I moved to Delaware a little over a year ago and it took me forever to find a good nail place. One of my coworkers referred me to this salon and to go to Kevin. He has not disappointed me since the start of me first going there. He does an amazing job and takes his time and make sure that everything is perfect and the way that I like it before I leave the salon. Not to mention that my Nails last an extra week then they used to before having to get them refilled in. I live almost half hour away from the salon, but Kevin is the best by far from other places I've been to in Delaware. I definitely recommend coming to this salon. read more

Well this is a review based on my wife's experience this afternoon while she was getting her nails gone. My wife was getting her nails serviced when the lady next to her was very upset that the person that was doing her nails left her in the chair to smoke a cigarette, mind you that he was not finished and when she questioned him, he started to get a attitude, and when she asked what's with the attitude he jumped in her face and said " I DON'T HAVE NO ATTITUDE!!! So the lady left a came back with her husband and let's say things got pretty ugly.. This salon really treats African American customers like SH@T!!! I came in for a gel polish. I picked up a light color at the first time, which is too light on my hand. So I want to change a darker color that can cover my nails. The man who served me started to be unhappy and rude. He used his nails to sweep my nails' edges in order to hide the extra gel into my nails. And it hurts! And the nail clipper he used is unsealed, I suppose it can be used to everyone without disinfaction. read more

I've been going here for many many years and have always been so happy with the staff - Anna -Donna and sorry to see Annie leaving as she's moving. There's new owners now and things have gone downhill fast. They came in and cleaned and made 'the old new again' which is great -BUT- it was short lived!! I've been there when damage has been done to peoples nails by the owners and I've had my nails almost ruined by the owner several times. This is NOT the way to run a business. I've had to find another place to do my nails. I still go here for my toes -Anna is wonderful - don't settle for anyone else. The owner will request of you that you only pay cash, which you can refuse and pay with your card which is accepted at every other business within 1000 miles. My experience at this salon was horrible! I went in and requested a refill for my gel nails. While I'm not a nail technician, I have been coming to the salon long enough to know when someone has limited experience or has been poorly trained. I went to the other side to get a pedicure and while sitting there I quietly asked the gentleman if he could get someone to redo my nails and showed him my hands. My nails were uneven, and lumpy At this point another technician working nearby and the woman doing my nails began to converse. Unfortunately, I was not able to understand what was being said. There were several ladies around me that were enjoying the service that I myself was waiting for. However, once the technician started my pedicure, I noticed that I was not offered any specific services like the other customers sitting around me (i.e. spa Pedi, regular or deluxe), rather my feet were placed in cold water and only after I asked for the water to be adjusted did I begin to look more closely at my nails. I tried to get as comfortable as I could while they continued to make jokes about the poor service I received. In the end, the services provided for my feet and toenails came out fine. Shortly after my pedicure, I was approached by the woman who originally did my nails. She told me that I messed the polish up but she would repaint my nails. There was another customer sitting next to me, so I was mindful not to make her uncomfortable about the service she would soon receive. Instead, I just asked for another person. I showed the other technician my nails and explained that nails should not have bumps and gasps where polish should be. After going back and forth with three people, I was told the salon was "busy". I told them I would wait to get them fixed. The guy who did my pedicure returned and said he would fix my nails. During this process, the original nail technician returned again and grabbed my hands and said she would do it, I pulled my hands away and firmly told her to please stop grabbing me and someone else would fix my nails. While getting them done, I noticed the technicians in the salon continued to talk about me amongst themselves - pointing and making jokes. At this point, I'm now on the phone speaking with a friend and said to her that it would be nice if they spoke a language that I, the client, could understand while they are obviously talking about me. This would give me the opportunity to respond. I noticed that two of the technicians stopped working and pulled out towels around where I was sitting and gestured for another person to stand by the door (which seemed kind of strange since they just told me they were so busy). While still on the phone, I said "I guess they are worried about me being unhappy and think I'm about to run out without paying for service." I truly wish this review could come to an end but I have more to add. One of the guys folding a towel said something else to a much larger women in the salon and with that she replied, "please I got you" and they both proceeded to laugh. This technician sat down next to me and began folding towels. At this point, I'm clearly annoyed and turn to her and ask if she was now "a body guard for me." She then asked me if I was scared or felt threatened and I responded "not at all" and I expressed how poorly my nails looked and felt that they could have gone about this issue in a better way. I also stated that it was not appropriate to treat customers the way I had been treated nor was it appropriate to make clients feel uneasy by being spoke to and about in a language they do not understand. She responded that she didn't know what I was talking about and then stated she didn't speak the same language so she didn't know what they were saying. Immediately after, she said that they are talking about the best way to fix my nails and that they want nothing more than to make me happy. So my response alluded as to how it was possible for her to translate what was being said, if she herself said she could not understand or speak the same language? She could not respond to my point. In the end, my nails were fixed and I had my husband stop by to pay in CASH for the services received for that day, as I did not feel comfortable giving them my debit card. I also was sure to tip the guy that did my repaired nails and painted my toes. My advice for whomever is reading this......DO NOT go to SUNLIGHT SALON at 610 Plaza Drive. This was the most deplorable experience ever and what is worse...no one cares enough to fix the problem in the salon. All they care about is getting you in and out quickly and taking your money to move on to the next person. Additionally, a few things I noticed was that nothing was cleaned and/or sanitized after each client. Poor quality. I went in for a fill right before Christmas, and I understand with the holidays being so close the rush the nail techs could be in. I had what I think was the owner and he hurt me, barely filled my nails, got polish every where, and rushed me out so quickly. The day after I got them done a nail snapped in half. Great customer service. My mom got me a gift cert here that expired a year ago... I was a bit rude when explaining that they couldn't legally deny the value of the GC unless it was reported to the State escheat office or past 5 years. I might have mentioned reporting them and/or calling my attorney. I wasn't so nice about it... after an offer to give me a credit for 1/2 of the value, and then finally acquiescing to the full value (as they legally should), I was treated like any other customer--kindly, and with care and respect--very much to my surprise, hence my review here. I would not recommend purchasing a gift certificate, but I would recommend this business. I went to the salon for a pedicure and gel manicure. Arrived and asked for OPI gel, they told me OPI is not good for your nails and they do not carry it. I went ahead and picked a color from their selection. Only 3 days went by and the gel started lifting. I realized they don't carry OPI gel because it always lasts me at least 2 weeks. The generic gel they carry only lasts 3 days forcing you to return for another manicure. read more

I just went to this salon for the 4th time for a fill on my sculptured nails. The first two times were good. On the third visit, my nails looked good but the technician was incredibly dirty! My forth and final visit was horrible! I was moved numerous times and the technician that finally did my nails was very rude. After she did a step with each hand she would push my hand away. She pinched my fingers and used her fingernails to pick at my nails, Not only was it a painful experience but my nails look really bad!! They are all uneven, some are misshaped, crooked and two even have fill material off the nail bed pushing my skin! Definitely the worst experience I've ever had in a sail salon! read more
