I reached out for a quote on getting three 12'x12' bedrooms painted and I got an email back the same day to schedule an on site quote. The visit for the quote was quick and they got the quote back to me very soon after that. The price quoted was more than fair. Very easy process to schedule the painting and I found them to be very responsive. They did a FANTASTIC job painting the three bedrooms. The two men who came to paint were extremely kind, respectful, and hard working. They took every precaution to ensure that there wouldn't be a mess. Lots of plastic and butcher paper taped down. All hardware and edges were taped thoroughly. All aspects of the job were well thought out and done with intention. The job took two days, just as was planned, and the three rooms look perfect. Sunrise Custom Painting painted the exterior of my partner's home. The home had been stripped of its lead based paint by another contractor. The basic original paint job by Sunrise looked good. However, IT DID NOT LAST, and Sunrise refused to remedy the problem they handled incompetently. The problem with their work developed only a couple of months after their "warranty" lapsed. There were a significant number of vent holes that had been placed in the thick, cedar siding for ventilation that needed to be patched. Sunrise put in expandable foam backing and then filled the holes with polyester "Bondo" to get a smooth surface. The repairs lasted a couple of months after their warranty end, when the "Bondo" broke loose and protruded on most of the "repairs". Sunrise refused to remedy their major mistake. I removed their inadequate "Bondo" surface plug and used construction adhesive to glue in tapered cedar plugs with the wood grain running parallel to the siding grain. The plugs were sanded smooth and I painted the entire board with the new plugs, using the left over paint from the original job. Today, more than 5 years later, my plugged holes can not be found. Beware, they do not stand behind their work, if you have a problem. Note, I was reminded of this sad story when I received an ad for their company in the mail today - - April 2023. read more

We hired Sunrise Custom Painting to prep and paint the exterior of our home. While their carpenter and painting crews were great--professional, excellent workmanship, very keen to hear about and address any issues with the project, I wish I could say the same about the owner, Salomon. Several issues with him caused me to give them only a two-star rating. These include: 1) Initially agreeing to a schedule that included getting the house prepped and primed in late fall and then waiting until spring (and better weather) to do the actual painting, only to have Salomon request our colors out of the blue--in January--because he wanted to start painting. He told me that the weather in February is better than in January, so it would be okay--what?! Against my better judgement and with my excitement to get the project done, I agreed. 2) When scraping the lead paint off the house, not having his crew follow basic lead-abatement guidelines--no wetting down, minimal draping/debris control. Paint chips everywhere. 3) Being forced to go back and pressure-wash the house after the prep (as stipulated in the contract). If I hadn't notice that they hadn't done it, they would not have done it--Salomon was clearly frustrated that I insisted that they do it and acted as though I was being unreasonable. I don't blame the crew for this--they aren't necessarily aware of what's in the contract; clearly they hadn't been instructed to do it 4) Insisting that spraying the paint on and then immediately back-brushing it constitutes two coats, while pretty much any 10-year-old can tell you that paint has to dry before you apply what could be called a second coat. If you go with Sunrise, take a close look at the contract: In the first section it describes spraying and back-brushing, while in the next section it says COATS - TWO (the two is even underlined). So while the number of "coats" seems clear, it is actually deceptive. Salomon would not go back and add the second coat when I brought up this issue. 5) Standing right next to me and denying that there was a problem with the paint because he had the crew paint when it was too cold/damp. The paint rep came over and told us that the chalky residue we kept finding was a surfactant in the paint that leaches out when the paint is applied in inappropriate conditions. Everyone could see the problem with their own eyes (including the crew), but Salomon told me that that's how all houses look. At that point I was saved by his crew, who were clearly embarrassed by his attitude and made sure we got the problem solved. 6) As the final insult, sending me the final invoice BEFORE we had discovered a solution and completed it (LOTS of rinsing). I'm giving two stars because the crew was outstanding, did fantastic work and worked hard to resolve all issues, including the major one with the paint, and ultimately we're pleased with the outcome. But all that problem-solving and customer-oriented attitude was from the crew. It was clear that Salomon didn't want to deal with any issues, large or small, and yet wanted to be paid RIGHT AWAY. Sunrise painters are more than capable of doing an excellent job--just be clear about the details (including what constitutes two coats) and pray that nothing goes wrong. Arranged for them to come look at my house painting project. Salomon Martinez came and did a walkthrough. Told me he'd send the estimate. After he left, I didn't hear from him for a month. I sent a follow up email. Didn't hear anything for weeks. I sent another follow up email. Finally I got a one line reply which was "sorry, we're too busy to take on your project." I find this hard to believe because otherwise they wouldn't be wasting their time scheduling and sending estimators out. If for whatever reason they didn't want to take on my project, that's their right, just tell me. But don't go unresponsive, string me along and then make something up... read more

We have a large 1912 home on Mt. Tabor that badly needed to be painted. We got bids from 4 different companies and ended up with a wide range of prices. We asked each for a list of homes they had painted so we could drive by them to see their finished work. Sunrise easily was the most impressive and surprisingly the least expensive. Once we decided they were the best option we struggled with what colors to use. Sunrise arranged a color consultant to help us and she was great. When we were ready to paint, they sent a two person crew that was was amazing!! Friendly, helpful and exceptionally tidy and considerate. They finished in two weeks time, which was amazing to us as our house is over 6,000 square feet and 3 stories high. We love the completed project and have had several neighbors stop by and say how great the paint job looks and how the appearance of the house really looks great.
