It's appalling how lackluster and lackadaisical the staff is at this institution. The hierarchy of neglect doesn't discriminate, from the doctors to Cna's. If at all possible don't ever allow for your loved ones to take residency in this trash facility. It's an assembly line and nurses are shameless about their avoidance of bedside treatment of these patients. The air quality is horrible and they play games with incoming calls, leaving you on hold for upwards of 30 plus minutes. Therefore, you get frustrated and hang up smdh

She was prescribed Norco and Gabapentin to manage post-surgical pain, which left her in a weakened state, and she was discharged to a rehabilitation facility of our choosing. After touring several facilities from Providence's recommended list, we selected Beachside Post Acute. We chose Beachside because we needed a facility that specializes in both physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT). It's a cozy, thoughtfully designed property in a breezy part of Torrance, conveniently located near both Walgreens and CVS. The building appears to have been a converted motor lodge, with a single-level layout that wraps around a central outdoor courtyard. This design allows each room to have either a window or sliding glass door, providing natural light and fresh air--something we found especially valuable. The PT staff have access to a dedicated room with specialized equipment, and both the main corridor and courtyard are used for assisted therapy sessions. There's also a recreation room and dining area where patients can enjoy meals outside their rooms, offering a welcome change of scenery. The kitchen serves nutritious, genuinely tasty meals--I can personally attest to that. What truly sets Beachside apart is the staff. They are compassionate, attentive, and clearly take pride in their work. To those who may read this--Susan, Marisol, Julius, Eva, Kimberly, Bryan, Alyssa, and everyone else--thank you. You made a difficult experience far more manageable, and we are deeply grateful.

I chose this nursing home because it was near my mom, I wish I had chosen differently, and as much as I appreciated the little stuff they did for me..it was all about the money..and my cliset door fell off twice, second time almost sliced off one of my toes, I had to get 9 stitches in my toe, so as much as they say they are about keeping people safe there, people still fall out of bed and out of their wheelchairs, so I still need them to compensate me for this injury, that bothers me now everytime I walk..and for my laundry I lost, for losing my hearing, etc... the nurse got mad at me occassionally and talk to me like I'm a idiot, and I'm a eduacated woman, this place can cause you to go insane, if you're already insane when you arrive, I had to guard my mind like my life depended on it. But many of the people brought in have severe dementia or alzheimers .I walked into my room once and the person next to me was wearing one of my shirts, they did take it off her immediately...but it means that the nurses went and took it out of my closet. I was there for about 14 months and two weeks before I left they finally put a mirror up in the bathroom for me. And they also said they would put a lock on my closet door, which they never did. And I think some of the nurses have sticky fingers..it was a nightmare trying to heal my body from surgery and broken bones in this dump...and one time the housekeepers sprayed some sort of bug spray or something in my room, I had to jump out of the room and I gasped in the hallway in my wheelchair for 4 hours...this place actually made me sicker then I already was..I don't know why they have a five star rating...

If I ever had a concern or issue, the front office staff (Denise Ortega) and Debra (social worker) were very responsive and helpful; I have so much appreciation for them! The nurses tended to him on a regular basis by changing his sheets and cleaning his room, giving him sponge baths, changing his diapers, and changing his clothes that I left hanging in his closet. The nurses who had a positive impact on my father were Molina, Monse, Cristina, and a male nurse from Jordan who trimmed my dad's beard. When my dad was discharged, he missed them all so much! The nursing staff gave him medicine on time and Dr. Sharma did a good job of monitoring his symptoms and labs. My dad loves food and not once did he complain about their food, so that was telling for me! The cafeteria staff were always friendly. The physical and occupational therapists were friendly, supportive, and positive with my father; thank you, Claire, Araceli, and Carlos! They were very helpful to him gaining some of his strength back. They had a kitchen, bathroom, and a car in their PT/OT space that allowed my father to practice doing certain things when he returned home.

My father suffers from dementia/confusion following surgery and is considered a high fall risk. Shortly after arrival, we became extremely concerned about the level of supervision, responsiveness, and overall safety precautions in place for vulnerable patients. We had to request additional safety measures ourselves, including bed rails and a floor mattress, because we did not feel comfortable leaving him unattended overnight. I ultimately stayed overnight at the facility myself to help monitor his condition and ensure his safety. What made the situation even more concerning was learning about the facility's recent survey deficiencies while simultaneously witnessing several troubling issues firsthand. The overnight staffing situation appeared overwhelmed, and the environment did not feel appropriate for someone recovering from surgery with cognitive impairment and complex medical needs. Our family has since begun requesting a transfer to another facility because we no longer feel confident this is a safe or appropriate environment for his recovery. I understand healthcare workers are often under difficult conditions, and I appreciate the individual staff members who tried to help, but overall this experience has been heartbreaking and extremely stressful for our family during an already vulnerable time.

My father went to the hospital ER after becoming weak and having a seizure like experience. At 95, he had just become very weak and non-ambulatory. The hospital tests had shown that he needed attention that he could no longer receive at home with caregivers. He was transferred to Alamitos West. We found Alamitos West to exceed our expectations. The facility is kept clean and the staff is friendly, professional and very helpful. They treat dad with respect, monitor him for his medications and try to keep him comfortable. The nurses, assistants, and PT all have a hard job, but they have all been so kind and helpful. Communication about Dad's condition has been good during our visits and the team keeps us informed about his vitals, when meds are being administered and any new medications. The social workers and business office team were extremely valuable at answering our questions about insurance, discharge process, finances and options. They were all so helpful and genuinely caring as Dad was transferred from short term care to long term care. They definitely made the transition much less stressful and clear. We were genuinely afraid to leave her there alone and stayed every single day from 8am to 10pm just to make sure she was being cared for (which is not the point of nursing facilities). We all ended up getting covid and my mother was confirmed to have gotten a UTI. Nightmare experience here, hope to never return
