In this day in age, I would think most people would think twice about tossing out a friend's private info to a business that you know nothing about . Perhaps over time that would be appropriate, but not simply to meet and greet. They rejected my application because I did not provide references and left a couple of other questions blank. I have no idea if they are a reliable shelter or not, or if their pets are healthy and a good investment for a family. After reading a few of the reviews below I suspect there are issues with those areas as well, but I have no personal knowledge of that. Everything in the store is made by someone in the program. That program supports people living with a disability. It's amazing! You can see where they do the sewing for all the toys and bandanas. They are also raising money to open a housing community for those with disabilities because it's often much more difficult for them to obtain and maintain housing. That part of the organization is called Belong KC and I bought myself a tshirt to support that effort! They also have a large selection of bandanas. The design that fits over the collar so it stays on! The treats are handmade and so cute as well! They have handmade toys for dogs and cats! I'm so glad I saw them while grabbing a coffee at 7 Brew and stopped in! What a wonderful organization to have in the community. I'll be going back for more! We were extremely disappointed with this animal shelter. It took an act of congress just to go see…read morethe animals and you couldn't really interact with them without signing your life away. Some of the folks there were helpful but others seemed like they didn't want you to be there. No help in the dog area at all. It's like you are at an outside mall that only allows window shopping. Not a friendly place that would make me want to adopt an animal. I do feel bad for the animals there. I'm hoping they pay more attention to them than the people coming into the shelter to adapt them.
