We had planned on buying several bouquets of flowers from a farmer's market in La Crosse which we would have had to cut and arrange, but I am so glad we met Faith instead! Faith came over to the barn to plan what we needed and what time to deliver. She cut the flowers fresh from her garden the morning of the wedding, made at least 30 beautiful arrangements, and delivered them to the barn. We got so many compliments on how they turned out and had gorgeous flowers for about two weeks following the wedding. I would absolutely recommend her!

It is held on Saturday Mornings during the year ... we were here at the end of October and all the kids were dressed in costumes...very cute. Most of the items are very affordable as well. I found a ton of gifts for my friends and family. The nicest part is that the cashier was more than happy to gift wrap for free! I can't wait to go back when we visit Viroqua.

We are splitting a weekly CSA box (community supported agriculture) between five people; every week…read morewe head over to the drop-off site in our neighborhood and get a beautiful box of fresh produce. We have enough produce for everyone; we only have one vegetarian in the bunch, so that may make a difference. The owners are very committed to keeping members informed about the happenings in the farm. With each box, we get a list of a few recipes and how to store and prepare the different fruits and vegetables in the box. What I love? Having fresh produce, being pushed to try new recipes, and trying vegetables I would probably never purchase at Kowalski's or Whole Foods -- being forced out of my comfort zone challenges my pallet and my questionable cooking ability. Driftless does a good job of combining standbys and interesting produce.

The carrots are like candy, and the potatoes are beautiful! I love the newsletter that comes with each box, giving storage tips, and recipe ideas. I've tried veggies I didn't even know existed! It's also made us MUCH better about utilizing everything we can, not only from our box, but from all our food. If you're not ready to get a weekly(or bi-weekly) box, you can always stop by the booth at the Farmers Market(I'm telling you...try the carrots!!!).

The half share is more than enough for one (maybe two). Thus far, I love it. The vegetables are as fresh as can be and I get to try all sorts of different vegetables. Who knew I would like kale and Swiss chard so much? Kohlrabi? Different heirloom veggies? It definitely makes cooking every week a lot more fun when you get to experiment. I can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings.

The fall chill is in the air, and our family and friends were back in the driftless valley region…read morebetween Gays Mills and the orchard filled-ridges, hitting our favorite annual "must-visit, must-see, must-do, and must-eat" places. We have our favorite orchards, markets, bakeries, and now... we have our favorite pumpkin patch/farm stand! We had seen signs but somehow missed it - but we decided to go back the way we came in hopes of finding it again and we did - and so glad we did!!! Luckily their Facebook page is what saved us - it had a map showing us that it's tucked in a valley in Haney, WI. Two sisters ran the stand and behind it a nice size pumpkin patch that had the vine clippers ready for the pinching. Our kids had a blast looking for the perfect pumpkin and after we bought some delish warm drinks and chatted with the sisters about their family farm. They also have pre-picked pumpkins, gourds, warm drinks, and some bakery items. We learned they also grow veggies throughout the growing season and sell at local farmer markets. The Sand Farm's pumpkins also have personality - they are EXTRA! These are not your standard "Walmart" carving pumpkins - these come in all shapes, sizes, colors, bumps, no-bumps - everyone can find a pumpkin that's best for them. Their prices can't be beaten. We walked away with 3 beautiful pumpkins - only $11! The Sand Farm is local agriculture/agritourism that is quaint, has a heart, and a spirit that we look forward to supporting when we are visiting the reason annually during the summer/fall. They are a new "add" to our annual apple-weekend "hit" list of must-visit stops.

You can find seasonal veggies, plants, dog treats, crafts, wine, and even week old honey. Among these vendors my favorite was the squash casserole. Just reheat in the oven and voila!! This was also a great time for the pup. A lot of dogs were out and about, and we got a great reaction from everyone. Maybe because Woody is like a small horse. We could have had our own tent..."Pet the huge dog for a dime" :)
