I've been seeking massage services on an as-needed basis for years around the TC metro, there are simply none like him. He's flexible with scheduling, punctual (he does home visits), and very knowledgeable. Even after our session he coached me on how to take care of my body. You can be a little sore the day after, but that's normal when you're working on knots and problem areas. FYI, deep tissue massage means that there will be some level of pain during the session, but Jeff is very skilled at listening to you and your body - it's a good kind of pain and it's tolerable - I still managed to fall asleep. I went in and the woman was sitting at the front and appeared surprised I came in. She instantly stood and brought me to a room right next to the front door. She put me in the room and asked if it was okay, and told me to get ready and she'd be back before leaving. There was no sheet to cover myself up, and i asked for one before being providing it. I began to look for a spot to put my bag and noticed a sewing machine at the base of where my feet would go. Overall this felt like they were very unprepared for me. There was a curtain for the door allowing me to hear every word of a customer who was getting ready to leave as well as the woman at the front desk. I decided from here I'd be leaving as I did not feel safe or as if i would be able to properly unwind or relax. I would highly recommend that consideration for safety, and relaxation is considered by the business as clients are coming here to unwind and this would likely not feel safe for most women. If someone came into this business the room they put me in would be easily accessible or viewable. I just imagine with the location of this room that it would potentially be thought of as a bathroom. Maybe someone else's experience would be better but I would not return here as I need to not worry about my safety when going to get a massage.

But at the end of this session, I informed her that I prefer to not communicate during a massage. Thinking that I would be listened to, I then booked two appointments online. The next one I wanted to leave within the first 15 minutes of arriving. She did not listen to my request to not have ongoing communication during the session. But that wasn't the main reason I wanted to leave. The first 15 minutes of the session she asked me what worked and didn't work for the last session, I told her places on my body that I did not want touched. I felt like I was being argued with for the next 15 minutes as to why she felt the need to touch me in those areas. Then at the end of the session when I was tired, and just wanted to go home, she spent another 10 minutes trying to show me in a book why she felt the need for these areas to be addressed. I already said no. But I'm not listened to. My other massage therapist was wonderful and listened to me and never touched those areas. Unfortunately she's too far away For me to continue to see and so that's why I thought I would give Lauren a chance. During the session she kept bringing up reasons why she felt the need to go in those areas. I also felt like I was being talked down to about why she felt the need to work on those areas even though I said no. I am BIPOC and some of the things she was doing were not culturally sensitive. I understand as a white practitioner she may not understand these issues, so I spent part of that time explaining it to her. I was still not listened to and she insisted continuing to do these things. I wanted to leave the session, but I had already paid, so I stayed. I left that session, feeling frustrated, angry, and demeaned. I went online to cancel my next appointment and she sent me a text back saying that she would not refund my money. Adding insult to injury. I didn't want my money to fully go to waste, so I sent a Caucasian coworker to use my remaining session. She, too, felt that the session was more chatty than she likes. She, too, will not be returning. Rarely would I write a bad review. But this one had me so upset I just had to. There's so many massage therapists in the city. I wouldn't recommend going to this one.

I made an appointment for 4:30. Since I hadn't been seen before, I was 5 minutes early. The office seemed a single business suite and, not wanting to interrupt anyone, I waited until a 1-2 minutes before my appointment to call. When I called, I was asked to wait in a janky suite with a sofa down the hall while they finished their current appointment. Fair enough. I waited there until 4:45. When I called back, I was told there was now a new customer that had materialized and was asked if I would like to make an appointment. I was very excited to find a massage place nearby. However, there is no reason to believe appointments will be honored. I'd like to think this is unusual, but I don't really have a good reason to gamble my time here again.

She uses perfect pressure and pays attention to the spots that need extra attention without feeling tickled or painful.
