Found this place on Groupon and what a find. I had the deep tissue, aromatherapy, hot stone massage. It's definitely a little different but in a good way. My massage therapist was all around fantastic and the massage I received was one of the better ones I've had in some time. My boyfriend and I booked a couples massage on Sunday. We enjoy getting massages together and have been looking for a place that offers couples massages. We left extremely disappointed. We booked deep tissue massages. My masseuse used way too much lotion, didn't apply any pressure and just aggressively rubbed oil onto my body. At one point, she intended to apply pressure to the arch of my feet (which are sensitive due to my plantar fasciitis) but her nails were not short so it felt more like being scratched. No one introduced themselves to us, they walked in while we were undressing without knocking or warning. During our massages, a bell kept going off. My masseuse walked out of the room 3 times, talking to someone about other clients. If I had been there alone, I would have walked out. This was the worst massage I've ever had. We will stick to VRC in Skokie. At least we receive quality massages. read more

The room was cold, I heard people talking in another room the entire time, the massage was painful, and she pulled my underwear down and massaged my butt for half of the massage. Had a shoulder injury I needed worked on and found this place by accident. Truly exceptional massage and service for very reasonable prices. The owner offered me the Groupon price even though I didn't have one and gave me a free membership card as soon as I walked in! I got an amazing and relaxing hot stone massage for $55! I have been getting massages for almost 30 years and have paid as much as $200+ for a 60 minute massage and the massage I got today was right up there. Really terrific service, too! read more

The place was small, and had a very small parking lot. Corina was my masseuse when I went. I got the 60 minute Swedish massage which included hot compress and hot stones. I'm giving the place 2 stars because Corina was very sweet and professional. At first, it just felt like someone was slathering oils on my back, but she checked up on me and asked if the pressure was okay throughout the massage, and when I said more pressure she gave just that. I'm very sensitive to smells, and when I put my face in the donut hole to face forward, it smelled weird/unclean. The staff was talking loudly at some points which messed up the whole "relaxing" aspect. I had foot reflexology. It was great!! Only thing I hate was tip policy. You pay first. I was asked to pay $9 tips for $30 massage. Really? It was my first time and hadn't gotten massage yet, but they tried to charge 30% tips? It just made bad opening entrance. I saw the same situation at the other massage places, but don't ever do this. Just because other places do it doesn't mean it's accepted. High tips are only earned by high quality of service when it's beyond what the price is. If you need to get higher% of tips, please determine the service price wisely to cover the revenue and whatever the costs are. This unwelcoming treatment at the entrance made me so anxious and suspicious about their hospitality. Well, the treatment itself was great despite the fact of unhappiness at the beginning. The place is small, but ok. Curtain divides the section as private. Quite and Clean. Just like other regular massage place atmosphere w/ soothing music. I wish they understand how to do the business especially when it's comes to B to C. It's not just technique, service, or price. I used to love coming to this place when it was Mongolian Massage. This place is now under new ownership/management. Lots of new faces and the quality has just gone way down hill! The prices have gone up but the massages have gotten worse. When this place first changed ownership, they gave me a new membership card that said $45/hour. We went for a couples massage. 5 minutes into the massage, my bf asked his lady to massage a little harder. Then the lady that was doing MY massage answered and said "oh we have to charge you $10 more if you want hard". Since they already started, we just said "fine" and they continued. Fast forward to the end of his massage...he got dressed went to the front desk to pay the extra $10 that they wanted. Then the lady at the counter said "no, it's $25!" My bf and I looked at each other and both said that the lady said only $10. At this point the ladies that did our massages came out and started saying "it's not $10, it's $25". We were so confused and annoyed. So basically they charged my bf $70 for an hour of mediocre massage. The lady that was doing my massage didn't even ask how I like the pressure. From the get go I felt like a punching bag. I asked her several times to ease up but she never did. It was so painfully uncomfortable, that I asked her to stop. Beware! The majority of these reviews are from when the Mongolian massage staff still worked here. This place WAS great when it was Mongolian massage. I would know, I began going to this place when it opened, and remained a faithful client until recently, when ownership changed. The service was very professional, clean, relaxing...everything you'd expect when receiving a relaxing massage. They even had an amazing Groupon deal. The staff used to be very attentive, they'd ask about your health, trouble spots, pressure, etc. The things your expect to be asked at a professional massage therapist. I decided to give the new owners a second chance after this first, when a very large lady walked on my back and hurry me, to the point of needing a doctor's appointment. Well, this second time, was possibly worse than the previous. Not only did most of the original staff leave when the ownership changed, but this young therapist was constantly insulting me. That I'm too old, balding, I should work out more, and other derogatory remarks about my ethnicity. Sad to say, but I will not be returning. I honestly thought this place was it. Got a massage with my husband, it was fine but the lady was super rude about the tip. I put the amount that I normally do and she said,"This for two of us, its not even 20%" First of all why do u think I will tip you 20%??? And when I signed the reciept and try giving back to her she said, "leave it on the counter" and rudely walks back. And btw it is rude to talk to your coworker in a different language and then one of their phone's ringing during massage. If you need a 20% tip you need to work for it. This is not Mongolian Massage, and it's missing the former owners/staffs friendliness and quality. Sunrise isn't bad, it's no Mongolian Massage. It should be noted that most of the reviews here are of the previous owners and of the previous staff. Sunrise will serve as a nice backup to Mongolian Massage, but it is not a replacement. There prices here aren't very good, and the staff tends to be cold. I have gotten many good messages here and the staff does try hard, but they are not my go to. If I could give half stars my true rating would be 3.5 stars. read more

I came here for a valentines day couples deep tissue massage and specifically said only upper back because I have an injury to My lower back however twice she went to my low back, as well as ABSOLUTELY NO PRESSURE! It was just her rubbing lotion on my back ! My wife and I left after half hour ! Ruined the whole experience of 1 hour couples massage as we both left worse than when we arrived. This massage place used to be my favorite one to go to when I lived in the suburbs. I would go atleast once maybe even twice a month. Today, I experienced the worst massage of my life. Actually I wouldn't even call it a massage, the lady just slathered oil on my body and used the palm of her hand to rub back and forth like she was scrubbing a dish. At the start of the massage she nor the lady at the front desk asked what kind of pressure I wanted. I felt like this lady-"Nancy" wasn't even a licensed massage therapist, that is how poor the massage was. She used no pressure whatsoever, didn't use any sort of massage technique most usually use. So so disappointed, I would have gone to Mongolian Massage located by the yellow line (because they provide the top notch experience I am used to) but unfortunately no one there had picked up when I called to get in last minute. I left feeling this place not relaxed at all. I wanted to complain to the lady at the front desk but she wasn't even there afterwards. I've gotten consistently top notch service here. There is a very short form to fill out each time you go where you can ask for specific areas or specific pressure. So far they have paid attention to the form and provided exactly what I asked for. There are also a few nice subtle touches. For instance, toward the end of the massage the masseuse will use a towel to remove excess oil from your arms and legs. My clothes appreciate this! As to the review regarding 'happy endings': I very seriously doubt the validity of this. Everyone here has been very professional and they recently posted a sign stating specifically that such request will not be tolerated. It makes me sad that they would have to do this at all as I have to assume that ignorant men are the ones making inappropriate requests rather than the other way around. I could be wrong but given my experiences it sounds like nonsense to me. This place is a gem and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend it. read more

In one hour, I received a deep tissue massage, hot stone massage and aromatherapy oil. It was absolutely wonderful! At the end of your massage, they offer a paraffin bath for your hands and my hands have never been this soft! I have steered away from massages because of how costly they can get, but this place is extremely reasonable. Its simple decor, no frills, but man they can really get through those knots! The massage rooms are clean and the place smells and feels wonderful. Very inviting and friendly. I have had two massages there and both were fantastic. They use hot stones for a portion of the massage and that is a wonderful treat! After using my two promotional visits I have already booked an appointment for my next massage in a few weeks. This was the best massage I've ever received. I've tried massages from around the world and at different price points and nothing beats Mongolian in terms of quality of service, price, and value. In 90 minutes, i received a thorough full body massage, complete with a hot stone treatment and parrafin wax, I missed out on the groupon deal but it still only cost $49 (subsequent visits only cost $40). I had Jenny who was really sweet and the only masseuse I haven't had to tell to adjust pressure. I've been experiencing neck and back pain and definitely feel better (mostly because I feel so much more relaxed)! As to reviews re: thin walls: yes, the walls separating the massage rooms do not go all the way to the top, but I certainly heard no noise from the other rooms. They do at least now ask very specifically if a massage for two may/should be in the same room or not. And, as to the "assumed 30% tip": this is (now, anyway) done completely in cash, no presumption as to amount. My husband and I got a couples massage here and It was worth every penny and the wait. First of all this was one of the few places that were open on Memorial Day which caused them some scheduling issues and my appointment was changed but they fixed the issue. This was the most thorough full body massage I have ever had and I have had tons of massages. The therapist focused on my tense areas, she stretched us, great deep tissue pressure, and the hot stone massage was great! She actually massaged me with the got stones and didn't just run it on me. I discovered this place through a Groupon voucher that I received as a xmas gift from my bf and I've been making more appointments ever since! I first had the 90 minute hot stone massage and it was absolutely relaxing and amazing! I've been to several other spas and this place truly stands out because of how thorough the therapists are with their massage techniques. The pressure is perfect for me, somewhere between Swedish and deep tissue. It never feels like they're only just rubbing product on me, they really work hard on your problem areas. You know you're getting a good massage when you get that "good pain" but never feel like you're getting beat up lol! I've been to other upscale spas in the past but nothing compares to the massages I get here, i feel like I actually get great quality massage and feel a lot better when I needed some relief. I always end up coming back here whenever I get back/neck pains and the therapists really focus on those knots. I live in the city but I still make the drive here because I really enjoy my massages here. I pay $80 for a 90 minute hot stone massage and that is pretty affordable compared to other spas that do the same service (a 60 min massage could cost $100+ in other spas). I think this place is underrated and a hidden gem. This is a good place if you don't care about being in a pretentious upscale spa (the walls are thin but who cares) and want to get a relaxing, great quality massage! read more

First of all, all the photos on here look like another place and not at all like the Mongolian Massage place in Skokie. The massage not very good, the place and the atmosphere is anything but spa-like. They place and decor is not very nice, the air was thick and stale inside, and it left me wondering if the place is even clean. But the real problem is that both times when I came here I was with a friend who booked her massage at the same time and both times they tried putting us in together in the same room. A double room with two massage tables side by side. Something more for lovers and not at all what we wanted. The second time they would not let us have separate private rooms (even though when I booked it on the phone I clearly went over the fact that we needed private rooms because I had remembered my first experience there). However they did not reserve for us the rooms that were promised to us at the time we booked the appointments even though we were on time. Unfortunately we had to leave and never got our massages. This was very inconvenient because we drove very far to make these appointments. Also with the massage I had there previously, the rooms were not sound proof at all and you can hear everything going on in the other rooms such as other clients moaning as they are being massaged. All in all.. mediocre massages, terrible atmosphere, and staff not good at all with booking appointments. I base the low stars on my few bad experiences here. read more

I have gone to Mongolian spa a few times. I have tried both the full body massage using oil and hot stones as well as the foot massage. The full body massage was an hour in length and fantastic! All my knots were worked out and the masseuse adjusted the pressure to my liking. The foot massage is really a head/shoulder, foot soak/massage and back massage lasting an hour. One is fully clothed for this massage. The staff is great and there is a free hand paraffin dip when checking out. The side parking lot is small but there is a free city parking lot across the street. I would recommend this place for an affordable massage. Both types of massages were five star!!! read more

I will admit that I wasn't so sure about this place but I really wanted a deep massage and they had a Groupon offer. So I went. Amazing! Totally relaxing environment and very welcoming. One hour massage with hot rocks/hot rock compress and lavender oils. Asked for deep pressure and it was. Worked on the lower back and sciatic nerve area for a nice long time. Respected the limits of a shoulder still recovering from a surgery and she even put a special warm compress on it when I was on my back. Will be back for sure. read more
