In January 2026, my 83-year-old mother underwent hip replacement surgery at Providence Little Company of Mary. The procedure itself was a success. She was prescribed Norco and Gabapentin to manage post-surgical pain, which left her in a weakened state, and she was discharged to a rehabilitation facility of our choosing. After touring several facilities from Providence's recommended list, we selected Beachside Post Acute. We chose Beachside because we needed a facility that specializes in both physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT). It's a cozy, thoughtfully designed property in a breezy part of Torrance, conveniently located near both Walgreens and CVS. The building appears to have been a converted motor lodge, with a single-level layout that wraps around a central outdoor courtyard. This design allows each room to have either a window or sliding glass door, providing natural light and fresh air--something we found especially valuable. The PT staff have access to a dedicated room with specialized equipment, and both the main corridor and courtyard are used for assisted therapy sessions. There's also a recreation room and dining area where patients can enjoy meals outside their rooms, offering a welcome change of scenery. The kitchen serves nutritious, genuinely tasty meals--I can personally attest to that. What truly sets Beachside apart is the staff. They are compassionate, attentive, and clearly take pride in their work. To those who may read this--Susan, Marisol, Julius, Eva, Kimberly, Bryan, Alyssa, and everyone else--thank you. First I need to tell you all that most of these places are pretty depressing. I had a family member here for a short term stay (just under 2 months). Their food is okay. The nursing staff is attentive - at least from what I can tell when I'm there. They have a activity room and a calendar of events is posted in the front by lobby. One poor thing about Beachside are returning calls they don't even if you get someone to take a message. Nobody seems knows how to use their voice mail. The best way to reach someone is to get them during business hours or show up on site. Don't expect a return call if you get routed to voice mail. read more

I am a Son to the most amazing Mom and unfortunately she wasn't able to go home after a hospital stay. I have lived in fear of the day this was going to happen because she can't walk or even sit in a wheelchair now. Beachside Post Acute had been an absolute savior to my family by giving her the love and care and understanding she needs. She has been in the care of Beachside for the last three weeks and I visit her everyday and I couldn't be any happier with the care she receives The staff has given me advice that I needed and support that I am very thankful to receive from Beachside I would like to that everyone for being there and being so understanding of my Moms needs Even the person that welcomes you in the front door to the people that keep her clean and safe thank you all for being there!!! read more

I was at Beachside a patient gave me shrimp with peanuts I got a severe allergy and basically have asthma I was doing instead of them rushing me to the hospital they gave me medication I could have died then I complained about no hot water and freezing cold and all they did was poor blankets on me which gave me the beginning of foot drop I wound up being rushed to the hospital with life threatening RSV they knowingly willingly as a result of my complaining put a woman to sit in front of me in a wheelchair and cough on me and put her in the next bag I was forced to call the paramedics what did you drag me out of the bed because of bed rails were broken and they couldn't undo them do not go here unless you can become very very ill or you might die I was very blessed by the grace of God that I'm calculation religious they refuse to call 911 my oxygen was barely at at 89 by the time paramedics arrived I can't breathe they refuse to move out the way at Beachside the bed rails are broken soles almost impossible to get me out of bed and actuality I almost died then they come running out and demand that the paramedics give him the oxygen tank before we can even get into the ambulance I won't get being rushed to little company and Mary Hospital once or I had a cute RS for me do the patient coughing on me I was diagnosed with RSV for them allowing the patient to repeatedly cough on me all do you retaliation for my following the complaint for ice cold water so then no heat I was at little company Mary and quarantine and isolation for one week I developed a heart problem because of each side I got pleurisy and I could not even lay down to sleep due to what Beachside yet I was forced to sleep sitting up and reclining bed do not go there that place is a Harvard turn off it almost killed me read more

Beachside Post Acute - Skilled Nursing Near Me - Torrance, California

In the late spring, my 75 year-old stepfather was in the hospital being treated for a number of serious health issues, including cancer that resulted in the need for care and rehabilitation. Subsequently, I conducted an extensive search of nursing/rehabilitation centers in the South Bay Area. Ultimately, I must have visited/toured at least a dozen facilities, including Beachside Post Acute. My initial telephone contact was made with Amanda, who took the time to listen and answer all of my questions. She was incredibly kind and compassionate. A few days later, my mother and I began visiting a number of facilities, including Beachside Post Acute. In-fact, Beachside happened to be the first facility that we visited as it was relatively close to where my mother and stepfather live. Upon our arrival during our unscheduled visit, we were met by Leslie, who was also incredibly warm, compassionate and professional. Our initial observations can only be described as impressive. Specifically, the facility was immaculate, bright and pretty cheerful. My past experience with nursing facilities were that they were dark and depressing. This is not the case with Beachside Post Acute. As we walked around, we noticed tons of staff everywhere! The staff included RN's, CNA's and physical /occupational therapists staff. Truthfully, it felt more like a hospital setting, without the noise and a much calmer environment. We were also able to meet with the head of Physical Therapy, who took the time to provide an overview of their physical therapy program, which seemed to be very extensive. Ultimately, we visited in-excess of 10 more facilities. However, we ended up choosing Beachside Post Acute as the "bar" for comparison. In our opinion, none of the facilities even came close to the level of kindness, compassion, cleanliness and professionalism that Beachside provided in our limited, but productive visit. It was a "no-brainer" that Beachside Post Acute was the perfect facility for our needs. Fortunately, we were able to get my stepfather out of the hospital and into Beachside. Amanda, was so incredibly helpful with the admitting process and acted as an advocate on our behalf with the hospital case manager. Essentially, she provided us with amazing concierge service and ultimately a seamless transition from the hospital to their facility. From the moment that my stepfather arrived, he was treated like a rockstar! Everyone from the RN's to housekeeping really helped ease all of our anxiety. Especially, my stepfather's. Upon reviewing my stepfather's medical history, Beachside's Director, Mary Jane (known as "MJ") hand selected a physician to oversee my stepfather's care as a result of his serious health conditions that she felt required closer attention. We only learned of this when we met Dr. Seraj, who explained that he was from out of the area, but asked to oversee our stepfather by MJ as a result of his health conditions. Like everyone else at Beachside, Dr. Seraj was incredible! He provided amazing care and treated my stepfather like he was is own parent. Our stepfather received consistent and 5 star care by everyone, including Rima, Rashada and the amazing physical therapy staff that went above and beyond to help my stepfather try to regain his strength and other abilities. Unfortunately, despite everyones efforts at Beachside, the cancer began to ravish my stepfather, which caused him to have to return to the hospital. Again, his return to the hospital was solely due to cancer complications. During the hospital stay, we received telephone calls from so many wonderful people at Beachside, who wanted to check up on my stepfather. They also offered us lots of compassion and offers of support. At one point, Mary Jane showed up at the hospital armed with hugs, support and even some chocolate as she know that my mom loved chocolate!! Again, MJ is the Director of Beachside, who took the time out of her busy schedule to visit us! We were so incredibly moved and appreciative. She could have simply called or even sent someone else, but she chose to personally visit with us to provide comfort and support. Sadly, a few days later, my stepfather passed away due to complications with his bout with cancer. Ironically, during my stepfather's hospital stay, he would often ask when he could go back to Beachside as he really liked the facility and everyone who cared for him. In closing, we highly recommended Beachside Post Acute as they provided 5 Star care and compassionate service that far exceeded any of our expectations. I highly recommend this facility to anyone in search of short/long term post acute care. My grandma was sent to this facility after surgery. I was pleased with the team at Beachside. The staff here is passionate and highly attentive.  Any concern I had regarding my grandma's care, it was addressed immediately. My grandma made significant progress thanks to the physical therapy department. I was at ease knowing she was in good hands with a team who truly cared about their patients. I would like to thank everyone at this facility for taking care of my grandfather during his recovery. As someone who works in healthcare, I am hesitant and protective of where my loved ones go. I was given a tour and was surprised at how clean the facility was. Walking through I felt safe to have my grandfather recover in this facility. During my visitations, I can see how eager he was to go to activities and go to physical therapy. My grandfather is a very guarded person and for me to see him interact with staff and other patients really warmed my heart and made me feel like he was in good hands. Great care by the hard working nursing staff and aides. They are patient, reassuring and kind. Two people who were outstanding,Miguel and Reinya. They were comforting and efficient. The facility was dirty and after my sister was there for 3 months the cleaning crew started deep cleaning. Allergies cleared up! The owners never called me when I left a message. Social Services works for the company and they are located in the facility. It's unfortunate that clothing is stolen. read more

It's a horrific place all DEI hires that barely speak English abuse patients and mostly party instead of taking care of their patients. They make fun of people with dementia . My medications weren't right for 10 days and I didn't have any medications at all for 3 days after I arrived I had a surgery and they only gave me Tylenol and my doctor had prescribed painkillers. I was a seizure patient as well and had no seizure meds which I have to take 2 times a day until 3 days had passed with me insisting to speak to the supervisor. There was violence and horrible things going on there especially with the late night shift. I had to help two different roommates with almost everything including their bathroom toilet needs. The only saving grace was the physical therapy department and a special CNA Miguel who did a lot for me but he wasn't there everyday. I became an advocate for my roommates and their families thanked me and we keep in touch. I did complain to supervisors and the administration and one person was fired and another put on notice and wasn't allowed in my room. I recommend never go there or put a loved one in that place. Currently I'm staying here to rehab from back surgery and a broken upper arm, and I'm truly disgusted that they don't have ice packs here? The food is awful here , I've even met with dieticians but the still bring me gross food, feel like I got lucky in morning if they bring me a box of cereal almond milk and yogurt...but most the food I can't eat...but a little bit of it is good, I've ordered so premier protein shake that I love so at least I'm getting enough protein to try to heal my broken arm..and I don't feel like I'm getting enough PT or OC therapy but then again I've only been here for 4 days....they wouldn't let me go to lunch with my mom and sister for mother's day saying I needed a letter from the doctor, but then said my insurance wouldn't allow it...and I ordered a alternative meal here today, two hours early which someone said you needed to do so I called for my nurse, she came in and said it's way to early to order a grilled cheese sandwich, so when lunch came I took lid off of tray and there was no grilled cheese sandwich...breakfast was at least half hour late today , my morning meds two hours late.. they put three people in one room...which my roommates are nice, but there are people moaning and groaning or yelling in the hallways...and I'm hoping that they will schedule a ride for me to my doctor's appointment...well will see come Monday....the nurses for the most part are doing their jobs...today was so weird since everything was so late....I'll update this post later...feel like some chocolate but the vending machine on back patio isn't accepting my money... read more

Moving my family member here long term was not an easy decision. Touring facilities in the South Bay and came to the consensus that this place was by far better than the other places we have toured. Initially we picked the place due to its cleanliness. But I will say I am glad that not only is this facility clean, but the staff has gone above and beyond to make sure my loved one in law feels comfortable. My grandma has been here for a few months now. I am surprised at the fact that she has transitioned so well. I have visited her during her physical therapy sessions, and that department is making progress with her. I have talked to some of the staff in the rehab department and the way they have tailored and customized her therapy makes me believe they really do care about her as a patient. She is complaining less of pain and doesn't use her cane as much anymore. Another thing I am pleased with is, my grandma is a picky eater, and she has not once complained about the food. 10/10 care + staff :) read more

I have experience with these places, having taken care of several relatives over the years. None of them are great. A friend has ended up here and I recently visited. You can get a feel by just looking at the exterior to start. The facility is old and the parking lot is tired and uncared for, clue? There is no evidence they encourage visitors. My friend has only one thing to help them get through the day, the TV. This joint uses a digital antenna! That is so last century! Are they just ignorant or cheap? I vote for cheap. They basically farm the elderly and thrive on Medicare an Medical payments. Every dime saved is extra profit. Our government cannot take care of the homeless problems, so attention to these "holding tanks" is nil. In fairness, these guys are not the exception, but more pretty much in line with many similar places in the area and most likely the state. And the name slays me, Beachside, yeah right. read more

All staff was Introduced. She knows all the residents by their names. I have been to. A lot more beautiful facilities but I liked this one because the admissions person took the time to explain about. What insurances do they take while I was talking to Monica tons of residents and tons of staff come to seek her help she is quick on her feet and goes beyond the comfort of the facility. She is by far the nicest most hard-working person I had ever met. I have seen her move beds to help make beds . the most approachable person on her team. They have an outstanding administrator who is on the floor talking to staff and residents. Was also. Very welcoming, I like that. They're close to Torrance memorial hospital. Our 88 y.o. mother has been at Beachside for over nearly five years. She has a lot of care needs with multiple and sometimes conflicting meds. The new management weathered their transition well while remodeling the interior of the building and cleaning up old bookkeeping. I can truly say that if she were left in her apartment rather than in the care she receives at Beachside she couldn't have lived as long as she has. Her general health is now better than on her own and she has social interaction as much as she likes. The lockdown for Covid has been handled as well as I could imagine via FaceTime and telephone with as much actual visitation mixed in as regulations have allowed. Her complaints have been small relative to the level of care she receives that my wife and I are incapable of duplicating. In my case it's only temporary. I'm a visual person so I needed to see the place. I got additional information from a helpful young lady by the name of Amanda. Whatever you do... DO NOT leave your loved one at this facility! My mother was there for 3 months and her health declined very rapidly. Mom caught covid in the facility and I was unable to visit for 3 weeks. Once allowed back in to visit, mom had lost 15 lbs and had a large bed sore that was size of a silver dollar. They lost her glasses and another patient was wearing her clothes. Dont get me wrong there were a few nurses (Valerie, Elizabeth and head nurse Norma) that tried their best to take care of her BUT when they were not there she suffered. I made it a point to visit on a daily basis to make sure my mother was clean, dry and fed. The night staff is the worst! Oh, did I forget to mention that they billed medicare, blueshield/blue cross and charged me personally $8500 for my Moms stay. I'm currently in the process of trying to get refunded, however dealing with Rebecca in the business office is a full time job. Blueshield/Blue Cross representatives are now assisting me in trying to get the refund but they cant believe how rude and disrespectful Rebecca's attitude is. If you want to get back at your worst enemy then admit them into this facility! My mom is in a private home now and is thriving! Although she's still unable to walk, I'm so grateful that shes starting to feed herself again and recognizes her family and friends. read more
