I was in Vegas for a long enough stay that I visited this library on more than one occasion. If I could bring it home as a souvenir I would! The library was said to be smaller but they have so much to offer. I was there at a busy time one day and was able to get help and find a seat and enjoy my time there. I'd say this library is small but mighty. The weekends didn't have many patrons and was quiet. The children's area is nice. There are many new well organized books and media for kids...and also they have toy lending, fun looking toys too, just when a child gets bored with a toy bring it back and swap for a new one. They have thoughtful details added in that area, like heat sensitive boards on the ends of bookshelves. I saw a little boy put his hand on it and his face lit up when he saw his colorful hand print, him and his mom practiced his name. They have a separate homework room, so I saw kids in there doing homework and getting help with it. Where was this when I was a kid? Would have made school a lot easier as my parents worked late and weren't available to help me (and no internet even), speaking of internet, plenty of computers for people to use in this library. I had a tablet and was able to connect easily to their free wi-fi. They have a tiny area where they sell discard or perhaps donated books. Best prices in town. I mean where else is a book 25 cents. It's small like a closet but that's ok, I don't think that's the big attraction here, but a nice bonus. On the days I was there they had an additional cart by the door with cds and holiday books (as it's December) for sale. There was a large selection of magazines, i forgot about how many are published (more than the 6 you see at grocery stores) and about so many interests. I spent at least an hour reading different ones. Magazine are so expensive now and so I enjoyed reading for free. The bathrooms were clean. I was a little worried as I was there when lots of teenagers were there, after school hours, but it is kept clean and well stocked. Speaking of the teenagers, it's right near a high school so expect after school to see them. It was actually nice to see the kids using the library. They have a 3d printer, I've never seen one of those before. You have to take a class from them to use it. They have a VR set, so fun. There are quiet study rooms you can reserve use for up to two hours. They have a nice selection of puzzles. I'm sure there is so much more they offer. The best part was the staff. So helpful!, they really seem to care and want to help. I heard one man exclaim "you don't know what this means to find this", and left with a big smile. When anyone asked for something from the librarian's, they didn't just point, they went over with the patron and showed them the area they were looking for and helped them find what they needed. If the library didn't have what a patron needed they would offer to look and get it sent over from other libraries (or is it library's, with an apostrophe? see I needed that homework help). The hold system seemed really good. I saw the staff show people how to use the online option's. Yes, I spent more time than the average person there but that's what I like, no casino for me, give me a book that's my excitement. A favorite part of mine at this library was the staff recommendation shelf. I wish my library did this. I was not able to find anything that interested me, so I looked at there recommendations and now have a list of 5 (ok maybe 10) books I can't wait to read. When I talked to the librarian about one of the books, she just happened to be the one who recommended it, Rebecca! She was so helpful. I asked her about another author and well let's just say she has inspired me to read and read! I also observed her helping and inspiring many others on the few days I was there, actually all of the librarians. They are all gems! Such a great staff. read more

I have been going to this library for a while finishing up college and it has always been my go-to spot to study, print, and look at books. They have many interactive clubs to go to and many selections of books. I always enjoy my time here studying and the staff is always very helpful and kind. It is split between three different areas, one for the kids, teenagers, and the larger area for 18+ where they have computers, books, and tables/chairs to lounge. The place is always clean as well compared to others I have been to. It may be a smaller library compared to the others but definitely a great one :) read more

The Library is very clean and very spacious. Technology is free to use with a library card. It was very easy to sign up for a library card here. Workers are very friendly and very helpful. This is a very nice library, there just isn't a very wide variety of books for some books. Rather than that, this library is very nice and very quiet. read more

Aside the one on Base... I've grown up with Sunrise as my community library. I remember when there wasn't even a spot to sit at... always forgetting about the floor seats. We love this place. It's well ventilated, clean, spacious. So, I was recently in with my 12 year old son, who I picked up from his school around 10:20 in the a.m. He'd only been in there for hosted events back in 2022. I was slightly disappointed! No. I got sad and upset because first it was loud (AF), from the children's section of the library. Second, there was no Art Exhibit to walk through. Yeah, there was art on the wall stone drawings, really cool. But I couldn't get over how loud it was. I plan to go back to apply for the "SHUSH" position. 52024 read more

I really enjoy this Sunrise Library. Today I brought my mother-in-law who's not only bound to a scooter, but also new to the state to get her a library card. I called ahead to see what she would need as she still has an out of state license. Basically all you need is a drivers license, (can be from out of state!) (or some form of identification) and a piece of mail postmarked within the last 30 days, (NOT junk mail) and that's it! She had her cell phone bill with her new address so that was sufficient. The woman helping us was SO patient and friendly. My MIL can be a bit abrasive sometimes, but the woman was so nice and helpful and in no way condescending or rude to her. She walked her through all of the benefits of her new library card and showed her the different options of cards to choose from. The library is also user friendly for anyone in a scooter or wheelchair. All services like the "door open" button, ramps into the building, ramps to the books area, low enough book check-out stations, all the amenities for those who need them. Their dvd and cd selection is very large, and like all other Clark County Libraries, you can borrow a book, movie, cd, etc from one library and return it to ANY other Clark County Library! So the selection is always rotating. I found a James Bond dvd to watch for the night. There is also an "international film" section, too! There is also a big selection of stand-up comedy DVDs, and a wide range of PBS and independent documentaries. Oh, they also have books! I used Sunrise Library to check out a Las Vegas Mountain Biking book, and a Fodors Las Vegas 2018 upon first moving here. Clark Counties Library District website is also really efficient and user friendly. I was able to find a movie I've been wanting to see, and find out which library had it, and call ahead and ask them to hold it for me. This library also has a section for Teens and a section for younger kids, too, both separate from the adult area. There are also copy/fax services, computer use services, and every Tuesday there is a free produce giveaway to those who may need that. April 2019, Clark County Library District waived fees/fines for overdue books when you brought in canned or packaged food. Not sure if that trend will continue, but what a great idea! By the entrance there are free resources/magazines for locals, (LV Weekly) magazines for seniors, Clark Country Library Monthly Happenings, ESL schedules, homework help resources, LV LGB monthly magazine, and other resources. Clark County Library District does a FANTASTIC job of evolving, staying relevant, offering relevant services to the community it is in, and having wonderful, knowledgeable employees that are always willing to help. I've always had great experiences checking out books and using the computer here. The librarians are always nice. However the security is a super rude jerk and I'm not sure why he works there. At 10am , another person and I walked in to the library since that's the time it opens. Security blocked us at the 2nd door, glared at us, and snapped "I didn't say it was 10 o clock yet and I didn't say good morning yet! But since your here come in I guess". What?! Who talks to people like that?? I'm not sure what crawled up that guys butt and died to make him so hostile. I sincerely hope he's not there the next time I visit this location. read more

I grew up coming to this library, so I've seen its transformation over the years. The children's room is gorgeous! The teen space is great for the teens. And the adult section is just as massive as I remember. Something about LVCCLD that has never let me double is the comic/graphic novel collection. Keep it up you guys, it looks amazing! To those complaining about how the library is not quiet, how a library should be, etc. Libraries are more than what they used to be. They've evolved into centers for the community and a safe space. read more

I've been going to this library for decades now. Granted its definitely smaller than other branches but Clark County Libraries have a decent amount of DVDs and CDs, which is what I usually check out all the time. So I have a bad habit of requesting items from other libraries. I would probably say the only thing that annoys me is self-check-out and I definitely do wait for my scanned items to turn green however I always seem to set off the alarm anyway. So then I'd have to go back up to the front/info desk and get them rechecked out again. At times that can be a total time waster especially when there is a line. read more

When I come here, I'm under the impression that I will be going to a library. So as a library, I kind of have certain expectations, the top one being that it would be quiet and that understood rule about libraries would be enforced. Instead, I have this guy right across from me watching some show on his tablet without earphones (rude and inconsiderate), cell phones going off... And off and off, Conversations echoing from the lobby, and this girl who works here stacking books like she hates the workd, which I am gathering from the banging of the books on every shelf. Or maybe by expectations of libraries are a little too much. I don't know. I only put two stars because this place is clean for the most part and I have not had any bad encounters with anyone that works here. read more

This is a great library in a very empty area. They have excellent travel resources, usually always at least one empty computer for use, air conditioning, seats to relax and read in. They also have a great selection of spanish books as well as english books. The young adult section is large to at thIs library so great for younger readers to get them into reading. Their hours are pretty good too, about 10am to 8pm so plenty of time to stop in. This library also offers English classes to Spanish speakers every week for free but I have heard they are big and it's hard to learn anything. Overall though this is one of my favorite library's in Vegas and Super to my job. If in this area I suggest to check out this library. read more

Computers are good. I like how you can reserve a computer if need be. I don't like how you can only be on the computers for 2 hours max per day. Do they not know how long job applications take? I mean if no one is waiting you should be able to continue use on the computers. I do like how u can check out your own books without waiting in line. Staff was friendly also. read more

Your library is small library and your have club read and you lot of book and movie. And lot other stuff too

Although this is an older, smaller library it fits my families needs quite well. They have a good supply of materials - everything from books to DVDs and they have a great set of Children's Librarians. My kids like their story times and look forward to going to the library. Because it is a smaller library it is a little crowded in the summer and around story times. read more

I love this library! Very quiet, friendly staff and I like that they will request an item from a different library to avoid you having to travel to a different location. The only negative thing I will say about it is some of the books are out of date. I went to try and gather information from a culture different than mine but could only find travel books which were really of no help. Besides that, good place to go. read more
