Fast forward to today.. he feels so safe and at home - he is definitely thriving! Fraser has a very strong personality, and we love how patient the staff is and how the Montessori way allows him to channel it positively. We absolutely adore his teachers (Ms. Nhi, Ms. Veronica, Ms. Wen, and Ms. Cat) + a special shout-out to Ms. M, who spoils him with so much love! What really stands out is that all the teachers at the school seem genuinely happy and know Fraser personally. The director, Ms. Prima, is super on top of everything and fosters a great relationship with all the families and staff. I truly appreciate the extra thought and care she puts into the school. If you want a place where your child will be safe, known, and nurtured, we highly recommend this amazing team!

Even though my child is in the English program, he also takes Chinese and Spanish classes. Friends of mine from other cities and states often see the school activities I share/post and tell me how envious they are that we have access to such an amazing preschool. My child has learned so much here, especially in STEM-related subjects. His life skills, independence, and hands-on abilities have improved tremendously. The school also provides a wide variety of enriching activities, including science fairs, carnivals, puppet shows, bubble shows, and animal petting events where the children can ride ponies and interact with rabbits and other animals. The school also hosts special Mother's Day and Father's Day breakfast events that make families feel very involved and welcomed. Every year, the winter and spring performances are what I look forward to the most. It is truly impressive to see a group of 4-year-olds confidently perform three English songs, one Chinese song, one Spanish song, and even a dance routine on stage. The children always look so confident and joyful. This year, my child will be graduating, and I am incredibly grateful to Ms. Joanna and Ms. Regina. They are warm, energetic, patient, and genuinely caring teachers. The classroom environment they create is loving and harmonious, and the children are kind and supportive toward one another. We will always appreciate the wonderful experience our child had here.

My first daughter just graduated from BOD after being there for 2.5 years (she started at 5 months). And there was no question we would enroll our second daughter at BOD, who is now almost one, and we started her at 3 months! We have gotten to know all of the teachers throughout the years and each one of them truly cares about what they do to ensure every single child is properly cared for. My younger daughter had feeding/OT issues around the time she started at BOD, and the staff helped accommodate OT exercises and feeding practices to help her overcome her issues while away from home. They genuinely love the children and treat them like their own nieces and nephews but with the knowledge and care of professionals. Long version: I never saw myself putting my kids in daycare as I was lucky to be cared for by my grandma. However, shortly after getting pregnant I lost my mom and my dad was having a hard time traveling from San Diego solo to help. If you have ever looked for daycare for an infant, you know a good place has over a year waitlist! That was the case when we first visited beyond too but I knew this was the ONLY daycare for my daughter. It was the only daycare I toured that I instantly felt comfortable and trusted the director and it was sooo clean and kids were so happy. I could never envision my daughter at any of the other places or picture myself trusting them with her happiness and safety. But when I met Jasmine and toured beyond I just knew. The next few months, Jasmine was a savior with getting us some part time coverage. She really cares about the families and I could tell my daughter was so happy with all her teachers. I've honestly only heard a kid cry at drop off like once in the last year and a half. My daughter had zero problems transitioning to daycare and as she moved up through the different classes we've been so happy with all her loving teachers. My daughter is so fulfilled by her time there every day and you can't replace such a great social aspect for the kids too. I've come to realize it would have been a disservice to keep my daughter isolated at home. She thrives here. She comes home everyday learning so many things it's crazy. So many words, songs, letters, numbers, lessons I never taught her she just absorbs from being at school. I'm also amazed what a great effort they've put into the activities for the older kids. I'm so appreciative bc as a full time working mom with a newborn I have no time or energy for that. I also feel their gentle and conscientious style for dealing with issues or behaviors with the kids aligned with my parenting choices. Even again with our newborn, my dad found himself unable to keep his full commitment and Jasmine immediately had us covered. They will take care of you and your baby. Can't wait for our second to start her beyond journey too :))

Our daughter was a founding student at Modern Schoolhouse in Eagle Rock. She attended TMS from when…read moreshe was 18 months until she graduated as a 4-year-old (when our family moved from LA to Denver). It's difficult to capture the gratitude and appreciation we have for Sue and her team in words. Modern Schoolhouse was an integral, joyful part of our family's life for several years. The teachers expertly crafted a safe, nurturing, and rigorous environment that provided a strong foundation for our daughter to blossom and grow. I feel like we will always look back on our enrollment at Modern Schoolhouse as one of the best parenting decisions we've ever made. A few things stand out about TMS: CURRICULUM - Our daughter was enrolled in full-time childcare for a year prior to Modern Schoolhouse. However, it was unclear whether her previous caregivers were working toward any kind of goal (e.g., Kindergarten readiness) or if she was learning anything. That changed the instant we enrolled at TMS. I remember feeling skeptical when Sue asked us to purchase a special pack of flashcards. However, a few months later our 1.5 year-old daughter was recognizing the alphabet and making letter sounds at home. We were legitimately shocked! Preschool years are so important for kids to develop foundational skills and get broad exposure to different topics. Modern Schoolhouse delivers a learning experience that feels ambitious, but not forced. Our daughter was always engaged with the current unit (e.g., marine life, camping, etc.) and excited to go to school. That is the best feeling as a parent! The regular assessments and parent/teacher conferences helped us understand her progress and make a smooth transition to our new school in Colorado. CARE - At the same time that preschool aged children are exploring new academic concepts, they're also learning how to interact and play with other children. Modern Schoolhouse does such an excellent job helping their students communicate, manage their emotions, and engage with their classmates. At TMS our daughter learned things like how to ask for space and differentiate between good vs. bad choices. Teacher/staff transitions are inevitable and unavoidable in early childhood learning. What stood out to us about TMS was the quality and consistency of the team over the years and across classrooms. The teachers at Modern Schoolhouse helped us through the various ups and downs of life with a toddler and major transitions like potty training. Now that we're no longer enrolled at TMS, we're realizing that we took for granted how proactive and responsive the teachers were with their communication. The "ouch reports" from the playground, the quick responses to questions, it's all so important for parents - especially if this is your first childcare experience. COMMUNITY - Lastly, I want to highlight the broader Modern Schoolhouse community. Our daughter became very close with several other girls in her classroom and over time we became friends with their parents as well. TMS families are diverse, kind, and welcoming. I appreciated the music day potluck, annual art show, graduation, and the various other ways that Modern Schoolhouse brought everyone together to celebrate the students. Thank you Modern Schoolhouse! We will forever be grateful to you for the positive impact you had on our family.

We experienced ongoing communication issues while trying to enroll our daughter at The Modern…read moreSchoolhouse. Unfortunately, the lack of clear, timely communication throughout the admissions process ultimately led us to change directions for our daughter. Over the course of more than a month, we received conflicting information from multiple staff members about when our daughter would be able to start. We were consistently told she would begin in September 2026, only to later be told that August 3 was the only option. While that may seem like a small difference, many families plan childcare, work schedules, and finances months in advance, so changing the start date created unnecessary stress. Unfortunately, communication was the biggest issue. Multiple calls and emails took weeks to receive a response, and some were never returned. When we finally received a definitive answer, we were told it was essentially August 3 or nothing. To make matters worse, we were never clearly informed that there was a deadline after which our deposit would become non-refundable. Had that been communicated clearly, we could have made a more informed decision quicker. As a result, it felt like the school unfairly kept our $1,000 deposit because that deadline was never clearly communicated to us. Overall, our experience with the admissions and administrative process left us feeling that communication was disorganized and lacked transparency. For a school that parents are trusting with their children, clear, timely, and transparent communication is incredibly important. Unfortunately, the poor communication throughout this process was a significant red flag for me and my family.

I remember considering many preschools before we settled on Sundance: play-based schools, montessori, schools with a religious-bent, schools with an academic bent, etc. Sundance checked so many boxes for us as it has a balance of academic preparation, Korean language instruction, fine-motor skill development through daily crafts, gross-motor skill development through outdoor play and regularly scheduled events, good communication (through pictures, newsletters, and daily reports, and an outstanding director who is always available via text and email)! I will be forever grateful for the teachers here that taught him how to wait in line, socialize with the other kids and teach my son to be more calm haha. He knows how to trace his Korean alphabets now too! And recognizes them. I text the director about any questions I have and she quickly responds. The activities are so cute too!
