Two Men and a Truck Newmarket & Aurora

Two men and a truck did our move in early March - moved within Newmarket. We received a quote…read morewithout a site visit, which was our first hint that it was not going to go well. The short version is there were numerous problems with the move; from numerous boxes being moved to the wrong rooms (despite being properly labelled), some items not being moved at all (resulting in us having to rent a truck the next day to complete the job ourselves), to a new items being damaged (armoire and couch). In addition, the move was bigger than the quote, so we received a bill that was $750 more than the quote. This is on top of a very generous tip we gave the crew before we were aware of the issues. We called 3 weeks later to report these and was told someone would get back to us. Nobody called back, so we called again and spoke to a gentleman (I believe Stewart) who has no interest in doing much to make it right, other than fix the items that we had already repaired ourselves. VERY DISAPPOINTED. More disappointed in the service after the fact than the actual move. Stewart spent the entirety of our call interrupting me to defend why he wasn't prepared to make it right.

The movers did not communicate with each other nor did they communicate with us. As well that same mover wouldn't listen to anything we said about where things should be placed, and then would drop it wherever he felt like and walk away. He was bitching about his own co-workers and also at my family. Overall, this experience was absolutely terrible and my family and I were so beyond disappointed about how they treated us and there lack of respect.

If I could give them no stars then I would…read more They were supposed to show up at 9am to start our move because the elevator at the building was booked for 1:30pm so we wanted to make sure we were done before then. They don't show up until 10:00am probably because of Highway 400 NB being closed for an investigation. The closure was reported at 6:30am so you'd think they would have checked highway reports before leaving.. but no, they didn't. 10:00am they finally arrive and start to back the truck up. They weren't very friendly at all, they treated our furniture like it was a smash-up derby (the one guy moved one trunk, knowing it was full of breakable things but still stood it up on its end and as he was wheeling it out, it popped open and things spilled everywhere, also our tall white cabinet is completely broken now) They didn't wrap any of the furniture in blankets or anything either. We are still finding areas on pieces of furniture that are wrecked. Then the one guy complained that he has severe cat allergies.. you would think the moving company would have asked us on the phone if we have pets. We had a bunch of boxes piled in the one corner, our valuables and we told them we're taking those ourselves which is fine... So as the morning goes on we become more panicked that they aren't going to be done in time and they ask us to take more boxes ourselves because they won't have time. They finally finish loading their truck so we go outside and tell them we're heading over to the new apartment. They had to run up to the car to ask us the address again so we told them and we left. We get to the new apartment and sit there & wait for them. Almost an hour goes by and they're nowhere to be found so now we start thinking they took off with our stuff since we never signed any paperwork. We call their office in Toronto & leaves a message asking where the movers are & leave our cell number on the voicemail. The movers end up calling our phone (We didn't hear it go off) and there was a voicemail with the one guy saying that their truck broke down right around the corner and they have to wait for their boss to bring his truck with a trailer... from Toronto. We call them back and during the whole call they were laughing like it was a big funny joke that the truck broke down. We talked to our old superintendent at the building and she informed us that whoever was driving the truck was revving the truck really hard and it was barely moving, before it broke down. Do they not inspect their trucks frequently? This was at 2:40pm and it wasn't until 4:45pm that they finally get to our new apartment with our stuff. My mom made sure they weren't charging us for the time we had to wait and they said they weren't. They kept crashing their dolley into walls going to different rooms in our apartment, being careless. They finally finish moving our stuff in at 7pm. So 10:00am-2:40pm and then 4:45-7pm= roughly 6.5 hours if you round it up. They gave us a total of $770... which I added up the truck fee of $120+6.5 hours x $75 an hour + tax and it definitely didn't add up to that. We figured it out and they were trying to charge us for 7.5 hours.. they lied to their boss and told him they arrived at our place at 9am until we made sure he knew that wasn't in fact the truth. We argued for a good half an hour about the price. The one guy calls the office and hands me the phone, I explain that we want a discount (for them to wave the truck fee) because of all the hassle of them being late & not moving all our stuff (I have a back condition and I shouldn't have had to lift all of the boxes that were left behind) , the truck breaking down etc and of course I was angry on the phone. The girl refused to give us a discount, asked us what we would have done if they didn't show up at all and I told her we would have went with a different company and we wish we did now. She hung up on us, great customer service. I e-transferred the money to them (no discount given) and they actually stood there saying they didn't trust us now because we argued about the price. So after all of that I opened a complaint on the BBB and all the company did was argue with me and try to make it look like we were lying when in fact they are the lying ignorant excuses for human beings. They are anything but professional and if you want all of your furniture ruined and if you want to be treated like garbage then by all means hire them. Honestly there are way better moving companies out there who won't try to overcharge you and will actually respect you and your belongings. Please avoid this company at all cost, you'll definitely be thanking me that you did! THEY WERE AN HOUR LATE. Yet they keep saying half an hour because apparently they don't know how to tell time. Yes of course we didn't examine our furniture the same day because it took so freaking long for the move to actually be over and we had to finish the move ourselves even after the useless company left.

They arrived at the destination 10 minutes after I did which was quicker than I had expected (an hour drive, and I drive rather fast). Nice, funny, hard working guys.
