My last detox experience was at Sunrise a few years ago, and with their help, I'm proud to say I'm now clean and sober. The facility itself was excellent--clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The semi-private rooms, comfortable beds, and TVs with streaming apps made a big difference, as being as comfortable as possible during detox was really important to me. The staff were incredibly kind and supportive, the food was good, and I met with a clinician every day. They worked closely with both me and my family to create a treatment plan tailored specifically to my needs. Before I left, they also helped set me up with a strong aftercare plan, which provided the accountability and support I needed for long-term sobriety. I had been to several other treatment centers before--many of which were very expensive--but Sunrise was in-network with my insurance and was the best experience a had at a facility like this. I recently had a loved one receive care at this facility. I had release of information, so was able to be in contact with staff. The staff was responsive, caring, knowledgeable. My family member got needed documents for employer. Their further care was coordinated and accomplished. Really good work being done here. Total Scam... BEWARE Charged my insurance $6,800 for 48 hours for inpatient detox. Insurance paid $5300. And then sent me a bill seven months after my stay stating I owed $1500. I just now called and spoke to Mike who told me their inpatient services are $1,000 per day. I'll be filing a Better Business Bureau complaint and be requesting rehab facilities to not recommend these guys!!! read more

SCAM! Beware!! The staff could not find the grievance form for me and my husband to fill out. I was there less than 24 hours and I am traumatized and worse than when I came in. They were unable to medically help me. NP said so. I don't have an addiction or substance use disorder. I am withdrawing from a VERY short course of opiates that was medically indicated, used less than prescribed. I also have been keto and burning fat which was releasing toxins. We explained ALL this on the phone before coming in. I repeatedly said the same thing a dozen times. I needed help detoxing not getting an addiction under control. Second: my care was repeatedly delayed, I was not assessed nor was ever going to see a doctor. I was not taken seriously. Kept being told "maybe tomorrow" and that's absurd. Third: they drugged me up beyond comprehension. I repeatedly said I am sensitive to drugs and yet, what do they have for me? drugs. That's not what I needed. Fourth: I struggled to get my needs met, and had to ask for everything from towels to my clothes and toiletries. I was never given my devices (kindle, nintendo switch, massage gun) I was accidentally locked in the kitchen. I was repeatedly startled and yelled at causing multiple panic attacks. Fifth: I was denied access to call my husband they wouldn't let him speak to me. I finally convinced them to let me call so I could get him to take me home. Sixth: they are trading addictions from people's drug of choice to other drugs, nicotine, carbs, and sugar. Finally COURTNEY YELLED AT ME when I was leaving today. I told her to stop, to get away from me. She refused. Waved her hand in my face. This is unacceptable. What they are doing is negligent. FYI - Whatever paperwork I signed, I was not in my right mind. legally that isn't binding. Trust I will report to state agencies. read more

The staff are amazing! This facility saved my life. They were very attentive to my medical needs and comfort.

This place has left me way more traumatized than when I came in! They drug you up so much you don't even know what's going on. And if you do know what's going on don't say anything! I made a suggestion about the lack of creative outlets and lack of exercise/stretching and I was completely dismissed! Not only that the "director" heard me telling another patient about it and said "You're still talking about this?! We just went over this!" and slammed the door behind her. I came to her and told her that was very rude and dismissive. She told me "You said you were gonna sue us!" I said "This is why I didn't want to come here"(because of people dismissing and belittling my feelings) She said "I'm gonna call your mom!" I said "I didn't say I wanted to leave" She said "I don't care! I'm calling your mom!" My mother told me she called her and said I was "screaming at the staff and patients". Of course my mother didn't believe her and had some choice words for her(rightfully so). And the next day I wake up with my eye red and swollen; and they told me I had to stay in my room for TWO WHOLE DAYS by myself! I tried to go and get WATER and they sent me back to my room! I told them I'm not staying here by myself because isolation is what got me here in the first place! They said well do you want to go to the ER or Urgent Care? Like um duh?! They told me they had "everything set up and that the urgent care knew I was on the way". THAT WAS A COMPLETE AND UTTER LIE! They "accidentally" sent my info to the wrong location. Even if you "accidentally" sent it to another location it's still the same company my info could have easily been faxed/emailed over to the location I was at! I didn't have my ID, my phone, or a source of payment! There was also like a 2-3hr wait when I got there. So the woman at the urgent care suggested I go to the mall and find mall security. I HAD TO WALK 30 MINS TO THE MALL IN THE FREEZING COLD! WITH NO ID NO PHONE NOTHING! I NEARLY GOT HIT BY A CAR BECAUSE I WAS WITHDRAWING AND DIZZY. I found mall security but they couldn't get in touch with my mother OR sunrise detox. Mall security thankfully dropped me back off at urgent care. So about two hours later I went back to urgent care. And ended up missing my queue in line(which didn't matter because I still didn't have all my info) I asked the lady at urgent care if sunrise detox contacted her and she said they told her my mom is going to have to pay for the urgent care visit. So I had to go walk to best buy and I FINALLY got in contact w/ my mother! I got seen by them and they told me I had an ULCER ON MY LEFT EYE! This facility made me feel contagious and disgusting and it was an ULCER... Not pink eye! Not only that when they ordered me an uber back the uber pulled up to the mall I was at earlier and said "This is your stop right?"... Coincidence? I think not! Not only that after I got back the techs were incredibly snarky with me. One goes "Well how long were you at the mall for?" with a sarcastic tone. I said "It took about 30 mins to walk there and about 30 mins to find mall security." And the other tech goes in a condescending voice "Hmmm that's a lot of 30 mins" MIND YOU I HAD NO PHONE AND WAS WITHDRAWING AND DOPED UP ON ALL MEDS THEY GAVE ME SO I HAD NO CONCEPT OF TIME! The "techs" were literally mocking and shaming me after going through that traumatic ass experience! They acted like I went to the mall for a vacation! I even talked to the "consoler" and I said no one even checked up on me and she said "Actually we have to check on you every couple hours. It's protocol. We have to call and check on you every couple hours. And THEY said you left the facility" Like UM DUH I HAD TO BECAUSE YALL DIDNT GIVE THEM ANY OF MY INFO AND I DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING ON ME!!!! And then she goes "We don't HAVE to check up on YOU! We just need to check in with the nurses. So like I said THEY DID NOT CHECK UP ON ME! And if they did "check up on me every couple of hours" why was I there for so long?! The lady at the front desk at urgent care even asked me if "I did something to them" because she said "They send patients here all the time and they're never here for this long!" Needless to say I was at urgent care for FIVE HOURS by myself with nothing on my person! No food no water nothing! And mind you I was told that the "nutritionist" would make sure I ate my three meals a day as I am quite underweight. They did not do ANY of that! AND AFTER I GOT BACK THEY STRIPPED SEARCHED ME AND THE "NURSE" OPENED AND READ ONE OF MY PERSONAL LETTERS WHILE I WAS BUTT NAKED AND STARTED MAKING WEIRD FACES AT IT! I told another "nurse" about my experience and she said "Well it's just to see if you don't have a plan" A PLAN TO DO WHAT???!?! And they literally just replace one addiction with another! And the staff will literally gossip and spy on your private conversations! And they will insult you RIGHT TO YOUR FACE! THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY! The techs act like high school girls in a cliq. Literally insulting patients to their face. The cooks are great people tho. Unfortunately, you'd think ppl that work with addicts have compassion for them, but 90% of the nurses and techs could care less if we live or die. I came in and asked if my private room was ready while going through horrible withdrawals, the tech says to another tech "oh he thinks he's special" like no I'm just asking if the room I payed for is ready. Do not send anyone to Sunrise Detox and Alpharetta Georgia. They do not monitor their clients. They don't do what they say they're going to do. My daughter was there for five days. They let her have her phone in computer where she connected with drug dealers so that the minute she was out, she had drugs available. She never was able to do any sessions with me because they wouldn't let me talk to her. And they released her without calling me to pick her up. my daughter overdosed two days later and I believe they're partly to blame. Do not send your children or your loved one to Sunrise Detox. Shame on them for not living up to what they're supposed to do. Shame on them for releasing my daughter and not calling me, shame on them for not letting me speak to my daughter while she was there. This was an amazing place to deal with my detox. The staff was awesome & the place was omg amazing! Better than the recovery center I went to after this The rooms are amazing, having a tv & man the showers I would return here if I ever need to again & would recommend this place. The food is amazing & I absolute love the drinks/food/snacks are in a way left out. The outside smoking area is covered with a TV out there. It's nice to chill or smoke without getting wet or sunburnt. The downside: 1. I was told I'm allowed to have certain items to find out that I was highly misinformed & was irritated. 2. The games there some are missing pieces so it was hard to play with the other clients 3. Paying for the use of the phone. It was IMO priced to much to even make a phone call to update family or call your sponsor if you have one. I believe you should be able to even have a 5min phone call once a day. The recovery center I went to after this allowed that so it feels like you have some connection to family/friends. 4. THE WORST....I worked with them filing some paper work for my job & they never completed the process meaning I got screwed out my short term disability & FMLA with my job. read more

The staff for detox was good and caring. Issue is their billing. They called insurance company to verify benefits(insurance company makes notes of calls) But Sunrise orders labs out of network, does not tell their patients or let them make calls to verify. And now patient gets hit with full cost of lab work ordered by Sunrise and was not consulted about beforehand. Their billing dept. states to speak with Scotty B. Well after 2 weeks of calling they will avoid your calls. Detox is fine but check and verify Everything Else Yourself. Having been to detox previously, I have had experiences with quality facilities and this is not one. 1. The pharmacy "lost" my Lithium. First it was that they accidentally sent it home with another patient. Then the story changed a couple of times. They did not get my lithium, for bipolar disorder, for several days. One is not supposed to miss one day, much less several. I experienced disorientation, and despite my urging, did not call their pharmacy for days. 2. I witnessed first hand a pharmacy tech searching patients's medications when another was out of something. She would then give the patient who was lacking another person's meds. 3. Upon entering detox, techs are supposed to remove all products containing alcohol. My hair dryer and a couple of random things were taken, but I still had 2 perfumes and hair products with alcohol. 4. Don't try to leave even one day early. They will not allow you to. Not only did they refuse to give me wallet, IDs, money, etc., but they said they'd call the police. 5. I submitted my insurance information prior to arriving and upon arrival. Nevertheless, I was required to pay $4,000 for 5 days. When I tried to reach somebody about this, it was again several different stories. First, it was I hadn't submitted it. I had texts proving I did. The most galling one was that I hadn't paid for my insurance and it was inactive. I pay it through auto pay, and when I was to go to Sunrise, I checked my benefits. Basically, they lie, don't wish to be inconvenienced by patients, and violate the law in their meditation management. They don't meet professional standards by any stretch of the imagination. I would heartily recommend avoiding Sunrise at any cost. read more

While the tech staff is kind, flexible and energetic....the counselors and management lacks the ability to treat patients. The environment is clean and maid service is caring. The food is very much an issue. Some clients do not receive food as the food is given to staff. Treatment from the RN is often not followed by the counselors and nursing staff. Most people attend detox for the comfort of the medical aspect. Orders are often not followed.. There is a lack of treatment of the disease of addiction. Often times videos are played, AA meetings do not happen and meditation is no more than listening to an online recording. I would not send my love one to this center. There are much better options like Mt. Sinai. read more

"Detox with dignity"? Not sure when that whole dignity thing comes into play- definitely NOT while your naked, squatting and coughing (even as an adult voluntarily walking in? Oh, for sure, so be ready). Absolutely nothing could be further from the truth, Sunrise Detox doors should be closed, permanently. While most of the techs are kind & the food is wonderful (A++ to the chef), the "detox & recovery" end of this disgraceful hellhole is utterly SICKENING. The "counselors" are a JOKE- if you don't play as their sheep & fly across the country to one of the rehabs, where they get their kickbacks, your useless & treated as a criminal. I understand at the end of the day, this is a business BUT to be ridiculed and then told- Well, your just not going to make it and that's just the facts- is appalling. BUT my MAIN concern & why I'm writing this review to WARN as many people as possible, is the fact that Sunrise does NOT uphold any HIPPA rules or regulations. NONE. So, very soon, management (never seen anyone on their website the entire stay, I'm sure those cronies live wherever all that money comes in at, possibly at some of those rehabs that are shoved down your throat) and that disgusting "counselor" Jan, who wore NO clothing while she pretended to work, will be in a world of trouble. They gave my information out DAILY to whoever called, then took it upon herself to call someone who was NOT even my emergency contact & give them FALSE information regarding me as a patient- all while calling me a lier. Until the person on the phone corrected her absurd behavior, she wouldn't even pull my paperwork up! Once that gross "lady" FINALLY did the correct thing and hit a few buttons on her computer- I could see her entire demeanor change... She KNEW she had not followed protocol yet continued in this manner. She was completely out of line & caused such a ridiculous scene, I'm sure her own mother would have slapped her, being so embarrassed by her conduct. SICKENING. BUT let's not forget... They have such DIGNITY here! PLEASE don't fall victim to the "far off in never-never land" jokers on the phone if you call to get more information- those people are NOT there, believe me. You'll meet a few good people, a bunch of fools, pretend doctors who don't even look at you, and some money hungry crooks ready to pounce on someone and their family at such a critical and fragile time in their lives. Recovery is SERIOUS & should be treated as such. Drain this swamp. read more

They state they care about your well-being but this is not the case. It's all about the money. The so-called therapist there could care less about what's going on with you and more so about where you're going next so they can get a kick back from the next recovery center. And beware of anyone who enters if you leave before they so-called allow you to go they will hold all your valuables and will not let you take them with you for a complete 24 hour hold. This means any cash you came with your wallet a credit card keys anything of any value they will not let you take them with you so if you decide to go here do not take anything of value with you. read more

Unbelievable experience. I took my wife in who finally sobered enough after 3 weeks of heavy drinking, to look for help. She tried killing herself and was ready to end everything. She made it into the waiting room and within 5 minutes, Sunrise was trying to get $5000 upfront before doing anything. I couldn't believe my ears, that's what they were most interested in, instead of finding the best help for my wife. We of course walked out and went to another firm across town that took her in immediately. No paper work, patient help and support first, which is what I was happy to hear. It saved her life. I can't imagine any healthcare in time of need asking for full money upfront in the face of an emergency. I would never recommend any agency that does that. read more

This place was totally misrepresented by the admissions office: 1. They violated my HIPPA rights which I will be reporting 2. I never saw a DR. Psychiatrist or a counselor. I did see a PA whose advice was "don't use q-tips" Almost comical. Been using my them my entire life and never had a problem...besides, it has nothing to do with the treatment i was there for. 3. The food which I was told was prepared by a chef and approved by a dietician consisted of fast food (panda express, Moe's and pizza) The other food included fried chicken, hot dogs, ....for breakfast...danishes and powdered eggs with grits and bacon. i hardly think a dietician would approve these choices. There were no healthy snacks available...just a vending machine with candy, cigarettes and popcorn 4.With a few exceptions the staff was rude. STAY AWAY....there are many better places...this place is a disgrace read more

My son was just discharged from a 7-day stay at Sunrise into a PHP program and words cannot fully express the gratitude I feel toward everyone who worked with him there. One person in particular, though, stands out. His name is Nick. In the 2+ years that my son has struggled with his addiction, we have never encountered anyone who demonstrated as much care, compassion, and concern as Nick has exhibited over the past few weeks. He became invested in my son the way I would expect him to be invested in a member of his own family. In doing so, he became an anchor for my son; a source of stability in the middle of near-fatal chaos. I can say with no hesitation that Nick's commitment to getting my son into Sunrise is the only reason my son is alive today. The fact that he has expressed a desire and willingness to remain involved in my son's life and continue supporting him on his journey of recovery gives me more hope than I have had in a long, long time. This place is just out to make a buck. Don't step foot in one of there facilities or send a loved one here. I was there for all of two hours, and they took my $8500. I was supposed to have a private room, but when they showed me to my room there was all this guys stuff still in there - including his dirty razor and dirty towels laying on the floor. They had the gall to act like I was bein a princess when I complained (I was paying quite a bit more for a private room- not to mention that I'm a woman!) Now, 'm trying to get my money back, and I've left six messages - with an actual human - I can't get a hold of the person who's in charge. He refuses to call me back. This is not a professionally run organization that really cares about you getting better. Go somewhere else! read more

Horrible experience! My son left the detox unit because he could not get the maintenance meds that he desperately needed to fight his cravings and withdrawals. When he left, they would not give him his wallet, his suitcase, or phone, so my son who was suffering at the time, was left on the streets in the cold (had no jacket), had no ID, not a penny of money, no phone, so no way to communicate with family. We live in another state, so my son was totally stranded in an unfamiliar place 6 hours from home!. Luckily a fast food restaurant allowed him to use the phone and call us. I had to pay a lot of money to get my son transported back home (6 hours). It was a nightmare! If they had allowed him to have HIS stuff, he could have at least gotten a hotel room for the night until we could get there. After we got him back home, we then had to contact them to get his personal stuff returned at our expense. This was WRONG at every level. It was very unprofessional and it put my son in a dangerous situation. It was a NIGHTMARE! Totally inexcusable. read more

The night I walked into Sunrise I was drunk and ready to fight any and everyone. I couldn't of been greeted by a more caring, funny, patient person than Alesia. She never said a mean thing toward me, never became hostile or violent even though I was in a confrontational state of mind. She calmed me down, made me feel comfortable and got me in bed before she left me. The next day I was greeted by her big smile and a " hey best friend". Detoxing off alcohol and being away from my kids was the worst time of my life, but having Alesia at Sunrise made it so much easier. She was there to uplift me when I cried for my kids. She was there to give me the hard truth even when I didn't want to hear it. She was the one I told went to when I needed encouragement to get through the ten days I was at Sunrise. When I found out I was as going to Evolve and that she was working there I was so relieved. Alesia personality and demeanor can make any place feel like home. She made being away from home easier. To this day when I need someone to talk to and reach out to for support I call her. Alesia made me want to be a med tech, to be the one there on the toughest days of these people lives and to help them like she helped me. Today I'm 90 days sober and if I hadn't of met Alesia at Sunrise doors May 17th I don't know if I'd be where I am today. read more

It's sad to see most places all about money instead of helping those with substance issues and I can truly say this place really wants you to be healthy and happy. My son was referred to Sunrise for a "medical detox" because he was having all-day hallucinations as a result of Xanax/Alcohol withdrawal. We had to pay for a full 10 day stay up front ($6,000) , and once he was admitted, he received no medication for his detox. They gave him something to help him sleep, which didn't work. We asked daily for him to receive the "benzo drip" that was supposed to help come off of the drugs safely, the whole reason he was there...and they kept telling us that based on the dates he told them he last used, he didn't qualify. They were taking his word! He wasn't living in reality...totally out of touch. He continued to get worse each morning when we'd speak to him and after only 2.5 days they called to tell us they were admitting him to the hospital e.r. because they "couldn't help him there". Long story short, he did not get the services we expected, and they dumped him after a couple of days. And because they sent him to the ER, he was then required to be sent afterwards to a mental hospital afterwards. We were told we would receive a refund for the days he was not there, which would help with the hospital bills we are now getting daily. We cannot get them to return our calls now. What a racket! This place is all about getting your money.......not helping the patient!! On November 6, 2020 I took my niece to Sunrise. She had been discharged from Peachford and it was recommended by a Recovery center that she go to Sunrise to complete the detox before going into Recovery. I talked to Alec who assured me that this could be done in a week. When we arrived, the total payment was required up front. The day before discharge, I requested that all paperwork be ready so that we could take it to the Recovery center we were going to. When I arrived, there was no paperwork. They said that it had been sent but they really hadn't done anything. Needless to say this created problems. After admissions test were done, I realized that nothing had changed during her time at Sunrise. There was no detox at all. I disputed the charges with Bryan Hellmers to try to get some money returned and he told me that my Niece wanted to stay on the drug so they gave it to her!!!! I asked if someone there for alcohol addiction wanted a drink did they give it to them........he had no answer. A complete waste of a lot of money that could have been used to get her some real help.
