I can remember looking up to older kids who turned pro and skated for CCS when I was young here. And I can remember being that same older kid five or six short years later. This skatepark is a part of me through its memory. It's been modified. It's been closed due to crime a handful of times. It's been the source of much scrutiny by Napa's aging governing body. It's been blamed for countless criminal activities even though it's only concrete and re-bar. But it's more than merely factors of production to those whose wheels have turned upon its grades. To us, this skatepark stood as a middle finger to the establishment who took away our boards at the clocktower. To us, it functioned twofold as a home for our trucks and a vacation for our worries. And we all respected it with our spray cans and sharpies. It was ours to decorate the way our culture wished...at least, that's how we justified it back then. But there were those who sought to use it as further excuse to stop us from skating anywhere in Napa. They said, "You have the skatepark, go there and skate." Did we listen? No. The skatepark was where we went so our parents would know where to start looking for us. The skatepark was where we went to pump some bumps. It was where we went to break our wrists and blame it on the city! We still owned the town. The skatepark was our statue to ourselves. It was one of the firsts of many greater than it to come. But to those of us who saw it built and raised the funds to support it, it's was and is a monument to Gen Y. To those who came after and simply skate without worry...you're welcome from us. I remember so many true OGs: Aaron, Abe, Smiley, Victor, Louie, Gabe, Tyson, Boboy, Boyle, the list goes on. Nestled In a neighborhood just off of Dry Creek Rd, right by the much larger and grander Alston Park, is Vine Hill Park. It actually pretty large and has several amenities you would expect in a neighborhood park plus a few extras. The park is mostly open, unshaded grass but contains several amenities as well. The focal point of the park is the fairly well shaded play structure with slides, swings and ladders. This is great for young kids to get their ya yas out. There are conveniently shaded benches and a picnic area right by the play structure. Perfect for watching young ones. There's also a basketball court, a baseball diamond, a basic skate ramp, and a drinking fountain. After going to this park for years now, one of the most noticeable things about the park is how large it is but how little of it is developed or ever used. If you are looking for a big park with trails and a view - go to Alston Park. If you have young kids and want to get them out of the house, then this is your park.

Also 2 bikers driving recklessly (while their mother watched from a bench). One of the bikers rammed a 9 year old skater. Apparently there is no monitoring or enforcement of the rules that make it safer for everyone. Infraction of rules carries a fine but guess no one else cares. The bikes are a particular menace to others as they are not as controllable as skateboards and scooters and are LARGE pieces of moving equipment with careless riders dominating the skate park.

Several scooter riders do flips regularly without a problem. When I saw it for the first time, it appeared to be a single level, but there are several different levels to it, all surrounded by a fence. Riders were mostly quiet, doing their thing. Watch out for the little, little ones because they're not paying attention. There is no supervision, so even though there are rules, they may or may not be followed. Helmets should be worn, regardless. Parking is just outside the skate park.

The park requires helmet and pads, has a bathroom, water fountains and allows bladers and scooters and has experts to beginners. There's no snacks but the coner store/deli is jsut a block away, just past the Best Western Hotel on Dry Creek. There's a great big oak tree that shades an area where you can get yer gear on, sit and watch or hang out with friends. It's really an example, no A MODEL of how city government and locals can come together and support space for our youth. There's no graffiti and zero tolerance for drugs or violence and signs that say "This is Your Park, Take Care of it" and the kidz and elders do = every time I go there, it makes me smile! I've seen real young kidz and veteran/ experts ride here all toegther no prob'! This park just has a great energy, great feel! This is such a great little park hidden off the beaten path, with nice grass and really nice smooth concrete bowls, (so no bikes here)..the layout is not huge... but just flows ....so sweet, even if you don't skate take your lunch and hang out and watch the talent do their thing, SK8 for LIFE!

Review for 4th of July Celebrations…read more Best fireworks show in the area as far as I'm concerned. Spectacular show and friendly, family atmosphere. I've only had more fun as a kid when 'safe & sane' fireworks were legal and illegal fireworks were only frowned upon unless you were a distributer, lol. Anyway, plenty of room here, nice grass, traditional music, good weather, dog friendly, etc etc and this park is a neighborhood park so most of us live within a mile away, but i don't know a better show for 15 miles. So there you go.

Adults and kids who trash the park. Overall the park isn't that safe. I have to watch my kid super close and want to leave early. The upgrades are nice but there's people who mess it up. Every other time I take my kid, theres kids who are throwing garbage everywhere, cursing like an adult and talking about doing drugs. How are we supposed to have nice things when people mess it up?

There was excitement coming from the park and waterpark. There were tons of local vendors. I truly enjoyed all the sampling at the farmers market. There's tons of green space with courts available - like basketball and tennis. Corn hole was being played as well. It was so much fun!

SUMMER CONCERT REVIEW: The city of Dublin hosts free weekly summer concerts from June through…read moreAugust at Emerald Glen Park on Thursday evenings. This also coincides with their farmer's market. I came here last Thursday to catch "Pop Fiction", a cover band. I arrived at 5:40 PM, 20 minutes before the concert, so I walked around to check out the farmer's market. There are food trucks, fruits, veggies, seafood, pastries, and lots more. The concert is at the Amphitheater, which has a couple tiers of lawn area. Early birds take up the back section and set up their tents and tables. We had a few folder chairs, and brought our own food for a little picnic. "Pop Fiction" was high energy and did a good job with songs from the '70's to today. They were a little pitchy at times, but everyone was just having a good time. As the evening progressed, more people came up front to dance or sway. There's no shade on the lawn, so definitely bring sunscreen and hats. The park itself is huge, but I didn't have time to check it all out. We enjoyed the concert and picnic. We'll probably be back for another one before the summer is done.
