Have been tubing here for YEARS. Love this place and how fast you go down. There are two separate parking lots so make sure to choose the one closer to the tubing area. We tube for hours whenever we go. There is a little rest/food area near the tubing area for when you need to warm up. A great way to enjoy the beauty of nature out in the winter. Tubing is fun! Your entrance will guarantee hours of fun. My husband and I went on a sunny Sunday and it felt like the perfect day to do it. It wasn't too cold, and being active definitely will kept us warm. I liked that there are plenty of lanes so it didn't feel crowded at all. The staff is very friendly, they will make you feel welcome. Tip: Sign your waiver in advance through the website. It will actually save you a lot of time! My husband & I went back before the end of the season and I took ski & snowboarding lessons. The beginners area had plenty of space that allowed me to feel comfortable. The staff is very friendly and the instructors are just fantastic! I truly feel like I accomplished a lot in each class. Sunburst Ski Hill - Fun times - Ski Resorts Near Me - Kewaskum, Wisconsin

Low cost skiing about 45 minutes away from Milwaukee. Food and drinks are very reasonably priced. If you are learning to ski, then this is the hill for you. They are only what feels like six runs without getting into the double black diamond or terrain parks. But the lift tickets are cheap, and the lines are short. The lodge I had a bar upstairs and "fast food" down stairs - fries, cheese curds, mozzarella sticks, pretzels bites, 12" pizzas, hot dogs, chili dogs, brats, Italian sandwich, fish fry and more. I was really impressed with the fish fry ($10) with two pieces of beer battered fish, half slice thick marble rye bread, cold slaw, and a small portion of fries. The bread was really good, and the breading on the fish was surprisingly delicious. Note, the fish was a little mushy, but the taste of the breading made up for it. Tappers upstairs are only $4. There is also snow tubing, but we were here just for skiing. There is a large gas fire at the base of the hill. Bathrooms are only on the second floor of the main lodge, as far as I can tell. COVID-19 - yeah, like reviews have said, there isn't much mask wearing going on. Just be aware if you are not comfortable with that, the. You may not want to eat/drink here. On the hill you will be find. Getting lift ticket and skis is a different story. To recap, not the best ski hill around, but how inexpensive and pretty decent tasting fast food and cheap drinks makes this a place to look into if you are a newer skier. read more

COVID-19 Precautions: Don't go here. Wearing of masks and social distancing are NOT enforced. Not outside while waiting in line for tickets, not while waiting for the magic carpet, and not indoor in the bathrooms. When I asked if they had limited capacity, the staff member on the phone just said they'd give out tickets as long as there were tubes. But then told me they never run out of tubes. This circular answer leads me to think that they have not implemented limited capacity as a COVID-19 precaution. STAFF: I called before our trip to determine tickets, busy time, etc. The staff was rude and offered little help. EXPERIENCE: They run this place with so much inefficiency. No reservations for tickets means at least an HOUR long wait in a line where distancing/masks are again not enforced. There is no rhyme or reason for what to do after you get your ticket. No method of distributing tubes--just pick up whatever is laying around. No direction as to what to do with your tube after you're finished. No semblance of staff cleaning the handles of the tubes before offering them to the public. The actual tubing was fun. There were many lanes and a short wait time once you actually get to the top. But you can get that at any other park. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and go elsewhere or save snow tubing for next season. read more

Took the family tubing and we had a blast. The hill was Nicely groomed. The check in lift ticked process is a bit of a mess. They could use some signage so the rest of us don't have to wait in several lines trying to figure out where to be. Once that headache was sorted out the rest was great. I dunno why there are so many negative reviews regarding staffs but i just went here yesterday and the staffs were all doing their job and weren't rude. They are helpful when you need their assistance since we're not ski experts. They have a lot of ski areas for small children, beginners, and, good skiers, and for experts. They have moving ropes, moving belts, and ski lifts to help you go up the hills. They even have a tiny moving belt for a tiny hill for toddler skiing. Lol. So cute. I told my adult friend that she can start learning there. They have a way bigger snow tubing area compared to Cascade. They have 2 moving belts in the snow tubing areas. They didn't run out of tickets at all which is a good thing. Their female restroom was clean. The customers are mindful about not dirtying them up which is good. They have warm food and beverages on the ski and snow tubing area. If i was only good at skiing, i will start going there all the time but since am from Chicago, i will for sure share this place to my friends. read more

I took my son snow tubing for the first time yesterday. We drove up from Chicago so around a 2 hour trip. We stayed over night previous to snow tubing in Jackson Wisconsin and had a great night swimming at local hotel. Ok so back to the snow tubing. First off we redeemed our online tube tickets at a kiosk and lady informed us tubing was at the lower side of the hill. Make sure you use restrooms as they are back up the road towards the kiosk as 2 hours can be awhile for some. Not problem for us. Before you enter tubing hill area you are handed a zip tie with youre snow ticket to be worn on you're jacket. This shows the staff you are in compliance with there rules and it has you're time window on it as well for the 2 hour session. Ok so here we go they do have snow carpet you ride up the hill with you're tube so that was cool. We noticed as we were moving up the snow belt lift that there was a accident and that the belt had stopped. Don't really know what happened but a child was walking across the snow lanes trying to relocate his fallen gear. As you approach the top of the lift you exit walk by a station with probably 4-5 staff members standing there really not doing much. Then you approach a little 10 foot area of snow that comes down they do have mats there for traction which is nice. This is where the safety aspect and employees should be working. You have maybe 15-20 lanes some have deep slush like midway down so patrons skip those lanes anyways. Ok so decide to go down. Rules are one person a tube and you can chain tubes together if you like. The first run we chained made it down as we were stepping out of our tubes my son was hit by another tube patron coming down our same lane to soon. He was crying shortly after as he is 7 years old. I said something to the lady staff who did not care less and just had a straight face. I do remember her name as well but anyways just not VERY SAFE! I checked my son we rested for a few minutes. We were here to have fun so continued to ride. Only the lift lady asked if he was ok as we rode the carpet back up. We finished our snow tubing no more issues was a little fun but not worth drive. Our experience it was pricey, way over rated for fun factor but was a new experience for my boy. Our best advice would be even if you practice safe precautions you never know who or what will follow after you. They do have a liability release form that they ask you to sign and you have the choice to not sign for $5 more. I suggest the latter at this point in time as some simple staffing at the top of the lane area would address this issue. We have had tons of fun in Wisconsin over the years at the water parks, campgrounds, etc. We hope and wish everyone else a safe and happy journeys. Not worth returning. read more

Came here to Ski and took the group ski lesson class. My instructor Joseph was the best! He was so patient and gave great feedback. I rented the ski equipment and the whole process was extremely easy. Also the lodge has a fully stocked bar, so if you need a little extra liquid courage, I recommend the spicy Bloody Mary. read more

If I could give it a zero I would. Their outdoor pay window was closed and we were required to go inside to pay. Staff member was wearing her mask below her nose. There were two entire families in the small space with zero masks. I waited outside due to being high risk. I asked the woman at the bottom of the tubing ramp if they could either open their outdoor pay window or require staff and clients to wear masks. She pointed to someone she said was the "manager" who was also heading to the top of the hill. I asked him the same question. Initially he said "there's nothing we can do" about people not wearing masks inside their building. We continued the conversation and he apologized for the "inconvenience," and when I pointed out it was more than an "inconvenience" he was sincerely apologetic. However he wasn't the manager, just the person in charge of the tube lifts. Before we took our first ride down, he came over to say that the manager would be waiting for us at the bottom. The man we spoke with was there but the manager wasn't so we took another trip down the slope. That time the manager was waiting for us. I have NO CLUE why he wanted to talk to us because he only made things worse. First he LIED and said they "can't" enforce mask wearing inside. When we called BS he said "we are choosing to let individuals decide." We said "so you are choosing to put customer's health at risk." He refused to own this fact. I said to either require staff and customers to wear masks while they're inside (a very small space) or open up the outdoor pay window. HE REFUSED TO RESPOND IN ANY WAY TO THIS OPTION. Simply opening up the outdoor pay window would have been EFFORTLESS. But he refused to even acknowledge that as an option and just stared at us. This is beyond unacceptable. Not only did he choose to put money over people's health and safety, he couldn't even do a very simple thing that would have required essentially NOTHING. He was being colossally and intentionally stubborn. Take a look at their website and what protocols they CLAIM to be following, which makes the manager lying to us about what they can't and "can't" do as a business even more ironic. I have now learned that there are many tubing options in the area for people such as myself (who don't have the health to ski due to a 25-year journey with chronic health challenges.) I have been given information on which locales are actually carrying out their business in a responsible manner. I will be making my choices accordingly. read more

Great little ski/board spot! Been here a few times already this month and haven't had a bad experience!! It's a lot nicer than other places I've visited in Wisconsin. $20-25 dollar lift tickets per person so the price is pretty reasonable! The bar inside is super cute and cozy with very friendly staff. Ski/board instructors are really cool and friendly! Masks aren't required while actually on the hill - but is nice to keep your face warm! But inside they are unless eating or drinking. Awesome! Me, my friends, and my family had a fantastic time tubing here! Lines were short and the staff were very helpful. We had no trouble accessing anything at all, everything was in a reachable place. They also have snacks for if you are hungry tubing, and water of course. The main check in area is always available (when you are there) and it is heated for if you want to warm up or need to change, Not too hot that you have to take off all of your gear, but warm enough that you aren't freezing the whole time. read more

Last weekend I went to sunburst for the first time with some friends. I've been skiing for quite a few years, but I was trying to help teach the others how to ski. As far as facilities and the slopes, you get what you pay for. Pretty decent skiing for the Midwest. The bunny hill is a giant tow rope, which really sucks in my opinion. Tow ropes are hard to manage especially if you're just learning to ski. I'd say the biggest downfall for Sunburst is the employees. No one was very friendly.... at all. Ski resorts are usually where people who are passionate about skiing work so I've always been met with great customer service. We ask a lift operator where we should go for the next step above the bunny hill and he had no clue. How do you not know the runs of a hill you work at?? He just told us about how he mastered the whole hill his first day, like cool dude you're literally no help. Would I go back? Probably not when I've heard little Switz is way better and not far away. read more

Cool little hill, but their COVID-19 protocols are non-existent. People are crammed into the lodge without masks. The ski rental area had employees with their noses out of masks. The lift operators either weren't wearing masks or had their noses out, making it completely ineffective. A very good hidden gem of a ski hill, this place often gets overshadowed by Little Switzerland and Wilmot. So lift lines never exceed more than a couple minutes, the runs are well groomed and entertaining. The hill has a very good ski school and rentals with the bunny hill also being expanded this year. The intermediate slopes are also good but this hill could have a few more advanced runs. The terrain park is small and has very advanced features, however if you are trying to hit a rail for the first time, this is not the place, there is no progression park which this place could really use. Besides the main hill, there is also a very large tubing area and a newly renovated lodge. Since this place is so small there is no lodging or ski in ski out accommodations. Luckily there is affordable lodging nearby so finding a place to stay shouldn't be too hard. Overall this place is a hidden gem of a ski hill, I am a season pass holder and go up here every weekend. I highly recommend this place for families or someone who is new to skiing, however if you are an advanced skier, you should go to Cascade or Devil's Head, they are bigger and have a lot more advanced runs. Also if you can't hit advanced rails, I would recommend Little Switzerland because they have an extensive progression park on the back of their hill. read more

I've been going here since I was a kid. Today we went tubing with our kids. I was a bit shocked that it was $69 for 2 adults and 2 little kids for 2 hours. After getting over the sticker shock we started tubing. I was surprised at how narrow the chutes have gotten in the tubing area. The used to be 30 feet wide now maybe 8 feet wide. Given how narrow the chutes are, the embankments are very steep. This wouldn't be a problem but the embankments are made of hardened snow. They have pockets that can easily catch your feet. This isn't too much of a problem when you're going backwards your legs just drag behind you, rubbing the walls. But going forward your feet catch in these pockets. This is rather dangerous. After a couple near misses I had one really catch my foot and sprain my ankle. Luckily that's all the worse it was. Afterwards I couldn't enjoy myself. All I could think of was not hurting myself. Then my 9 year old daughter hurt herself due to gaps in the embankments. Sadly this will be our last time. $70 for 4 runs down the hill, and we came home hurt. That's it for us. read more

I've been desperately looking for a reason to not hate winter. Skiing has been suggested to me as a potential reason more than once, but for one reason or another I'd never been able to go skiing before. As fate would have it, my boyfriend and one of his friends are going to Aspen next month and wanted to take a trip to a local hill before hitting the big mountains. My boyfriend has skied a few times in the past but wanted a refresher lesson and his friend, like me, had never skied before. I decided this was a perfect time to tag along and decide if skiing would redeem winter for me. Sunburst has a fantastic deal on Friday and Saturday nights were you can get a lift ticket, equipment rental and lesson for $40. This is available from 4 pm until 10 pm when the park closes. We opted to take advantage of this deal on a Saturday and set out for the approximately two and a half hour trip from Lakeview (with a stop at the Mars Cheese Castle along the way, of course.) We got to Sunburst right as a Living Social group of hundreds of people was arriving, so I think we probably experience a more crowded facility than is typical. We waiting in line to grab our boots and took them back to the benches to put them on (no one explained to us how to do this). The lockers were all full, so we had no choice but to leave our shoes on top of a bank of lockers and hope for the best. Then it was out to grab our skis (there was some confusion as to whether or not we needed poles). Admittedly, the equipment gathering step seemed a little chaotic, but I do think that was due to the influx of Living Social people. Fortunately it was all uphill from here. One of the Sunburst instructors grabbed us and put us into a lesson group. I admit I didn't expect much of the lessons - I thought it would be some cheap 30 minute intro and we'd be on our own, but the lessons were actually broken down into 6 stations, each led by a different instructor. Each station taught a skillset in progression of difficulty. I got stuck on turns (Station 4)...like, for hours. I just could not get it, but the instructors were great about keeping me calm and attempting to help me figure it out. As the day wore on, it was time for lessons to end. Despite this, one of the instructors took me over to the tow line area and kept working with me one on one. I would never have expected that level of individual attention with my super cheap package. The employees at Sunburst really do seem to love skiing and want you to have fun and learn. After some practice time on my own, I was exhausted and my shins were killing me so I decided to return my equipment (quick and problem free), reclaim my (fortunately non-stolen) shoes, and hit the bar. Sunburst has both an outdoor snack shop and an indoor restaurant/bar area. The bartenders were, like most other employees we encountered, ridiculously nice. After some much needed re-hydration, it was time to head for home. So, is this Aspen? No, of course not, it's Wisconsin...but I couldn't have asked for a friendlier, less intimidating introduction to skiing. Look for me on the slopes! Tubing is fun. The hills are not gigantic. They have magic carpets and it is kid friendly. The only complaint I have is that they charge full rate for toddlers as they do for adults. Kids should be discounted or free. Other than that, it's a nice little hill for family fun in Wisconsin. Don't expect Colorado mountains. read more

My boyfriend and I went tubing here this past weekend. After putting our belongings in my car, I proceeded to lock my keys in the car. Frustrated, I went to the ticket counter and the woman selling tickets could not have been more helpful. She called the maintenance people and then the sheriff when we didn't have a number for a locksmith. The sheriff came and took care of the situation. Within regards to the tubing, what fun! I loved the different lifts you could take up the hills. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The one thing that was hard was if people hadn't gotten out of the way and didn't listen to the staff, there was a chance you could run into people. The best secret we didn't know about until going there was the sleds that they had for the smaller hill. When we saw people going down the hill laughing and screaming we knew we had to try them. They were difficult to steer but we had a blast going down the hill. All in all its a great day trip from downtown Milwaukee. read more

Great Midwest ski area for its size. Fun area to ski/sknowboard close to home. The midwest ski areas are not as big as areas in the Rockies but imagine that, they are in the midwest and the glaciers created the terrain not tetoninc plate movement! They also have the best tubing in Wisconsin, lots of runs and plenty of runout. Avoid the weekend crowds right after a natural snowfall, they make their own snow and are typically open from mid December until the beginning of March. read more

I have never been skiing before so when I purchased a package to come to Sunburst with some friends I couldn't pass up the opportunity to at least learn how to ski and experience it. Since I have never been to any ski resort ever I did not have anything to compare this too. My package included ski rentals and boots and I had to rent out a helmet and getting the rentals was not too much of a hassle considering the amount of people the staff had to deal with. It was super helpful that they had somebody walking around showing newbies like me how to put on the ski boots. Since I was a newbie I took the basics class and they did it in three stages which I found helpful. The lessons seemed kinda fast but I was able to get enough information and experience from it to learn the basics of skiing. They started us out on a small hill and then built us up to bigger ones. The good news is I only fell one time! I was able to be good enough to be able to go down the medium hill so I was very proud of myself that I was able to do that. The resort has a cafeteria and bar and because this was a special day the place was swamped with people. The food was just your typical cafeteria style food nothing special but they did have a nice selection of beers on tap. Since we were a special party we had access at night to the tubing runs and I have to say that was the most fun I had at the resort. The tube runs were fast and long and they were saying you hit speeds of almost 45 mph and it felt like it. Overall I felt this was a good place to learn how to ski without any pressure from a resort filled with skiing pros. Since its not so far from Chicago this would be a nice weekend getaway to get some skiing or tubing in. read more

Don't go expecting Whistler/Colorado/Utah caliber skiing/boarding. However, you can expect clean and well maintained hills. It is quite small, probably one of the smallest places in the area. However, for anybody who lives in the Milwaukee area and north, it is a great option. There is a great tubing area. I've never done it, but it looks like a blast. And there are areas that cater to the snowboarders that want to do jumps and tricks. So, there is something for everybody. There are events during the summer as well, like mountain bike races and a motorcycle hillclimb. read more

I have a five year history with Sunburst and have watched their skiing program go downhill steadily as they fired all of instructors, changed up how they teach and lost any commitment to customer service. They used to be passionate about creating lifelong skiers, now they just want your money and will do anything to get it. It's obvious these changes have ruined a good experience since the number of children in their lessons is a fraction of what it used to be. This place does not deserve your business. The straw that broke the camels back is that an employee came out and completely humiliated my seven-year-old child in front of his entire class by telling him he was ruining the class for everyone and no one can learn to ski because of him. I realize he was tired and complaining the prior week, but to treat a seven-year-old like that is unforgivable. The other parents there just stared helplessly, slack-jawed, and approached me afterward to say they were absolutely appalled at the treatment that my child received at the hands of this horrible person. All of their best instructors work at Little Switzerland now after quitting in disgust at how Sunburst is run. It's a much better program, they are so kind and enthusiastic, go there. This hill is a complete joke. I went there with my wife, bothers and their significant others for the snow tubing. The staff was inattentive to put it nicely. Due to their lack of attention to what was going on they let a 12 or 13 year old boy walk across the bottom of the tubing area in the direct path of other tubers. The result was a bad crash. The mountain "ski patrol" was summoned to the scene and they were very unprofessional and clearly had no idea what they were doing. I should qualify that by saying 3 close relatives of mine are members of the National Ski Patrol and 2 others are volunteer EMS responders. I know what good quality, competent emergency care looks like and this was far from it. They had the injured boy up and moving around right after the crash and 20 minutes later decided to put him on a backboard. Whoops! Finally, they called for some professional help and an ambulance arrived. Ski and tube here at your own risk. If you have an accident and get hurt you are pretty much on your own. Their staff is careless and their ski patrol is neither part of the NSP or competent in any way. read more

We went there on a sunday just before noon for tubing. We had a great time, it wasn't too crowded and the slopes were very well maintained. We bought the two hour pass which is just enough time before it get's old. The only thing we really didn't like was the parking lot which was a swamp. Our shoes and pants were covered in wet dirt (as well as our car, inside and outside). That lot needs to get some pavement! read more
