Even in Northern Afghanistan, because at least in Afghanistan you'd EXPECT the motel to be, uh, rustic. But by virtue of this place being in California AND being this bad, I proclaim it "The World's Worst Motel."

There was some confusion because I didn't know I had to manually cancel my reservation on Airbnb, but they were very accommodating, and facilitated a date change to this past weekend. The room is cozy and cute - very clean, with a Keurig that was thoughtfully pre-filled, and plenty of coffee pods and tea. There is also a fridge and microwave in the room, and a couch that looks like it pulls out to sleep two more people (in addition to the queen bed). 4 people to the room would be...really cozy. I could have done it in my 20s, but probably not now. LOL. Check-in process was very easy, with the key in a hideaway with a code that was emailed to me prior. Overall, it was a really lovely stay, and there are plenty of opportunities to take pictures of the main lemon house, as well as the random fun sculpture peppering the property.

But as SOON as I walked into the room (#4), I was smitten. There is a palpable 'peace' here. Bottled water, and other treats were also available. There is a resident, skunk named 'Princess', who pals around with the local cats at night. She has never sprayed anyone (said the departing 'Music Club' members. . . they ought to know, right?). Now specifically about this property, it was not just clean with warm customer service, but you can tell that the owners really thought about the comfort of the guests. I was welcomed with a cookie, the room came with ear plugs (so thoughtful) and blackout windows that worked well, and a few other details where you felt like the owners were really thinking about the guest experience. The wedding itself was wonderful, picturesque and memorable, but the dinner and reception were horribly run. Food (steak) was very low quality and came out cold. Maybe the typical guests are more free spirited so don't mind, but this was not very good.
