Our garage door was needing replaced. We called Sunrise because they are the ones who originally installed door when garage was built. I asked for an invoice and was told his wife did those on the weekends. I called twice after that and sent an email requesting an invoice. Always an excuse. Our verbal quote was for door replacement and repairing the vinyl trim around the door opening. When door was done, I reminded him that the vinyl trim was to be done also. He said he had the material, but nobody to install it. He was looking to hire someone. That was in August '25. It is Jan. '26 and we have not heard anything more from him. read more

BJ and his crew are highly skilled at the garage door trade. I would recommend getting a quote before the do the work. I had general maintenance with some parts and labor, and it was pricey, more than was expecting to pay. It was a vulnerable spot i wax in because they started working really fast before I could get the price settled. I have no issues with the quality or craftsmanship of their work. They knew things about my opener and doors and trey had a mother board in stock that is no longer available to purchase. This is huge! Had my garage door spring break with both of my cars still in the garage. I called a garage service company in Meridian that had a sticker on the garage door and they told me that the next available time was in 6 days. I then thought to try a garage service company in Nampa where I live to see if they could come out sooner. I called Sunrise and BJ answered the phone. I told him that my garage door spring broke and where I lived. He answered with "I will be right out to check it out". I arrived in about 30-45 min along with two of his workers, Brandon and Tommy. He checked out my door spring. made a call and gave me a quote to replace the door springs that day. I agreed to the quote and while he went to get the springs, he left one of the worker to dis-assembly the old door spring. He got back in an hour and the two workers finished the installation. They not only adjusted main main garage door but, also my single third garage door at no extra charge. I appreciate that they understood that my garage door was broken and could not be opened, unless manually. They did come back to me with "We can come by in a few days" or "We can come out today, but it is going to cost extra". BJ was very upfront on the cost of the replacement springs and installation. He knows his business and gave me suggestions on keeping my doors in good working condition. I would recommend using them for all your garage door needs. read more

Our garage door came off the track and come to find out the wheels were shot and needed to be replaced. My track was bent, it was a mess. I called and with in about 3 hours they were here. BJ fixed the motor on my garage door, replaced the gliders on the sides, and straightened the bars. He had to chase all over town to get the right parts so that I wouldn't have to purchase a new motor. He saved me hundreds of dollars. Thanks, BJ! This was the second time that I've relied on BJ to fix a garage door. We had a mishap in our previous house and he had to replace the whole door. In this instance, he just had to replace and realign a few things. It took longer than he expected due to difficulties getting the parts we needed. In contracting what Sunrise did is very similar to what's called "spiking a job". Jump in, do a little, put a person in an awkward and uncomfortable position of having to be very assertive in an area of expertise with which they are not familiar to gain control of the situation. That is terrible service. It's dishonest. It's a form of bullying, with an over barring personality, intended to make another person feel intimidated and obligated to pay for something they were not made aware of and they did not agree to. THAT is wrong. I am a retired General Contractor. I have built new custom homes and done extensive remodeling. I've had considerable experience with subcontractors. Most were good some were not. Sunrise Garage Door is one of the nots. By phone I explained my 6 year old door was sideways after closing on an obstruction on one side and I wanted an estimate for repairs. He showed up with two employees who immediately jumped out of his truck entered my garage and started doing unauthorized repairs without a word to me about what was being done or how much it would cost while he sat in his truck. He called me over to keep me occupied and started telling me how crappy my door was and how he was the only one who did things "right" anymore as he attempted to up-sell me various products. I broke away from his insistent command to stay with him. Told the workers to stop work and explain what they intended to do and the costs. They did not respond. Seeing he had lost control he got out of his truck and intervened by launching into his continued assault on how "my door had big troubles", none of which had anything to do with the repair. All were directed at how crappy things are made these days and how poorly it was installed. And of course how only he could make it right. I demanded a price for fixing the door. He said $127 assuming it was to get the door functioning again which was possible I agreed. The workers continued as he went back to listing my doors many deficiencies and quoted another $402 to fix them. I balked and told him two other companies were coming out to evaluate the door. He became annoyed, halted the repair. Left the door non-functioning and demanded payment. I paid to get rid of him. He left assuring me I needed him to do what no one else could do. Which quite frankly I thought he had already done. Screwed me. The repair was completed by Kevin from Garage Door Store - Boise. He was great! He charged $129 and would have done all that Sunrise had done plus what he did to complete the job to get my door functioning properly. Kevin was not associated with Sunrise Door so it must have been a miracle he was able to fix my door since he was outside the orb of the great and mighty Oz. read more

My garage doors were suffice to say very old and rare doors. One of these doors were damaged due to the previous owner not properly installing said door which caused the door to fall shut while my car was backing out. This company was able to fix all three of my doors, even repair the third door to the point where you can't even notice anything happened to it from the outside. All three doors work fantastically. Not only that but as the job continued the poor install job of the previous owner became more apparent as they found jury rigged parts all of which led to the doors not working in the first place. Sunrise Garage door, fixed all three doors and only charged me for the parts for the extra work as I could not have known what the previous house owner did to cause these issues in the first place. I've not done a ton of business with garage door companies, so I don't know exactly what to compare this experience to. Consider that when reading this review. We had the coil spring on our 2-car garage door break. I called a few places, and like another reviewer, "BJ" answered my call right away. At least two other places were answered by machines with voice messages. Another company wasn't able to do my job for about a week. Also like another reviewer, BJ let me know how busy he was, which I took as a sincere attempt to inform me rather than a blow off. Still, I can see how some would be put off by such remarks. My impression of BJ, who as far as I can tell, IS the Sunrise Garage Door company, is he's an old school dude making it in a modern world. While he worked, we talked of how long he's been in the business, and how they just don't make 'em how they used to, specifically talking about the large coil spring necessary to lift my old-school, heavy wooden garage door. Luckily, BJ knew a local (Nampa?) supplier who could get my part that day. He gave a few options and explained the cheaper would probably last 5 years, the more expensive would last more like 10. I was never sure if these were "guarantees" or just general recommendations. Either way, I trusted BJ, who seems to operate with a "my word is my bond" mentality. BJ and an assistant replaced the spring, and tweaked my motor, chain and tracks. These things were somehow out of whack, and while I don't understand what he did, I appreciate that he discovered and fixed them while he was there and included that work in his original price quote. BJ answered his cell phone calls from other customers a few times during our interactions, lending credit to his "I'm really busy" claims. He used paper charts and a simple notebook and pen to get info, make diagrams, and do math. Some might consider that "behind the times," but I found it refreshing and evidence that he truly does know what he's doing and doesn't rely on technology to do his work. The flip side of this is I never got a receipt for the work. I paid in cash and when I asked for a receipt, BJ told me his wife handles that and she would send me one. That made me a little nervous because I paid cash and spent a few hundred dollars. I called BJ a week or two later and reminded him of the work and the receipt, and after asking if a text mssg. would be helpful (he was apparently driving to another job site at the time), I sent him a text with my contact info and reminder about the receipt. I still never got one. Instead what I have is BJ's business card with his handwriting dated and stapled to my garage wall. I think this is BJ's "old school" way of guaranteeing his work, and I trust that his word is his bond, should the need arise. So far, everything's worked as good or better than before, and there are no indications that I'll need that receipt to insure my investment. (P.S. BJ did honor a discount "coupon" which I found on the company's website. Perhaps he's not as "behind the times" as first impressed) read more

I have had two other garage door companies work on our garage doors in the past. This time I decided to try Sunrise. I called they answered immediately and came out within 2 hours. When BJ saw my problem he said we had a bounded up spring and so he had Tommy cut out the shaft which was not easy. He said he had not seen this kind of problem in quite a while. Then he noticed that the other garage door companies had the tracks on both sides tilted in and couldn't believe they left them this way. So he straightened them out. So besides that they installed a new shaft and spring and oiled the wheels all at a very fair price! BJ goes way beyond the other garage door companies. He knows the business, he knows how to fix problems, and he is very fussy that it is done right. If you ever need your garage door fixed this is the guy, you need not look any further! read more

Had both of my springs blow out on my garage door which cause damage to the upper strut. Gave them a call, and was able to setup an inspection within a reasonable time. They repaired the damaged strut and replaced the springs with high quality material at low cost. What they quoted is what they charged and did the repair within an hour. I recommended Sunrise Garage Door to my granddaughter based on their yelp reviews. The automatic garage door wasn't working and she couldn't close the garage door manually. Maybe she should've asked what they charge for a service call. It turned out the electrical plug had come loose from the outlet. Sunrise charged her $200.00 to push the plug back into the electrical socket. Seems like a lot of money for about 2 minutes of work. read more

BJ answered my call but just took my name as he was driving. He returned my call very soon and within a day of when we talked came over with his crew of 2 and completely reattached the tracks which were out of line and no longer allowing the door to open or shut. He also redid and made corrections to errors that were made when door was installed years ago. He really cared about getting it right and gave lots of attention to detail as he mainly supervised the work. We didn't ask for or get written bid or receipt but that was fine. He gave an oral bid after accessing the problems and the final charge was right in line with his estimate of cost and time. I'm confident that if there was any problem with his work he would be right back. This is a small straight forward local business and suited our needs perfectly. read more
