I wanted some new awnings before my paint job, and Dan hooked me up with one of his guys who created 3 beautiful awnings for me and fixed up some siding that had rotted before the rest of the painters came in. On a whim, I asked if Dan's crew could complete the external paint job in time for a big birthday party I was hosting and he managed to knock it out with time to spare WHILE HE WAS HAVING HEART SURGERY. I mean, if that's not above and beyond I really don't know what is. Response to Dan Muir Your foreman and I did a quick "walkthrough" while the crew was still finishing up. It wasn't until after they left that we saw where paint had been tracked through the house on the hardwood floors which your crew neglected to protect. Where there was overspray on furniture your crew neglected to cover. And other flaws such as wall paint on the ceiling of the master bedroom. It wasn't until after the crew left the job site that we were able to take the time necessary do a thorough walkthrough on our own that we discovered all the 'holidays' and areas not properly prepped, i.e. unfilled nail holes and unsanded and areas that were not painted at all such as edges of doors and casings. One of the closet doors was missing two to the three screws used to attach the hinges. You have been in this business for many years so certainly you know that it is not possible for customers to discover all of the flaws while the job is still ongoing during a rushed 10-minute walkthrough late in the day. A walkthrough should take place when enough time has passed so that the customer could properly assess the work, perhaps the next day after the job is finished. The reason we decided to take care of the problems we discovered ourselves was because of your defensive and dismissive responses during the follow-up calls. For example, when I mentioned that some of the casings and door edges were not painted, you responded by saying these were 'ghost' areas not usually painted. That is simply not the way a professional painting job is done. And you should know this having been in business for decades. I am soooo happy with this paint job! Dan was so communicative throughout the whole process, answering his phone the minute I called. Definitely not what I am used to from contractors. The paint job itself is amazing. We opted for black, a color that lets you see even the smallest imperfection. The crew was so thorough! We found absolutely no issue. We wanted the reiling to be left as is and were worried they wouldn't be able to tape it off perfectly, it's pretty intricate, but there was absolutely no reason to worry. The entire job was done in 2 days. It's not a small house. The bid itself was very competitive, there were no additional or hidden costs. Very straightforward. The cleanup was also great and they didn't trample the plants that are right by the house. Only a third of those made it through our last contracting job. I couldn't be more pleased! When I mentioned wanting to get our house painted, someone suggested that I look on the internet. That meant checking out "The Google" and wishing for the best. I filled out a form online that said I would get 3 bids. Dan Muir was the first to call me back. He came out and bid $2,200. That sounded reasonable so I signed the contract. I was told they were busy until the end of August/early Sept but their crew showed up last Friday and got everything taped up and the house sprayed before running off to help with an emergency. The very next day they were back to finish spraying and painting the trim. I was literally shocked by how fast they worked and what a great job they did. We recently had the exterior of our house painted by Dan and his crew. Our house is 3 levels with quite a bit of detail work, so we knew it wouldn't be an easy (or cheap) task. However, after getting several bids from reputable companies, Muir Painting came out to be the best/least expensive--at half the cost! Clearly, it was a no-brainer to go with Muir. Leading up to painting, Dan was very communicative and responsive, keeping us informed on the "game plan". Because our house is so big, he brought in a man-lift to do most of the work. The only hiccup in this scenario (if you consider it one) was scheduling. It was anticipated that the job would be finished in one day, but due to unexpected circumstances, it took 3 days to complete over a stretch of time (not a big deal). Though we encountered some road blocks along the way, Dan and his team did a superb job on our house. They were meticulous in caulking and painting every crack and corner of the house, and stayed each day until the job was finished. And yes, Dan (the owner) was on-site painting, too. No corners were cut here! Once the job was finished, We did a walk-through and handed Dan his check. I highly recommend Muir Painting for any exterior painting jobs. They are the only painters I could find that first completes a very thorough pressure wash, then applies 2 coats. Any professional will tell you that 2 thin coats is better than one thick. What an amazing company. My split level was in serious need. The quote was given and accepted. Pressure washing within days, paint crew arrived within a week. Prepped the bad stuff, caulked where needed. The crew was very, very nice and knew what they were doing and gladly repainted or touched up whatever I wanted. They masked off everything perfectly, and done the same day. They also subcontract a carpenter, if needed. Fast, efficient, reasonable too. After about 5 calls for directions because his GPS wasn't finding our address he showed up to do the estimate. My mother has little income. She was at the store and returned to find a man pressure washing the paint off her house. He was hired by her neighbors and was at the wrong house blowing paint off onto the ground. You refuse to repair the damage done to her home while she was at the store?! I will buy the paint. You need to correct the mistake your company made. You were rude to my mother, you refused to fix what you did and you put her in tears all day. She has glaucoma and that is not good for her eye pressure to be so upset. It was all unnecessary. I'd never ever hire you after hearing what kind of a man you are. Mistakes happen. We are working with police in regards to what this company has done to my grandma's house! My grandma went to the grocery store, only to come home to a truck backed into her driveway and a man pressure washing the paint off all three buildings she has on her property. She found that he had gone to the wrong house, even though her address is boldly visible on her mailbox beside the driveway. The kid who made the mistake apologized and moved to the neighbors who had hired them. For someone who has little income, repainting three entire buildings is overwhelming - especially if it was not planned. The owner came out the next day to look at the buildings with no sense of urgency. My grandma called me in tears; the man said there is no way their pressure washer did that, what do you want me to do about it. She told him our chickens cannot be let out until all the paint is removed from the yard since they would eat small pieces, he told her chickens don't eat paint and that didn't matter. The man offered to "buy a gallon of paint to slap on the spots showing wood but I'm not scraping it", he also would not repaint the entire side that was ruined since "there's just no way it will match." He mentioned that this wasn't the first time they had worked on the wrong house, and complained that he painted a whole house the wrong color one time and he had to go back and redo it. On his way out he said he could care less about a review, so here you are Dan. The neighbors who hired this man are appalled and are willing to acknowledge that the sides of the buildings were undamaged prior to the worker showing up. The water bill is also now an unexpected expense for her on top of the paint and supplies needed to finish this job that no one was prepared to begin. It is truly horrifying the absence of remorse this man had for what his worker had done, no matter if it was a mistake or not. read more

Dan and his crew did a great job on our house. Speaking with Dan before the job he said he would put an army of guys on the job to get it done fast. Sounded like hyperbole but I want to tell ya on the day of the job the guys just kept coming out of the woodwork. Ended up with 10 guys working on the job. They broke into different groups of prep staging, wrapping and taping, and painters. His foreman, Matt I think, did a great job if keeping them on task. It was about 80% done after the first day. Here was my favorite part. After the first day I walked around the house to check out the work. Found some minor things that can easily be missed and made a mental note to talk to Matt about it. Well the next day by the time they were finishing up they dedicated a guy to walk around the house with all the colors and touch up things he could see. So all the things I was going to tell them I had found had already been touched up. Awesome job guys! They finished up in 2 days as we were told and we are very happy with the results. Two weeks ago Dan Muir's crew finished painting the exterior of my house. The house was built in 1948. I don't know when it was previously painted. Let's say a long time ago. Before I bought the house. A lot of hand scraping and sanding was required. The crew arrived early on Thursday and finished Friday afternoon. The were courteous and professional. Hard workers. And they made certain to clean up when the job was done. They did a great job. Out of three bids, Dan's was in the middle. He responded promptly and made the entire process easy. Don't allow this company or Dan's son to paint the inside of your home using spray. Find an experienced inside painter who will do hand work only. Okay to use Muir Painting for exterior painting only, is my experience. Have used Muir for outside painting in the past and now used them recently for inside our home with disappointing results for interior work. Don't allow them to use "spray" inside a home. Sorry,but we made a mistake allowing inside work to be done with spray. Not "cut" well where ceiling meets walls. Lines not straight. Hit and miss every room. Not buying that it is because of "my walls" not being straight. Bull! Have had lots of interior wok done in the past so know what is okay and what is not. read more

We had our split-level ranch painted by Muir Painting in September of 2016. Dan Muir and his crew were just wonderful. Our project was delayed for several months due to an issue with an unrelated contractor, and Dan was very patient while we sorted everything out. About a week before the painting, a guy came by and powerwashed our house. He was very nice and answered all my questions. On the big day, the crew arrived on time (punctuality is a big deal for me) and ready to rock. There were probably 6-8 guys prepping the house (caulking, masking, removing stuff I missed, fixing loose nails, etc). By the end of the work day, they were almost done with entire house. The following morning, the crew was again right on time. After they finished up the remaining walls and trim, the lead painter walked me around the house to catch anything they might have missed. There were a few minor spots that were quickly adjusted. The whole process was painless and professional. In 10 years when I need to paint again, I'll definitely be calling Muir Painting. read more
