4 years ago they made me feel like crap that I didn't take care of my teeth like I should of when I was younger, so because of that I swore off all dentist. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. They were flexible, affordable, and accommodating. When I had a difficult time with my pain tolerance and anxiety, they gave me a ton of choices. I have my teeth cleaned 3 times per year because flossing is too hard for me. Kathy always does my cleanings. She is in her 30th year and is the best hygienist I have ever had. Now that my work is completed I need to update my review but how do you update "sheer awesomeness"? I have been very pleased with the work that was done by Dr. J and his great office staff. So pleased, in fact, that my wife and son now are getting all of their dental needs addressed with this group of professionals. My wife is terrified of dentists, but Dr. Jason put her at ease, addressed her needs and came up with a well thought out and affordable dental plan. My son had his teeth cleaned by Kathy and came out with a great smile. He also has a dental plan with this office. If your looking for Dental care then look no further. Very friendly and very professional staff...all of them. For starters I've never been given a tour of a Dental office, nice touch for sure. Another nice touch which I have not yet experienced is Wine in the waiting room (great idea!) I met with Dr. J for a consultation regarding the permanent replacement of my Partial for 2 missing teeth. He explained my options, had a quick informal look and gave me his recommendation which is exactly what I was hoping would happen. The staff broke down the costs to the penny and explained what my insurance would be contributing. I had my teeth prepped for a temporary bridge, which he made while I waited. Literally minutes, and it looked amazing! I was hoping I wouldn't walk out of there looking like Mr. Ed. He also extracted a tooth from my lower jaw (at my request) which was completely broken off. This tooth felt like it was fused to my shoulder blade I swear! Prior to him removing the tooth he showed me a cost breakdown for my responsibility while I was in the chair!
