My family and I have come to this library before a couple years ago. We first came here to get passports for our kids, and I highly recommend it if you need passport services. Just be sure to book your appointment online! The appointment slots open I think exactly one week in advevery Monday (I'm not 100% sure on that though, and the time slot optionsare very limited and fill up quickly. If you can snag an appointment, it's one of the easiest and smoothest places to get passports done, especially with kids. Most recently, we used one of the multipurpose rooms here for a homeschool class event, hosted by an employee from the Las Vegas Natural History Museum for an ocean life class. I really love that the museum does that and we've always had great experiences with classes like this brought to us. Overall, this is a fantastic library for so many reasons, not just for checking out books, but also for community events, meeting spaces, and passport services. I've been to the Windmill Library probably 10 times over the past year, and I've never had a bad experience here. The building is clean, spacious, and it's never extremely busy. Whenever I've had a question at the front desk or needed help checking something out, I've never had to wait long. One of the best things about this location is the self-checkout system. It's super easy to use ... you don't even have to scan each book, DVD, or video game individually. Just place everything on the scanner and it checks everything out at once. They also have a great selection of PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch games, which is something a lot of people probably don't realize libraries offer. The DVD selection is solid too. It gives me a little nostalgia of walking through Blockbuster back in the day. Instead of paying for streaming services all the time, I'd definitely recommend supporting your local library. I usually reserve my books, movies, or games online, and they notify me when they're ready. I just stop by, pick them up, and check out. The whole process is really smooth. One time they even called me quickly to let me know I accidentally returned my own video game with the library items, which I really appreciated. Renewing items online is also super easy. As long as nobody else has requested the item, they usually let you renew it without any issues. I personally don't stay long enough to study or hang around, so I can't really speak on the noise level like some reviews mention and rude employee interactions. For what I use it for ... quick pickups and returns, it has been perfect. The parking lot is spacious, and they even have 3D printers available for public use, which is pretty cool. You can also renew passports here, so the library really offers a lot more services than people realize. I am really enjoying this library! I makes me feel like I'm engaging in my community. I have been participating in the Tales and Mocktails book club which is so unique and has been really enriching. The kids area is so busy you need a ticket for story time! The librarians have all been so helpful and kind! Today we got to see the Bubble Circus in the auditorium and it was a full house! It's a great library with many positive aspects. My biggest complaint is the noise level and how kids, mostly 12-15 year olds can be as loud as they want. This includes playing on computers, in the aisles at seating areas etc. This is the loudest library I have ever been in. It's lime frustrating as library staff just turn a cheek and do nothing about it. I guess this is acceptable behavior to Windmill Library staff and personnel. read more

This is my favorite library in the valley! It looks like the most modern and is extremely spacious! There are corners of the library that are used as an art museum. They have a solid selection of books options and sometimes have a section for discounted books for sale. I have used their computer lab a few times to print out papers which is a very easy option. There are workers inside of the lab if you need assistance. I love the amount of free resources and workshops this location has. As someone who loves to read the library allows me a sustainable way to keep this habit going without breaking the bank. They don't typically have the newest book releases. So I enjoy just strolling the different shelves on genres I'm interested in to pick up a book to checkout. I have found many hidden gems by doing this. read more

The library is beautiful! I came in for the first time for my passport appointment and I was extremely nervous. The staff was very kind and despite the fact that I messed up my application, they took their time to assist me. They answered all my questions and had a huge amount of patience with me. The library itself has 3D printers, an adult computer lab area, multiple study rooms, a teen VIP corner, and of course a children's corner. They offered events for every age and my last surprise came when I used their clean bathrooms and I saw a sign that offered period amenities if needed. It's nice to see a library help its community in every way. I cannot wait to come back. read more

Always clean, always lots of free parking, always safe with armed guard walking around, always clean restrooms, usually pretty quiet unless when they have events for the kids. The staff is all friendly and helpful. Lots of books, movies, music, and games to borrow for free! Great place to be during the hot summers and when it's cold during the winters lol. They even have a 3D machine you can use for free. We're here at least once every two weeks. I definitely recommend the library especially this location. read more

We had a great time at the Mystic fair event Saturday. There was music, performers, free yoga, palm readings, raeki sound healing, food trucks, crafts for the children inside, face painting, and more vendors selling items than I could count. I look forward to going to this event again next year this event was very well organized, lots of signs with the schedule and staff everywhere giving directions. read more

What a great library! I love libraries so much and have been frequenting the same one for quite a while. When I learned about this one, I had to check it out. It's a bit of a ways, but I'm glad I did it. This is a very big building! From what I could see, there's a theatre space, art gallery, bookstore, hydroponic garden, and 3D printers. This place is really cool! I took a few flyers for different events going on and checked out the art in the art gallery. I noticed that some of the sections of books are larger than my normal library, but my normal one is a lot smaller. I love all the resources of the library and the vast selection of items. They had cute book displays up, such as a heartbreak section since it's pretty close after Valentine's Day, and a large section of dvds. I ended up getting a crochet book and a novel. My husband got 6 musicology books! He was quite impressed with the selection since he went in very skeptical he would find much. This is a great addition to the CCSD library network! read more

The wife and I have been a long time Windmill library visitor from books, music to movies. Whilst perusing the monthly email I noticed they had a variety of artists performing free shows in the auditorium. This was our first visit to the auditorium and we were very impressed by the venue, comfy seats, stage and sound. We saw Jessica Fichot who is a Chinese French transplant to Los Angeles. Her music is very traditional on the Chinese side and her French songs get you moving. She plays the accordion and a toy piano that gives her music a very unique sound. This show her jazzy band included a guitar, upright bass, alto saxophone and clarinet. All of the members are very talented and showcased their talents throughout the 1-1/2hr+ jazzy concert. Prior to the concert we YouTubed some of her music so we knew what to expect... delightful and unique. We were surprised at the concert that she sang a variety of holiday music, in addition to French and Chinese. I say holiday as she sang songs in over 10 different languages! WOW!! We were both blown away by Jessica Fichot's amazing singer, song writer and musicians raw talent! We bought a CD and met her after the show. Would definitely attend her concert again if she comes back to Vegas. read more

Seemed like a nice library: very clean and tidy; lots of folks using it; nice collections. It was fun to arrive right as story time was about to begin! Reason its 4 instead of 5: as a librarian myself I always consider how the staff at other places treat patrons. I was disappointed that we weren't greeted, let alone acknowledged, by any of the staff. We walked past the circulation desk and the reference desk, and made eye contact, and nothing. This is a great spot to get some focus in. I've been coming here after classes to get some homework and studying done. They even have section for kids, teens, adults. My children enjoy the children's reading area--because they even have toys to occupy them with. It does get a little busy at this library, which makes it hard to find a spot to just sit down and pop open my laptop and get to work. But, the people and the community are nice here. People don't mind if you sit at their table, as long as you're in your bubble. I definitely recommend coming to this library for all your needs, not just checking books, but they even have movies, music, video games, printers, computers for use if you don't have access at home, WiFi services, teens section and children section and private adult computer room. You'll definitely see me here from time to time, while I'm in school. read more

Pretty nice library with quite a few cool features like 3D printers and pretty cozy seats that line the edge. The seats have fold out desks on each arm rest so you can place two laptops or devices on both sides of your seat. Internet is stable and decent as well. Good place to study read more

Windmill Library is a beautiful sight to behold! The larger-than-life library blew me away because I didn't anticipate such a gargantuan facility! It looks like the type of library that I would find on a university campus. Yet I have entered college libraries that weren't as big, well-organized, and put together as Windmil Library. I am shocked that it opened in 2011 because it looks brand-new! The library is super clean. I went to the library to scan some documents to my flash drive. They have two old-school printers to the left of the main entrance to the library. I found the angle challenging when inserting my flash drive into the printer. Therefore, I asked one of the employees at the front desk for assistance. The employee suggested I go to the Adult lab to use the printer there because they have a portable printer that's far easier to access. When I went to the Adult printer, I encountered Larry, a cheerful and invaluable employee who assisted me with scanning documents and, since it was my first time there, scanned my documents for free! Before I left, I wanted to ensure that my papers got saved to my flash drive, so I sat at a computer near the front desk, and the computer would not allow me to log in. It turned out that I sat at a computer designated for children, so I returned to the Adult lab and had no issue logging in. Again, this place is highly organized, and as a person who loves to read and write, it warms my heart to have such a state-of-the-art library in a modern age where people don't read as much because people want their knowledge and entertainment within a short reel or video. I would return, and Larry deserves a raise and formal recognition because he was super helpful and radiated a genuineness and happy-go-lucky spirit. When people work somewhere, going through the motions and losing enthusiasm while on the clock is easy. However, Larry's enthusiasm was infectious. He knew what he was doing, and he was highly courteous. read more

I love libraries in general! But this particular location is one of the roughly, three libraries that I typically frequent. Here at the windmill library the staff are all so nice and informative. The library is always so well kept up, organized and always properly ventilating. You come to appreciate that sort of thing when it's 103° outside but, once you step in doors it's a nice low 70°s. I am well aware of the fact that everyone nowadays has a smart phone with virtually all of the worlds information at their fingertips. Which is awesome and extremely convenient. But it's also awesome to get up sometimes and go outside and visit the library. When you need to do some research for school or personal reasons. Or when you want to find a good book to read, or just have contact with other people, or if you have a small child that you want to get interested in reading. Again, I know one can do all these things with an smartphone. But the one thing it can't do is provide that awesome environment, that awesome atmosphere that just kind of makes you want to learn... it's definitely a Vibe. # Reading is FUNdamental. read more

First time coming here and I'm excited to have a new place to study now! Very open and spacious, plenty of seating and tables. It's a very inviting and relaxing environment. Noise level is quiet but you'll hear a couple of kids from the children's area. It wasn't bothersome to me since I had headphones in and was able to study peacefully. I love the tall ceiling and big windows. There's a convenient drop off drive thru on the right side of the library parking lot. They even have their own little gallery near the entrance. This is a beautiful library with a great location for many who live in the Southwest part of town. They have ample parking outside. Once inside, they have a bookstore and place to munch on food before you are inside the library. Inside, you get your library card by showing an ID and proof of address. The card fronts were designed via contest a few years ago and unlock the physical and digital resources across the library system. You can also borrow books from any library in the system and have them delivered to your home library. They also even have a 3D printer. read more

Yes, this is a very clean and newly developed area with 5-stars rating for the library in beautiful neighborhoods. Very spacious, organized, helpful, and they definitely have more tables and chairs for you to enjoy at the library. Very comfortable and spacious feelings. Modern design. I love the building inside and outside. Safe area. Huge public parking lot. Bookstore is near entrance way. You can purchase beverages and snacks at vending machines there, but eat outside of the book areas. They have lots of tables and chairs in the huge entrance hall which I think is brilliant. Convenient. Art gallery and public restrooms are close to each other. Beautiful displays. Books and bookshelves were all very neatly organized. Everything seems to be in it's original spots and employees are passionate. Staffs are resourceful. You can easily find comfortable seating in this well lit spacious new building. Books and magazines are easy to find. Computers and offices/meeting rooms/study rooms are widely available if you want to sign up. Good book selections. Great place to study or read. Lighting is great. Huge windows. Love the environment. This is a great place if you have a good 1-2 hours to burn and enjoy reading. I'm surprised for the size and scope of this library this is the noisiest one I've been too. The staff do nothing about these kids who are playing around in the study rooms. They wait until it is too much instead of just nipping it in the bud. To hear a staff person come and kick kids out after the fact one of them was yelling because they were video recording for social media or for their own use and then spreading like guilty culprits because they know they did wrong.. too much. Then the staff member saying this has happened last time yet your group is doing it again, there seems to be no consequences for their actions. The homeless at the Enterprise location are at least respectful and quiet compared to this location. read more

I come here to study every day and I have never had a problem with the staff until today. I simply needed to use the restroom and they have 2 security guards that are here almost every day patrolling the area. I just asked if he could watch my belongings for two minutes. Around 1-2 pm, the tables are usually filled and I didn't think it would be the best idea to take everything with me just in case I lost my table. When I asked him, he laughed and said no in a condescending tone. He then continued to tell me that he didn't have time since he had so many other tasks to deal with and walked away. Keep in mind I will always find him standing in one area for about ten minutes. This disrespect will not be tolerated especially when I ask you to do your job. read more

I would like to start by saying this library is huuuuge. I couldn't believe it. I'm from California so I've visited libraries in my hometown in Culver City, the Marina del Rey and Santa Monica and I must say this library is the nicest of them all. I had to print some things so I made my way over to the local library to use their computers. I used TheIr website to set up an e-card and it only took a few minutes. this library Is clean and looks very modern. It Has a huge parking lot and once you enter the library it looks like they have a small gallery, an area with some vending machines, security , a section for kids computers and lt computers for adults to use. The staff is friendly and informative. The employee working the adult computer area assisted me with issues I was having with the browsers. He was very patient even though we couldn't figure out how to print my item. read more

The staff allows kids to run wild in here. Last time I went here kids were literally doing backflips off of the table, dancing, and being very loud. Yes, backflips. I wish I was exaggerating. I mentioned it to the librarian in the front and she could no appear to be any more disinterested in what I was telling her. She acknowledged she heard the noiseand said there is nothing she could do. Seriously? It is too much to ask for peace and quiet at a LIBRARY? There are no designated quiet areas that would have been quiet or private enough to block out the level of noise and distraction here. This is quite literally more of a daycare facility for kids than it is a library. read more

I absolutely love going to Clark County Library on Windmill. Located in the Southwest part of Las Vegas. The major cross streets are Rainbow/Windmill and it's right next to Choice gas station. Great place to find all your reading resources. The staff here are always so friendly and willing to help you. As you walk into the lobby area the tall ceilings give you that welcomed feeling. When walking towards the library book area you'll pass a few snack, drink, and coffee vending machines that'll help you quench your thirst, wake you up, and give you something to tickle your snack tooth. You'll also pass a room that acts as an art exhibit with beautiful displays of different eye candy. Across the vending machines there are seating areas where you can relax and drink/eat your snacks. The inside of the library is beautifully laid out and very very well maintained. There's a designated area for children right at the very entrance and also a designated area for tutoring. It's the perfect place to relax and get some quiet time while reading an adventurous book or just surfing the internet. Also, the library has an auditorium where they put on shows and performances. Every so often they'll also host a family/kids weekend afternoon movie. The library is doing a great job at following Covid19 guidelines and making sure everyone is social distancing. They've even closed up a portion of the checkout area to make sure that people aren't in each other's 6 foot radius bubble. Returning you books are easy as well. You can either walk into the library and put it through the return books belt upon entrance OR you can conveniently drop off your books at one of the three book drop boxes. There is a plethora of parking so there's no need to worry about a spot being available for you. read more

I stepped into this library for the first time a few weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised at how well-designed and spacious this place is. Not only does this facility have a huge auditorium, but it also has an art gallery and meeting room. Their children's section is quite impressive with quite a big storytime area. I love their quiet computer room and their used books for sale section. They even have a little snack area if you get hungry while looking through all their books, CDs, and DVDs. All the sections were clearly labelled and it didn't take me long to find what I was looking for. Their staff was nice and friendly and the library itself was very clean and organized.
