Be cautious if you're considering this school in 2024. There is a lot of change underway, and the…read morecommunity and town are at odds on how to move forward. Until recently, the school board had been mostly liberal and very welcoming of all sorts of kids and families. After all, 80% of this school is transfers (216 students and 2.9 million of the overall budget.) Only 20% (55 students and $700k of the budget) are from within the local area. The most recent board has a conservative majority and they are being influenced by and consulting the Moms For Liberty and other far right groups with religious undertones. It is making for a very tense situation. The board has started taking issue with the number of "outsiders" in the school (aka 80% of their budget and current community). They are starting to run a "back to basics" focus. In Feb 2024, the principal of 16 years has retired (the board made it clear they were after her job). In the most recent board meeting, right leaning towns folk started bad mouthing and name calling teachers. A board member accused an IT person at the school of doctoring videos and running "a cover up." Needless to say, this mess is taking more energy and attention than needed for a school (at least for the adults involved). With the principal leaving, it would be reasonable to think some teachers will leave and some of the "outsiders" will find another place with less drama. And, there's a recall going on. So before signing up do some research and google Sunol Glen School Board.

I use the word 'community' above because that is what it is. This school is K-8 and has a total student body of about 300. That is very rare for a public school and that is why many who attend the school say that it feels like a charter or private school. Now that said, I don't think you should expect it to cater to everyone's needs. While I don't know the details I think that's why some people who have had very specific requests or needs for their students felt like they were not met. At the end of the day this is a public school with programming and support for most, not all. For our family, we have been more than satisfied with our experience here. The teachers and staff truly care. We feel like they go above and beyond in not only providing a great academic experience for our kids, but also a nurturing one. The Community Club (PTA) Is active and does a lot for the school. Like any other school, volunteering and donations are critical. At the end of the day, you GET what you PUT into the school. The principal truly cares. She pours her heart and soul into the school and it shows. She also greets every child at drop off in the morning - honestly who does that nowadays? I remember witnessing that the first day we arrived at the school and that was eight years ago. She continues to do this and I think it's one example of what makes her and the school special. Other things that make the school charming: * There is a garden, and students learn a bit about how to properly grow plants and vegetables. The garden is named after a special student whose soul and legacy lives on * There's a nearby park where parents sometimes gather to have coffee and snacks on important school days. It's a nice way to meet others and have a chat * The playground is top notch. Mr Hoxie and the facilities team do amazing work to make sure that the facilities and amenities are updated and fun for the kids * The winter concert is adorable. The music director works so hard to prepare the kids and they always do a fantastic job. Because our school is small it feels so intimate, supportive, and encouraging.

He is happy - and as parents that's honestly all that matters. All the teacher and staff are compassionate and loving. The first things that made me drawn to this facility was the huge play area. Outdoor time is very much needed and a part of the curriculum and we appreciate that a lot. My experience had been great so far and I recommend this place.

One thing I really appreciate is their Montessori teaching approach. Instead of just traditional instruction, the children are encouraged to explore, discover, and learn at their own pace. I love seeing my daughter become more curious and independent through hands-on learning and exploration. The bilingual environment is also wonderful, and the teachers communicate well with parents. My daughter enjoys going to school every day, and we're grateful to have found such a positive learning environment.

To preface, my oldest child attended from March 2020-August 2023 and my younger child from August 2023-August 2024. A lot changed over these four years, and all of the concerns below were raised directly with Lily (the director). Pros: * Friendly, caring teachers * Native Mandarin-speaking teachers who led daily Chinese circle time (~30 minutes of songs) * My children learned new songs and motor skills during their time there Cons: * Poor communication: Aside from a once-a-month newsletter, parents received little direct communication. Most updates came from the parent group chat. I suggested hiring an admin, but this was not addressed. * Leadership issues: Lily struggles with management and operations. At times, she appeared overwhelmed and allowed parents to take the lead. I also personally witnessed her berating a teacher over a minor mistake. * High teacher turnover: Most teachers leave within 1-2 years. While common in early education, the constant turnover was disruptive. * Lack of transparency: Parents are given little to no information about teachers' educational backgrounds. When we first joined, a teacher with expertise in child behavior was invaluable, but she left. * Potty training mishandling: When my younger daughter was potty training, the staff often let her soil her pants rather than guiding her to the toilet. Lily frequently insisted that we put her back into diapers and claimed she was not developmentally ready, yet that same day she successfully pooped in the toilet at home. After we informed Lily of our plan to unenroll, it felt like staff stopped supporting her potty training progress and, more concerningly, that Lily stopped caring about our child's development because we were no longer going to be financially supporting her business. * Cleanliness and hygiene: Soap dispensers were frequently empty or diluted (I documented this with photos/videos). When I brought this up to Lily, she claims that it is foaming soap. I use foaming soap at home and know that is not it. While this improved in our final weeks, the issue persisted for a long time. My younger daughter was sick every couple of weeks and contracted HFMD twice within months. I believe this was due to poor hygiene practices, though Lily denied the school's role. After she transitioned to her new school, she stopped getting sick every two weeks and thrived in her potty training journey, which confirmed for us that the issues were specific to LEP. Some time has passed since my children attended, so I truly hope conditions have improved for the sake of the teachers, children, and families.

I was willing to travel far because I couldn't find any preschool nearby with such a high quality childcare. Teachers at MMH were professional and caring. My son was not the easiest kid at his previous preschool. As a matter of fact, I had to transfer him out because the teachers were complaining and his behavior was getting worse. Thank goodness, I found MMH. They had very low teacher and student ratio, which gave each kid the attention and care they needed. Ms. Rushi, the current director at Mowry location, was my son's teacher. She spent so much one on one time with him. She was patient and encouraging. After only a month, I saw the transformation in my son. My son was lucky to join MMH shortly after it opened, but they kept their quality throughout. When my daughter was old enough, she also went to MMH and loved it. Both of my kids stayed there until they went to elementary school. To this day, they are now 3rd and 5th graders, they still remember their teachers and want to visit them from time to time. I highly recommend MMH for any parent who's looking for a great preschool. This new location is awesome. It's in the center of Fremont, plenty of parking and bigger facility.

One of the things we appreciate most is how much effort she puts into teaching and celebrating different festivals with the kids, while also exposing them to different cultures, ethnicities, and geography in such a thoughtful way. We have seen so much positive growth in our son since he started here.
