As parents who still retain our parental rights, we attempted to participate appropriately in our child's care and treatment planning. However, communication with us as legal parents was refused even in a limited capacity allowed under Utah law. This made it extremely difficult to stay informed about our child's therapeutic progress. We were also informed that therapy sessions billed under our child's Medicaid coverage focused on concerns raised by the placement caregiver rather than our child's own treatment goals. Our child had expressed reunification as an important goal, yet that goal was not reflected in therapy direction. Parents should expect therapy providers working with minors to remain neutral, patient-centered, and willing to communicate appropriately with legal parents unless a court specifically restricts that involvement. That was not our experience. We are sharing this so other families understand the importance of asking how parental participation is handled when a child is in placement and receiving counseling services.

My son has been without his medication for two weeks and always an excuse for poor communication and poorly run organization. Even my pharmacy acknowledged zero response after several attempts. A provider leaves and makes promises to refill meds until they find a replacement with zero response and excuses from a receptionist that has no idea what is going on. Your child gets the whiplash from this poorly run behavioral institution! Any pediatrician can manage better than this place! What an embarrassment! Not even a real psychiatrist to manage things!

She (my friend) met with them only to be pressured to join their program and going so far as to convey she would never get better if she refused to join. Now, I know some programs are great in helping someone in need, however, everyone is different!! What works for one person may not work for another. My friend was very willing to work with a therapist with Pathways (that willingness is 1/2 the battle and should be seized upon!) but on her own terms...not in a program that was so extensive that she'd have to miss work. They did not seem to like that. I find that odd to say the least. My friend had lots of questions that were met with lots of words but none of which answered those questions. Vague answers are NOT a good sign of a counseling center you could trust. Transparency is crucial! Another concern...no follow-up. Promises of calling my friend were unmet. When she called them they said they had called and left a voicemail. She checked and saw no indication of a call from them. Despite this my friend tried again speaking with a representative at Pathways but again no help. I don't know if places such as Pathways Real Life Recovery are regulated. If they're not they certainly should be! Read past employee reviews on Indeed...kinda scary. As far as I'm concerned, they failed my dear friend. Glad they may have helped others but if I were you I'd investigate this place thoroughly before getting involved with them.

My son had a very strange reaction to the ketamine on his last appointment. It was just not set up like a professional clinic. Dr. Himstree, still, I liked and was very knowledgeable about what he was doing just the set up not good. We never went back until recently when I called inquiring to start my son back up again. Had several different calls over there in the last 3 days. Someone different every time. Deborah was the worst. Very rude, unprofessional and would constantly talk over you when you were in the middle of telling her some thing. This morning I asked a simple question, "do family members get a discount for having a family member as a vet?" She replied "are they the one coming in to the clinic?!" I told her no but I thought I was told the day before by someone else that a family member could get a discount if a close family member was a vet. She said "NOBODY TOLD YOU THAT!!" I snapped back that "someone certainly did, do you think I just pulled it our of thin air??" she said it again, said the same thing! This lady is off her rocker! I said "I have to go" in which SHE hung up on me. I have NEVER talked to anyone whose scheduling clients, (and mind you, for a type of treatment clinic like this is... people who are calling to get help with severe anxiety and depression etc; )are being treated this way??? I spoke with a woman with an accent as well a few days ago that took 5 tries to just get my email right. It was exhausting trying to even have a conversation with her. When I asked Michelle the NP about the urine testing that they do as we've never had to do that before and in calling around this is not some thing most of these clinics do unless during intake the doctor feels suspicious about the person and feels a need to. I spoke with 6 clinics today, highly rated that said that don't do this. I told her the clinic my daughter has been going to for a year has never done this. She said "aren't you worried!" NOPE! Michelle was very defensive right from the getgo, instead of asking questions and even trying to understand I'm not! as this is not normal practice. unless you have a druggy looking person walking through the door(you can usually tell, it's obvious). But that unprofessional comment back and rudeness of these people. I will NEVER EVER go back there. PLEASE LOOK AT THEIR REVIEWS. PEOPLE ARE SAYING THE SAME THING! The Deborah lady who is the receptionist is a real piece of work and needs to be gone. She is not helping this business. Thank God we saw who these people working there were for who they are. My son who was going to get treated was sitting by me when I was talking with Deborah and when I hung up said "it doesn't sound like a very nice place mom, I don't want to go and I'm not giving them a urine sample like I'm getting drug tested, this is weird". We are going to another clinic that is almost half the price!! And so kind and compassionate. I like Dr. Himstree and hope he can get this group figured out working there.
