Officially exceeded my expectations for cleanliness and general upkeep. Wish they ran a lil more frequently than once an hour but as a first time rider I can't really complain about that. It was a fun family day downtown. read more

First time taking the SunRail from the Maitland station . It's very clean but kind of spooky at night if you're alone or with kids. The southbound side has woods and a neighborhood behind it as well as an apartment complex that shares the main parking area. Sitting with my back towards the woods with the kids was a little uneasy as no one was there until about 10-15 mins before the train when I saw an employee area across the track. We love taking the SunRail to visit family and friends as well as just for something to do after school. Adult tickets round trip are only $5.50 and kids under 7 ride free ( what a great deal )! We normally take the SunRail from the winter park location where we literally know all the staff lol as we've been taking it for over a year ! I will definitely stick with the WP location although this station is the same distance from us because they are busier and have a restroom near by with vending machines. This location did not have any amenities, BUT I did see the Lynx shuttle which is a perk for anyone needing to utilize a ride from the station. Now we just need the SunRail to run on weekends !!!! First time riding the sun rail! I love taking trains and trams when I travel abroad, so tiding the local station was a no-brainer! I was in the area of the Altamonte station and decided to take it to Church Street for the Solar Bears game the night I went. The train is comfortable and has a good amount of seating. There are attendants on the train to keep everyone safe and to check tickets. The ride is a bit shifty and bumpy (compared to European counterparts), but it got the job done! Definitely beats being stuck in traffic and finding parking Downtown! I can see using the SunRail again! It's sad they don't offer rides o. The weekends though. read more

Did you know kids under 6 ride the sunrail for free? My son loves riding the Sunrail so we usually begin at the Altamonte location and ride down to Winter Park. We go on Friday evenings because the train only runs on weekdays. Parking is plentiful and there and it's very easy to follow the instructions to purchase tickets. There is usually a staff member there to help you if you need any help. The only thing that I wish this station has is bathrooms but maybe that is wishful thinking for the future. The sunrail trains themselves do have bathrooms inside. Hope they expand the Sunrail someday as we would love to take it directly to the airport! The SunRail Altamonte Springs station is conveniently located on Ronald Reagan Boulevard and East Altamonte Drive, also known as 436. SunRail has been here in the Orlando, Florida area since 2014 and I am honestly surprised that it had never become more popular. Maybe it is just something that Floridians are not used to. I grew up in New Jersey and I grew up with trains. We would often take a train to New York City and we were there in a quick amount of time and got to hang out in the city for a day or we would go to concerts or whatever. SunRail is a great opportunity to take a more relaxed way to some of the neighborhoods in and around Orlando. read more

I'm a big Sunrail supporter. I've even taken Sunrail/bus to go to MCO, that's how dedicated I am. And while Longwood is my home station, this one sometimes makes more sense depending on where I'm coming from or where I'm going after, as well as the traffic pattern associated with the time of day. So, say I'm leaving to go to the library downtown at 3 in the afternoon, and I need to be at the Altamonte Springs Seasons 52 after at 7, it makes a lot more sense for me to drive to this station at 3 when there's no traffic, than for me to park at Longwood, and fight traffic to go to Altamonte Springs on my return. The one disadvantage it has in that compare: Longwood has covered parking! Take away one star please. read more

I don't know that it's really fair to rate something only a few days running, but until they work out all the kinks, I suggest riding for leisure and not to get anywhere by a certain time. Trains were running 10-30 mins late today and some who rode yesterday said they were backed up as much as an hour. It was a super crowded ride in the morning, going northbound from Sandlake; we were packed in and most had to stand. The afternoon southbound train leaving Altamonte was a much less crowded ride, with only few standing in our car. The Sunrail is smaller than I anticipated but the cars are nice and have good air conditioning, especially with all those riding. I don't have much use for Sunrail with the dedtinations offered, but would ride again for leisure....in a few months. read more

Oh god, I'm yelping to maintain my composure right now. I would love for this train to work, however seems the only way it will, for my purposes at least, is if I have someone waiting for me at the other end, or if my final destination is within walking distance. I'm riding a lynx bus currently and waiting while the driver takes a break. Perhaps if there were better connectors it might work, but when I finally do get back to the station, in have to wait at least another 1 1/2 hours before I can catch train to my car. I want to support sunrail, but only see it being useful when going downtown, which unfortunately would take place on the weekends. . .when it is not in service. Do we really want this train to succeed or not? read more

I understand that this is the first week of sunrail....but this is a complete and unmitigated disaster. Traveling from Altamonte to Winter Park - Train was late and full. We were able to get on following train...an hour later. Traveling back from Winter Park to Altamonte on 2:11 train - Train was an hour late. Sunrail staff were passing out schedules (why - when the trains weren't even close to being on schedule). Staff kept saying "15 minutes" until train would arrive. That train was full, but we were told a second train was right behind it. The two staff people disappeared and then showed up after news crews left and told us there was no train right behind it, and stated next one was the 4:40 train...and it would likely be full. Ended up having to get a nice friend to drive us back to the station in Altamonte. What an embarrassment for Orlando's commuter rail!! Everyone riding that day was extremely unhappy and everyone I've talked to who has had any experience on the train this week had a poor experience. read more

I love trains. I have games about them, books about them, movies and even have one for under the xmas tree, however I am disappointed in this Sunrail. I was against the Sunrail being put in the location it is because it only benefits a few people. Sure, it functions, LATE, and the cost IS NOT A SAVINGS. However, it is new so I'm giving it three stars. We took the train from Altamonte Springs to the Women's Health station. Then on the way back we stopped at Winter Park. The ticket costs in the afternoon were OK but I certainly wasn't saving any money. I had to drive from West Longwood to Altamonte Springs which took me 20 minutes and around $3 in gas. Along with the tickets it cost me $9. Then 30 minutes more for the train waiting, and waiting, and waiting then finally YES! riding. The train was very clean, it should be it is new. The conductor was nice and friend, also the people at the station assisting new people were nice too. A+ to them for helping us newbies out. Did I say the train was late? Oh yeah, every trip we took it was late. In Europe this would never work. Trains run exactly on time. EXACTLY. They don't care if you are only 5 seconds late, "ALLLLL ABOARD!" then poof they leave you behind. Also the train stations/stops are in horrible locations. Who the heck thought of putting the Maitland stop there north of Lake Lilly? In an industrial area? Really? I've ridden trains and trams all over the world. Peru, China, Canada all of which were better than the Sunrail. However there is a gleam of light at the end of this tunnel. This train does work for some people. It does help, but they need to do more. I would suggest any one should ride it once. Just to see what it is like. However it has no purpose for me. It doesn't save me time. Ample parking, convenient location, clean and well marked. This was our first time riding Sunrail and it was very simple and easy. Purchase tickets at the kiosk and swipe them before, and after, you board. The only problem I see with this station is walking from this spot along busy 436. There isn't a ton of stuff within a short walk and things like the mall or hospital are fairly far so may require a bus ride. The train itself was only 2 minutes late and you can easily check its status from their website on your phone. read more
