English (Google Maps / Yelp) On Friday, June 5th, I was working on a computer at Spring Valley Library and left in a hurry when closing time approached -- accidentally leaving my USB drive behind. It wasn't until a week later that I realized what had happened. My heart sank, as the USB contained very important documents. I visited the library on a Sunday afternoon and explained the situation to a staff member. They asked for the date and time of my visit, then carefully retrieved my USB -- neatly wrapped and stored inside a red wallet for safekeeping. I was truly moved. They hadn't just set it aside -- they had taken the time to wrap it and store it with care, as if they knew how precious it might be to someone. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. Too many HOMELESS PPL! I hate some of these libraries like Clark library too and this one, too many homeless people inside and smelling up the place! I try to go to the nice libraries like Meadows or West MLk library they just opened but for some reason 1-3 homeless ppl always gravitate to the public libraries! I'm just waiting for my laptop to get fixed and I'll be back at home with my home WiFi and laptop but till then I'm using the public library and I don't mind as long as it's clean and I can concentrate on myself! Otherwise this one is clean and quiet but they have old computers and homeless ppl! I left! read more

There are too few workstations, and in half of them the outlets don't work, making it impossible to charge a laptop.

The employees at the front desk in the computer area are always super friendly and helpful because I seem to forget how to print all the time lol. This library is always quiet and neat. Everyone is so helpful. read more

I've been visiting the library since I was a kid.  I love how libraries offer so much more than just books these days!  From movies and games to even 3D printing, there's always something new to discover. It's amazing that so many resources are available for free. I encourage everyone to explore their local library--you never know what treasures you might find. read more

I'm gonna be honest... I don't think I'll ever come back here. It's scary. First off, as I was entering, there were lots of homeless people out in front. I feel sad for them, but at the same time, I felt unsafe. It's okay inside. There were people there, studying and minding their own business. I wanted to see if I could have a study room to myself. I asked a worker for help, and she was really nice actually. She explained to me how they have "Quiet Rooms," and that anyone can come in, but it's meant to be more quiet. She explained how, in the Quiet Rooms, they don't have ceilings.. She also said that I can't close the door. Someone must have done something really bad in these Quiet Rooms for them not to allow you to close the door. Also, since the Quiet Rooms don't have ceilings, it's actually louder. Go figure. It amplified every other noise from outside of the room. I had my headphones on to block the noise, Thank God. I studied for a little bit and just left... Boy, was it scary leaving this place.. Again, there were still homeless people outside when I left... There were hardly any lights-- seriously. I felt so unsafe. You know, you never know if you're gonna get mugged or not. It was dark and scary in the evening time.. I was so relieved to leave. read more

I'm a huge cheerleader for the public library system. Neighborhood libraries don't just provide books and other media for checkout, they provide essential community services. This one in particular has a food pantry type program on site, with free lunch for children, daily. They also have a full calendar of various clubs, groups, and meetings held to support the surrounding area with language learning, job skills, internet access, and socialization opportunities. It's a gold mine. And their actual checkout selection ain't bad either. I like that I can look up what's available online and place holds for easy grab-and-go pick up. Navigating this location is a bit tricky, as they do have some signage but the layout is a little odd. Their graphic novels section in particular is well stocked, and they have several computer pods for walk-in reservation. read more

Don't let appearances fool you. Yes, this library is a little rough on the outside and isn't in the best part of town. However, once inside, you forget about all that. Let me start by saying it's a pretty big library. I had to walk through 2 different areas to get to the kids play area in the back. The play area is pretty big. There's 2 play kitchens, a shelf full of toys and of course lots of books. There's also a wall dedicated to legos, magnets and felt. The day we visited, they were having story time for the little ones, which included singing, dancing and bubbles. The library itself is very organized. They have employees that are very helpful in answering any questions. And the patrons who were there the day we visited were friendly as well. I'm sure I'll be visiting this library again soon. read more

The staff is so helpful. Inside is very clean despite the outside appearance. They also have a super cute community garden where they grow all sorts of plants, even things like cilantro & they make it to where you can take some home! I definitely love this library! read more

Wednesdays are the busiest it seems, because the parking lot is always full just before 5pm. This location is the only library I've been able to visit. They have a sensor security entrance and security guards walking the floors. It's a public place so this need perhaps is necessary; and times have changed (a separate discussion topic). Awesome things about this library are the sections are clearly marked i.e. adult, children, copy center... They have a bookstore and customer service cashier. Your borrowed books are held for a week for you to check out. There is a resource room with free reference materials. Throughout the library, they provide free mini care kits (tissue, hygiene, and such.) Clark County offers free adult and children's programs at multiple library locations. One important program offered FREE to the community is their CALL program - English classes provided to the adult community without a cost to the resident. These English classes are held from beginner level to advanced. There is a pre and post test, then certification. There are even conversational classes held on Fridays for those that need English speaking practice. The kids' program is new and beneficial - a way to cater overall to a family's development with learning English. Great community outreach! read more

Well this library was never perfect but it was close to home.I always noticed how some staff was not really paying attention to kids bad behavior & young kids being left alone in the kids area.I sadly noticed too if you have a special needs kid they are very prejudice towards that & don't protect their needs which is more important.Im done having me & my daughter being mistreated there & will not go back. read more

Spring Valley Library may not be the newest library in town but they do offer the best services and continually sponsors community events. I also enjoy working at the library with its available FREE and fast wi-fi plus tables with charging stations making it an ideal stop for telecommuters or patrons needing to top-off their devices. Also don't forget to avail the library's affordable bookstore where you have a very good chance of finding that one book at a price steal. This being one of Las Vegas Clark County's library, it of course offers a network to a vast collection of graphic novels, reference materials, magazine, plus the streaming services for movies and music--all you need to do is get carded to start using this free resource! read more

I've gone to this library quite often and it's not the best library in town. This library definitely could use some renovating! The only problem that I had with staff was that I know I asked to renew my daughter's library card but they didn't do it. Their selection of books, dvds, cds, audiobooks, and other items are great since of course, they're free! The library did get smarter with the computerized self check out...you just stack up your items and somehow it reads em all. It's about the same concept with returning except that you just place your item on the conveyer belt which has a scanner and you're good to go. It's actually pretty cool. read more

I did not particularly care for this library. They have a big choices of dvd and you can order if needed. The book selection is not bad especially if you are looking for reference books. But The employees at the desk in the computer room are grumpy and at times rude when you ask them politely one simple information. read more

Decent library on Jones Blvd. Have only visited a few times whilst on vacation in Vegas, but it gets the job done. Staff are pretty helpful, and selection is nicely-sized for what it is. Only hangup I have with this place is that the WiFi was non-functional ( broken?? ), at least while I was there. Aside from that, it's a solid place to get some studying or relaxed reading done. I come here when I need a place to study or work, away from the office. There seems to be lots of different activities going on but I mainly look for a table where I can plug in my laptop. There is complimentary WIFI access but the last time I was there I was not able to connect. The area I am usually at is relatively quiet with several others studying or working, on their laptops. There is one security guard stationed close to the front entrance. It's not a bad place but it's not something to brag about either. It serves my basic purpose. Compared to Sahara West, this is much smaller, in a somewhat sketchy area, and has a confusing layout. I think it is much older. In general I like libraries. I just like Sahara west a lot more. read more

Same edge as other branch libraries. No diversity. Three black security guards. They spend there time clustering around chatting instead of patrolling. Some of the loudest when they greet those from their community. But this library is safer than other libraries where the homeless live despite COVID19 reductions by the library. No wipe downs of computer keyboards and no material to do so. Same with copier. One librarian looks like she's going to kill someone with her attitude and stares. Maybe time for her to take some vacation days? read more

Can't say this is one of the better libraries in the LVCCLD. I've been coming here for well over a decade and remember how awesome the story times were. There was a bookcase that would open up to a tunnel that allowed kids to crawl through to the story time room. I remember it as quite an awesome place, but can't say the same anymore. Nowadays the place kinda tends to smell like a clean kennel. It's a little run-down is all. Although it's on the smaller side, you should be able to find everything you need. There's a quiet room composed of old, rickety chairs. DVDs and CDs to check out, children's section, computers that you have a certain amount of time to use (I've seen a line for computers when it's gotten busy), and some work places, although they can fill up as well. It's not my first choice when looking for a library to stay and study at, but definitely to stop by quickly and check out books. read more

It's been almost 15 years since I've stepped foot in a library. Needless to say, I was shocked at how much they've changed. No dewey decimal system, no card catalog, no microfiche. FREE wifi! A maximum of 50 items (including 7 DVDs) that you can check out! I can't get over how amazing public libraries are. This Spring valley location isn't the biggest, newest or cleanest, but it still rocks. They've got comic books and graphic novels that you can check out. Tons of kid's books are available along with LeapPad learning systems for kids. Now I can check out all of this cool stuff for my two year old. I don't read much (actually I don't read books at all) but they've got plenty of DVDs to rent and lots of music CDs to check out. I never thought a public library would be a place where I could get some old school music like Dinosaur Jr, Pavement, and Sonic Youth. Will I be back? You better believe it. This library is always busy so sometimes it's hard to find a spot to sit at. The computer room is pretty cool except you are timed. The workers are pretty nice. Seems like an old library, but definitely a cool spot. Not too sure if the area it's in is a safe neighborhood. read more

When I was a kid, I used to go to the library everyday. It was the everyday summer place and during the school year, the weekend place. I was a big fan of mystery books. Do you remember the kind where you can choose different options for the story and basically create your ending...they were awesome, do they still have those? hmm. Anyway, it's been a while since I've been to a public library since school and I am amazed at how much they have evolved. There are machines to check out your own books, cds, and dvds, and other machines to accept their return. The book selection here is ok as it's a small library with a rather large children's area. The busiest section is the DVD area; free movies, of course it's busy. I go for the audiobooks and I'm glad they have a healthy number of titles. I love the library system and have to make a note to myself to donate my old books and dvds so public libraries continue to survive. You should too! =) read more

If someone had told me 10 years ago that "one day kid, you'll have a hard-on for a library. A fervent desire so strong, that you just have to share it or otherwise harm yourself in the process," I would have punched that person in the face. But then again, 10 years ago I would have probably been passed out in my own vomit on a strange bedroom floor. Dreaming. About libraries. The staff here is courteous and pleasant, even when I walk up to the counter with the maximum number of media at 845pm when they close at 9. The last time I did this (inadvertently, I'm never an asshole deliberately) the college-ish girl at the counter had a "fucking guy!" look on her face but still smiled a toothy grin. Since then they have alleviated this issue by supplying self-checkout scanners and assistance for those who need it. Spring Valley Library branch also surprises me EVERY TIME with their diverse music selection. Celine Dion lives a few jewel cases down from Cannibal Corpse, and Norah Jones two clicks away from Nile. Who would have thought CDs could hold so many fingerprints? It's like a damn crime lab up in there! read more

This library is located just next to my home, is very well maintained and full of activities for kids, also have a security at the door, AC for the summer heat !!! The only thing that looks negative is the homeless people sleeping inside but poor people they need books too, the staff is very helpful and kind, photocopies are 10 cents a print, not bad, highly recommended to all the neighborhood and friends. read more

I'm a fan of this library. It's nice, smaller than others (like Sahara West). It's a quaint place to study if that's what you're into. I had problems signing into the wifi from my macbook, but otherwise I'm happy with my experience here. Wouldn't go out of my way to get here, I probably would go to Sahara West if I'm looking for a large library with more resources. read more

#Vegas Trying to be "positive" is something I battled with. I don't think you can be too happy, people question or challenge you when you are. The terms "perky" or "hippy" or "morning zoo" come to mind. I take your mental sigh as agreeing. At times when I am happy, I try not to "jinx it" bring attention to it. I have had many (more than 5) bicycles stolen/ vandalized in my youth after I bragged about how I tricked it out, when I lived in East San Jose. Believe me, if I ever won Megabucks or the lottery, I plan on telling a handful of people about it, the rest will find out after I've switched the major numbers/ addresses/ accounts I can be contacted before I am gone to wherever I see paradise. Books have always been the answer to me. I've written before about having a dozen books on the table that I'm in the middle of at any given day. But I haven't written much about Amazon. I have read a lot of reviews on that site, including books I think about checking out at the library. I tend to stay away from fictional novels. I'm interested in a lot of non fiction, I like chapters I can skip around to my remote control attention span. I have many books saved on several categorized lists. I haven't posted the link like so many women of unspoken means of sustaining an extravagant lifestyle with an open schedule. But I saved a lot of books on the list to find them at the library so I could at least skim thru, to make sure I wouldn't purchase one of those books that shows up at my door as one of those booklets you find at the supermarket checkouts. $13 down the shitter. Spring Valley Library I discovered when I lived a couple blocks away. I continued to go here even when I moved far away to the Eastern/ 215 area of town and when I lived at the East Trop/ Pecos area. It became a backup place when the main Flamingo library computers were booked up. I had cheap ass dial up, and even the couple of years I bought broadband for me & my g/f, I would go back to this library when the system was down, or I'd still get books there. Also, they have a good selection of audio Cd's that I, too checked out to burn as just about everyone does. Also, they have a good selection of DVD's I never took advantage of. I should have. I do now at my local library, even with my rotation of Netflix at home. Netflix is good for getting tv series in order, whereas you kinda take what you browse and see at the library. Even in my mind now, I know where each of my favorite shelves are. As far as library bathrooms go, if I really needed to, it was probably the only clean (smelling) one I have ever been to. I know, in Vegas, we're used to having a ton of well lit, cleans stalls to choose from in casinos and cleaning crews that check more than once a quarter. Outside of Vegas, I realized I became something of a public bathroom snob with the 1 stall selection, let alone finding one. Most importantly, the library is where I go to find answers. I get so sick of follow your dreams and passions and other no meaning affirmations, it says nothing about actual steps to increase (have) income or how to deal with all the a-holes that butt in, or threaten to tell- wah wah- pot and kettle crap, when we're finally having a good time. Books in the library DO help. One of my favorite tv shows was Buffy, just because a lot of finding the answers was done in the library, pounding the books. The library keeps me from watching idiot tv. It keeps me out of bars, since I don't have money or my drinking buddies anymore. It keeps me out of stores when I shouldn't look at things I don't need. And, it's one of the places I can be happy, when I can find a quiet place and a comfy chair to read. read more

Brought the kids here since it was early release from school. It's been a good few years since I've been to this library, ever since we moved away from this area. I was surprised to see all the new renovations and how awesome it looked. The kid area is so nice and attracting now. Love the decorations they put up and how they have books up on the top of shelves to attract little readers to go over. We actually stayed for an hour, kids did some homework and borrowed 4 books for the weekend. read more

A small, cozy library with friendly staff and is well-kept. Lots of different events that are free to the public. And if they don't have a book you're looking for here, they can tell you which branch it's available at and you can either pick it up there or have their courier service get it to the Spring Valley location in a few days. the room in the back where homeless people hang out needs to be cleaned. their is no ventilation and the whole room stinks. some advice use air fresher and clean the room germs linger and people can get sick some of your staff is not very friendly and some should not be employed at the library because of their lack of social skills read more

Yelp 100 Challenge 14' * 26/100 Quaint library with an intimate theater. My best friend and I came here for a free brass quartet concert two months ago for her music class. Although I've never really been a Dixie person, she managed to convince me to join her to relax at the end of a school week. The chairs were so comfy that I once found myself auto-piloting (another word for snoozing) through one or two songs midway through the concert. We did not get to check out the book section after the concert because only the theater was left open at that time, prompting us to head back home. I doubt that I would trade spending time at the Sahara West to come here. It is tucked in a rather sketchy location near Paradise and doesn't feel very safe at night. Also, we saw a couple of horse-riding police on our way here. I hope it wasn't just us seeing things because we were too tired from school. read more

very large library! the entrance splits in two directions.. one side is more of an open area with computers and tables.. surrounded by books.. the other side to the left is majority books. there are plenty of computers to search for books throughout the area.. and the kids have their own section in the back.. as well as computers for Internet use. there are plenty of ppl walking around and an information desk if you have any questions. I love libraries, and I love books. I am a nerd. See, I've admitted it, and have no problem being labeled as such. The Spring Valley Library is the 4th public library I've visited here in the Valley, and is by far my favorite (not including the Lied Library at UNLV, which is bad ass). My first visit to the SPL was to check out a couple audio books for a long drive my wife and I were making. I found the library very easy to navigate, clean, and the staff were pretty friendly and helpful. There was a good selection of audio books, and the ones we got were in very good condition. Since this first visit, I have been back and have spent more time in the library. I am very impressed with the selection of fiction, non-fiction, DVDs and CD's. I didn't have anything in mind when I went through the DVD and CD collection, but found a CD I've wanted to buy but is old sold as an import here. I was very excited and have been listening to it since. I was also surprised by the amount and selection of DVDs. They even have TV Show DVDs! The library also offers free Wi-Fi! I can't wait to spend more time here now that I've gotten to wander around it. read more

This particular location isn't that bad. I really have only been a few times and each time I've encountered some very helpful and professional staff.. Now the people who actually use the library ..well.. Let's just leave that subject alone.. I actually hate the library..even as a kid all the way up to high school and college because it's unsanitary computers and workstations. Generally i like to avoid using public services at all cost however when you are in dying need of a printer and don't feel like paying for the expensive services of Kinkos you result to here. Overall it's not a bad choice if you are looking to hop on a computer and need to print things! Will only cost you $0.10 a page for black and white copies! read more

Fairly good sized. Checking in and out is quite quick. staff is very helpful! Only draw back is parking lot is a little tight.

A little on the small side but the wifi is fast and plenty of work space for my needs.

Support your local library! When's the last time you've even been to a library? Its free to get a card and gain access to so many resources. This branch in particular has plenty to offer. And don't go thinking libraries are so outdated because you can even rent ebooks for kindle, ios, nook, etc. read more
