I was told he picks his feathers and that's not a deal breaker for me. It's usually stress and boredom, which are not a problem in the environment I've brought him to. Skin conditions, however, are also related to feather picking. The adoption fee was higher than purchasing the same HEALTHY BIRD, but I practice what I preach... adopt! So sad that some rescues seem to see this as a way to extort money from people who genuinely care. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this rescue. My bird is still sick. It's been two weeks and I'm working constantly to help him. He does seem to be improving, but it's going to be a long road... extremely disappointing. UPDATE JASPER really has been through more trauma than I can imagine. He was subjected to malnutrition and disgusting wing clipping that has left him with psychological trauma and very underdeveloped muscles. It will take months for his flight feathers to regrow properly and it's possible he will never be able to get around properly. I'm happy that he found me, but I'm furious that a rescue of 7 years was not competent enough to recognize this situation, let alone spend their insane adoption fees to get this guy veterinary care immediately.

Although it was beyond hours, Susan greeted us, answered questions, and, in reality, comforted both of us. She also offered any help she could give to our situation. Indecision kept us busy for two more weeks, but decision made, we called her. She and a volunteer came on a Sunday and collected our surplus and our cat, taking time from her weekend to let us say goodbye, assuring his care, and thanking us for the privilege of being able to help. Fantastic, caring organization. We are indepted, and will be in their support list for a long time. If you are searching for a new furry friend, give them a call. You'll leave with a good feeling of meeting the people as well as the friend I hope you'll meet there and bring home.

When I called for an appointment I requested Buddy be seen right away as he has never been to a groomer and he's blind. My appointment was for 10:30 He was the only dog in there besides 2 small dogs getting their nails done. The "Managing Partner", Carlos said Buddy would be done in 1 hour and 45 minutes.I drove by 1/2 hour later and he was still in the window had not been taken back. So, is this how it works if someone walks in you take them first? Do they just over schedule? I returned in 1 hour and 45 minutes and was told he was just being bathed and would be another hour. Then good ol' Carlos said, " that's why I tell people we will text you when the dog is ready". Does he feel that works? He never said that to me! All he did was try and upsell me on some Mud packet about 3 times in 7 minutes then insisted I take the brochure with me to learn about it! WHAT! How about you learn how to manage your shop. Carlos said to me next time let us know that Buddy is urgent. So, I tried to explain to "Managing Partner", Carlos that I had asked when I set up the appointment that I did not want Buddy sitting as he would be scared, and Carlos says, "Oh, you talked to me". What a bully! He was trying to start a fight so I knew it was a losing battle...... Best wishes it you go in it is CHAOS when it really does not need to be.
